Junk (shin) struck out three and allowed one earned run on five hits and no walks across three innings Saturday in a rehab start for Triple-A Jacksonville.

The right-hander made his second rehab appearance at Triple-A after he was sent to the 15-day injured list May 31 due to right shin bone inflammation. He built up to 61 pitches (37 strikes) in Saturday's outing and averaged 93.8 mph with his four-seam fastball, about a half-tick behind his season-long average prior to landing on the shelf. Per Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com, Junk completed a pitch-design session in front of the Marlins' coaching and training staff Tuesday, and if he checks out fine following that workout, he could fill the opening in the Miami rotation in Thursday's series finale versus the Mariners.

The Cardinals designated Zimmermann for assignment before Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Brewers.

Zimmermann coughed up three earned runs in five innings while working in bulk relief during the first half of Tuesday's twin bill, and he'll lose his place on the 40-man roster now that his services are no longer needed. Jared Shuster will come up from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move to add bullpen depth.

Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Tuesday that Taillon (hamstring) is expected to make another rehab start before returning from the 15-day injured list, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Though Taillon joined the team in Baltimore for the start of their six-game road trip, Counsell said that the right-hander won't be activated this week unless the Cubs lose one of their healthy starters to an injury and have to adjust the rotation on the fly. Assuming Taillon isn't needed, he'll report to an affiliate over the weekend to make the second start of his rehab assignment before returning from the IL following the All-Star break. Taillon made his first rehab start this past Sunday at High-A South Bend, tossing 3.1 innings and 45 pitches (32 strikes) while striking out two and allowing one run on four hits and zero walks.

The Padres recalled Brito from Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.

Brito is slated to serve in a bulk relief capacity in Tuesday's game against Arizona. The right-hander missed all of the 2025 season and the early part of the current season following internal brace surgery on his elbow last May. In eight outings between Double-A San Antonio and El Paso, Brito collected a 1.46 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 27:14 K:BB in 37 innings.

Atlanta optioned Murphy to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

The right-hander was called up Monday and made his debut in the 10th inning against the Mets, taking the loss after giving up two runs (one earned) on a hit and a hit-by-pitch with one strikeout. Murphy will now return to Gwinnett, where he has a 3.88 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 65:20 K:BB across 11 starts (60.1 innings) this year.

Making his big-league debut in a high-pressure spot, Murphy retired Francisco Lindor and Carson Benge to begin the frame before hitting Jared Young with a pitch and serving up a two-run double to Luis Torrens. The 22-year-old right-hander is in his first full season since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2024, and while he's working out of the bullpen for the big club, his future is still expected to be in the rotation -- over 11 starts since a promotion to Triple-A Gwinnett at the beginning of May, Murphy's posted a 3.88 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 65:20 K:BB in 60.1 innings.

High-A Fort Wayne reinstated Kemp (oblique) from its 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Kemp is finally ready to make his High-A debut after a left oblique injury suffered in the spring shelved him to begin the season. He was activated after allowing six runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out four over 5.2 innings across three rehab starts in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

McGreevy won't start during Tuesday's doubleheader against the Brewers in order to get some extra rest, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The right-hander was lined up to start in Tuesday's twin bill, but St. Louis will instead have Matt Svanson as the opener and Bruce Zimmermann as the bulk reliever in Game 1 while Hunter Dobbins starts the nightcap. There's been no indication of an injury for McGreevy, who has given up just two runs across 12 innings over his past two starts. He'll instead take the mound Wednesday versus Milwaukee.

The Brewers designated Gasser as the 27th man for Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, and he's scheduled to start the second game of the twin bill.

The left-hander was optioned to the minors last week, but the expectation all along was that he would rejoin the big club to pitch in Tuesday's doubleheader. Gasser has a 4.54 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 36:13 K:BB across 35.2 innings (seven starts) in the majors this season, though he's been more effective in his past three outings with a 2.60 ERA and 0.98 WHIP.

The Cardinals recalled Dobbins from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Dobbins is serving as the 27th man during Tuesday's doubleheader against the Brewers and is slated to start the second game. The right-hander has posted a 3.63 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB over 17.1 innings during his time with the big club this season. Dobbins is likely to be sent back down after his spot start.
