  • Robert Gasser SP | MIL

Brewers' Robert Gasser: Ready for season debut

Triple-A Nashville reinstated Gasser (elbow) from its 7-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday versus Louisville.

Gasser will be making his season debut Wednesday after he missed nearly a month while recovering from a bone spur in his left elbow. He'll likely be on a light pitch count Wednesday but should steadily ramp up over his subsequent outings.

  • Patrick Corbin SP | TOR

Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Blanks Dodgers in no-decision

Corbin came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Dodgers, allowing three hits and three walks over 5.1 scoreless innings. He struck out three.

The 34-year-old lefty put together his best performance of the young season, tossing 50 of 86 pitches for strikes and exiting with a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, the Nationals' bullpen quickly coughed it up. Corbin remains winless in 2024 with an 0-3 record, and his 6.51 ERA, 1.81 WHIP and 18:11 K:BB through 27.2 innings don't offer much fantasy appeal even as a streaming option. He'll try to keep building momentum in his next start, which lines up to come this weekend in Miami.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Dodgers' James Paxton: Inefficient in no-decision

Paxton came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Nationals, allowing one run on five hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out only one.

The veteran southpaw needed 89 pitches (52 strikes) to record his 14 outs, but Paxton wouldn't have gotten a win even if he had completed five innings as the Dodgers didn't take the lead until the eighth. He's issued at least three free passes in three of his four starts so far in 2024, and while his 2.61 ERA looks good on the surface, Paxton's 1.55 WHIP and 11:17 K:BB through 20.2 innings are very worrying. He'll try to sharpen his control in his next outing, a homecoming of sorts for Big Maple this weekend in Toronto.

  • Merrill Kelly SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly: Likely to miss at least one month

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said after Tuesday's 14-1 win over the Cardinals that he expects Kelly (shoulder) to miss at least one month after landing on the 15-day injured list, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports. "We're not looking in terms of weeks as what we had hoped for," Lovullo said of Kelly's timetable for a return from a teres major strain in his right shoulder. "So I think the next step up is a month, more than that."

Kelly had rolled to a 2-0 record, 2.19 ERA and 0.93 WHIP over 24.2 innings through his first four starts of the season before he was scratched ahead of his most recent turn in the rotation this past Sunday against the Giants upon experiencing shoulder discomfort during a throwing session. He was sent in for two MRIs in recent days, and although both confirmed that Kelly had sustained a teres major strain, Lovullo noted that the Diamondbacks don't yet know if the strain is of the Grade 1, 2 or 3 variety. Lovullo added that Kelly will receive "a couple other opinions" on his injury before a firmer timeline and a treatment method is established, but the skipper said that the right-hander won't need surgery even while the "concern [level] is yet to be determined." In any case, Kelly's fantasy managers can probably feel comfortable ruling him out for all of May, and it could be difficult to justify stashing the 35-year-old if his timeline for a return ultimately gets pushed back further.

  • Ryan Feltner SP | COL

Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Lasts four innings in no-decision

Feltner allowed four runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out four over four innings in a no-decision against the Padres on Tuesday.

Feltner immediately found himself in some trouble with a leadoff walk and a pair of singles to quickly get the Padres on the board. They would plate one more before the inning ended and then got another two runs off him in the third with four more hits in the frame. Four innings was a season low for Feltner, who had to work hard, needing 93 pitches to get through the outing. He was unable to replicate the magnificent start at home he had versus the Rays earlier in the month, but Feltner's managed to keep the ball in the park in his two starts at Coors as opposed to the four home runs he's surrendered in his three road starts thus far. He'll take a 5.68 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB (25.1 IP) into his next outing on the road against the Marlins.

  • Michael King SP | SD

Padres' Michael King: Short start in loss

King (2-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Rockies, allowing six runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks while striking out five in 3.2 innings.

King had given up just one run through three innings before things took a turn for the worst in the fourth. Two singles and an error loaded up the bases before King served up a grand slam to Brendan Rodgers to give the Rockies their first lead of the game. The damage didn't stop there, as King would then find himself with the bases loaded again in that same inning and walked in another run before finally being pulled. After flirting with a no-hitter his last time out, King had arguably his worst start of the year and has given mixed results through his first six outings. The 29-year-old now owns a 4.11 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 34:18 K:BB in 30.2 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column versus the Phillies this weekend.

  • Logan Webb SP | SF

Giants' Logan Webb: Continues scoreless streak

Webb improved to 3-1 on the season in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Mets, striking out four over eight scoreless innings while allowing six hits and one walk.

Webb's dominance from his previous outing carried over into Tuesday. The Mets scattered six hits against him with most of it being soft contact and he never had more than one runner on base until his final inning. Webb is up to 19 consecutive scoreless innings, which is the longest streak of his career and he's now gone at least seven innings and allowed one or fewer runs in each of his last three outings. Webb lowered his ERA to a 2.33 to go with a 1.11 WHIP and 26:7 K:BB in 28.2 innings. He'll look to keep things rolling next week on the road against Boston.

  • Luis Severino SP | ATH

Mets' Luis Severino: Little run support in loss

Severino (2-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Giants, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out five over six innings.

Severino held the Giants scoreless through four frames before four singles in the fifth plated three runs, with only one of those knocks being a hard-hit ball. It was his second start of the year allowing no walks and his second straight quality outing after failing to reach six frames in each of his first three starts. The 30-year-old owns a 2.67 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 26:9 K:BB in 27 innings. He lines up to take the rubber again versus the Cubs next week.

  • Trevor Rogers SP | BAL

Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Hit with third loss

Rogers (0-3) took the loss Tuesday against Atlanta, surrendering five runs (three earned) on seven hits and a walk while striking out four batters.

Facing an Atlanta lineup that sports a staggering .824 OPS, Rogers only gave up two unearned runs through the first five innings but was promptly pulled after allowing a sac fly and a two-run homer during the sixth. The 26-year-old southpaw holds a 4.10 ERA and 1.52 WHIP through his first five starts and will still be in search of his first win of the year during his next scheduled outing versus the Nationals on Monday.

  • Max Fried SP | NYY

Braves' Max Fried: Delivers fourth career shutout

Fried (2-0) threw a complete-game shutout Tuesday in Atlanta's 5-0 win over Miami, striking out six while allowing three hits and no walks.

Fried's performance Tuesday marked the fourth time he's thrown a complete-game shutout in his career and was the third time he's done so in less than 100 pitches, needing just 92 pitches to get 27 outs. Despite his incredible showing, the 30-year-old southpaw still owns a 4.97 ERA through his first five starts, but he'll have plenty of momentum on his side heading into his next outing -- tentatively scheduled for Monday in Seattle.
