Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Tuesday that Ashby (shoulder) will begin appearing in rehab games in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League in the near future, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Ashby remains without a clear timeline to make his season debut for Milwaukee, but the Brewers intend to use him out of the bullpen once he completes his rehab assignment, given that working as a reliever will allow for a quicker buildup. The 25-year-old is already in Arizona working his way through a throwing program and has resumed tossing bullpen sessions. He'll likely need to face live hitters in batting practice on a few occasions before the Brewers formally clear him to play in ACL games.

Woodruff (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Wisconsin on Saturday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Woodruff has been on the injured list since mid-April, and he'll now begin ramping up toward a return to the Brewers' rotation. The 30-year-old righty has dealt with recovery issues in between bullpen sessions, but he reportedly felt "great" after his latest session Thursday and remains on track to return around mid-August.

Gray (elbow) has yet to allow a run and has given up four hits and seven walks while striking out 11 over nine innings since being reinstated from Single-A Myrtle Beach's 7-day injured list June 24.

Though Gray's control has been somewhat shaky in his three starts with Myrtle Beach, the results have been encouraging overall since he reported to the Carolina League after completing his recovery from Tommy John surgery. The 20-year-old lefty was the 93rd overall pick in the 2021 First-Year Player Draft.

Kershaw (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Tuesday in Baltimore, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

"All good," the veteran left-hander told Plunkett after the workout. There is no exact timetable yet for when Kershaw might be able to slot back into the Dodgers' starting rotation, but manager Dave Roberts has suggested that early August would be a reasonable target, per Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times. Kershaw has been on the shelf since July 3 due to a bout of shoulder inflammation.

Frasso has a 3.64 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 64 strikeouts in 47 innings across 15 starts for Double-A Tulsa.

He had a rough stretch from June 2 through July 3, where he gave up 15 earned runs while striking out 12 and walking seven in 9.2 innings across six appearances, but Frasso has been his normal dominant self in his two most recent outings (12 strikeouts in 7.2 frames). The 24-year-old righty logged between 54 and 60 innings in his first full pro season in 2022 and in 2019 and 2018 while at Loyola Marymount, so he could soon set a career high for innings in a season.

Vines (shoulder) made his most recent rehab appearance Friday at High-A Rome, covering 4.2 innings and striking out five while allowing one earned run on three hits and zero walks.

The outing with Rome was the third of Vines' rehab assignment, which he kicked off June 30 in the rookie-level Florida Complex League. The right-hander has been on the shelf all season at Triple-A Gwinnett while he works his way back from a shoulder issue, but he looks on pace to make his 2023 International League debut either this week or next.

Triple-A Gwinnett placed Dodd on its 7-day injured list June 24 with an unspecified injury.

Dodd was included in Atlanta's season-opening rotation and made spot starts with the big club on three other occasions in May and June before being optioned to Gwinnett. Following his most recent demotion, Dodd was roughed up for eight runs (seven earned) on 10 hits and two walks over four innings in his lone start with Gwinnett on June 22 before he was deactivated two days later. Atlanta hasn't provided any details regarding the nature of Dodd's injury or when he might be ready to return.

Atlanta placed Allard on the 60-day injured list Tuesday with left shoulder nerve inflammation.

Allard made an early exit from his start Sunday against the White Sox due to left shoulder tightness and will now be sidelined through at least the middle of September, if not the full remainder of the 2023 campaign. The 25-year-old southpaw had allowed nine earned runs on 16 hits and four walks through 12.1 major-league innings this season with Atlanta.

Cabrera (shoulder) is expected to be activated from the 15-day injured list Tuesday and is listed as the probable starter for the Marlins' game against the Cardinals in St. Louis.

Though the Marlins haven't officially confirmed that Cabrera will rejoin the rotation Tuesday, all signs point to the right-hander being activated after he threw a five-inning simulated game last Thursday before rejoining the big club on its road trip over the weekend. Because he hasn't pitched in an official game since June 13, Cabrera could have some workload limitations as he steps back into the rotation in St. Louis, so fantasy managers in shallower leagues may not want to jump the gun and activate him Tuesday.

Smyly (7-7) took the loss against Washington on Monday, allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over six innings.

It didn't take long for Smyly to fall behind in the contest, as he gave up a two-run home run to Jeimer Candelario in the first inning. The southpaw ended up surrendering five runs in the contest, the fifth time in 19 starts he's yielded at least that many runs in a game. Smyly at least managed to make it through six frames after going no more than four innings in each of his previous three appearances, but he wasn't able to put an end to his recent struggles. Over his past four outings, he's gone 0-3 while compiling a 9.87 ERA, 2.08 WHIP and 17:9 K:BB in 17.1 innings.
