Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX
Rangers' Nathan Eovaldi: Works through seven innings
Eovaldi did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's loss to the Athletics, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks while striking out seven in seven innings.
The Athletics plated a pair of runs against Eovaldi in the first, another in the third and then scratched across one more in the sixth stemming from an error earlier in the inning. Eovaldi only allowed four hits, two of which came in the first inning, and his seven strikeouts were his second most in eight starts since Aug. 10. Eovaldi is now winless in his last three starts and holds a 7.56 ERA over that span. For the year, he holds a 3.96 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 161:41 K:BB in 163.2 innings and lines up to face the Angels over the weekend in his final start of the year.

Mitch Spence SP | KC
Athletics' Mitch Spence: Can't make it to five innings
Spence did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's win over the Rangers, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out two over 4.2 innings.
Spence found himself with traffic on the bases in every inning but the second, leading to runs for the Rangers in the first, fourth and fifth innings. He has now gone fewer than five innings in two of his last four starts and has allowed a homer in three straight after Nathaniel Lowe took him deep in the fourth. Spence has also allowed 29 hits in his last 21 innings, but he has only given up eight runs over that span. The 26-year-old now owns a 4.35 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 121:44 K:BB in 147 innings and tentatively lines up for one final start against the Mariners this weekend.

Logan Gilbert SP | SEA
Mariners' Logan Gilbert: Gives up three homers
Gilbert (8-12) allowed four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six over six innings to take the loss versus the Astros on Tuesday.

Over five starts in September, Gilbert has allowed 16 runs over 31.1 innings, including eight homers, despite a 41:6 K:BB. He's now at a 3.33 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 213:37 K:BB through 203 innings over 32 starts this season. He is not currently projected to pitch again in the regular season, though he would be on regular rest if the Mariners have anything to play for in their last game Sunday versus the Athletics.

The southpaw is now at a 2.91 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 169:55 K:BB through 176.1 innings across 28 starts this season. Valdez's next start is likely to come in the playoffs. The right-hander has gone eight starts without a win, allowing 26 runs over 45.2 innings with a 50:12 K:BB in that span. His late fade has pushed his ERA up to 3.94 with a 1.00 WHIP and 187:43 K:BB through 173.2 innings over 30 starts this season. With this performance, Kremer lowered his second-half ERA from 3.98 to 3.81 to go with a 1.27 WHIP and 59:26 K:BB across 61 innings. The 28-year-old has now struck out seven batters in back-to-back outings that have both resulted in losses. Schmidt was faring well against a tough Baltimore lineup until Anthony Santander knocked a solo homer off the right-field foul pole in the sixth, ending the New York starter's night at an even 100 pitches. Since returning from a strained right lat Sept. 7, Schmidt has pitched to a 2.61 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 21:6 K:BB across 20.2 frames. He lines up to make his final start of the regular season against the Pirates at home this weekend.

After failing to secure seven Ks five times in his previous six outings, Bibee reached that mark for the 13th time this season, generating an impressive 16 whiffs. The only blemish on his performance came via an RBI single by Spencer Steer in the fourth. Luis Garcia SP | NYY
Astros' Luis Garcia: Facing hitters
Garcia (elbow) threw live batting practice Tuesday, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Garcia has already been ruled out for the rest of the season as he continues to work his way back from a Tommy John procedure he underwent in May 2023. However, the fact he is back to facing hitters after having his throwing program paused in August bodes well for his availability to begin the 2025 campaign.
