Steele (9-3) allowed six runs on 10 hits across six innings to take the loss Sunday against the Red Sox. He had one walk and six strikeouts.

The primary damage came from two Boston home runs, including a Masataka Yoshida grand slam in the fifth inning. Steele has now allowed nine earned runs in his last two starts after allowing just three total runs in his previous four starts. The lefty is up to 97.1 innings this season following a career-high 119 innings last year. It's possible that fatigue becomes a factor for Steele, so the Cubs may decide to skip his turn in the rotation at some point or otherwise limit his workload. He's currently slated to start again Friday against the Cardinals.

Miller exited Sunday's game against the Mets due to right knee discomfort, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Miller got into a jam in the fifth inning and exited with a trainer after tossing 4.2 innings. He said after the game that he was "all good" and said that he wanted to pitch through the issue. Given his postgame comments, it seems unlikely that the right-hander will be forced to miss any turns through the rotation, but he'll presumably be monitored by the team's medical staff in the coming days. Prior to his departure, he allowed a run on three hits and a walk while striking out five.

Petty has a 1.53 ERA and 1.08 WHIP over 35.1 innings so far at High-A Dayton, with 39 strikeouts over that stretch. He hasn't exceeded four innings in a start yet this season, by design, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

The Reds acquired Petty in the Sonny Gray trade before the start of the 2022 season. His name might come up in the ensuing weeks before the MLB trade deadline if they decide to trade for pitching at the big league level.

Lively left Sunday's game against the Brewers after four innings with cramping, but he said he expects to make his next start, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

The right-hander was effective on the mound Sunday, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out three over four innings. Reds manager David Bell suggested afterward that the heat got to Lively, who was forced off the mound after 57 pitches. It doesn't sound like he's is in any danger of missing his next start, but fantasy managers should still proceed with caution given Lively's underwhelming supporting metrics.

Kershaw (shoulder) said Sunday that he expects to throw a bullpen session early this week in Baltimore, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Kershaw's ready to return to elevated ground after three straight days of throwing "full throttle" in the outfield in New York, per Vassegh. The future Hall of Famer's timeline remains vague, as doctors recently recommended more rest. Activation before the end of the Dodgers' current road trip seems iffy.

Wood did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing a run on five hits and three walks over 3.2 innings in an 8-4 win over the Pirates. He struck out one.

Wood needed 67 pitched to make it through just 3.2 innings, though he managed to hold the Pirates to just a single first-inning run while scattering five hits and three walks. The start was Wood's first since June 22, as he's been handling bulk-relief duty for the Giants of late. The 32-year-old southpaw is 4-3 this season with a 4.53 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 50:28 K:BB across 53.2 innings.

Bido did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks over 2.2 innings against the Giants. He struck out three.

Bido's final line could have been worse as he needed 64 pitches to record just eight outs, leaving the game after surrendering three runs in the third inning. The rookie right-hander is 1-1 this season with a 5.00 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 25:12 K:BB across 27 innings. Bido's next start is currently lined up for next weekend against the Angels, though his spot in the rotation could be in jeopardy with top-prospect Quinn Priester scheduled to make his debut with the Pirates on Monday.

Allard left Sunday's game against the White Sox with left shoulder tightness.

Chicago added insult to injury in the form of four runs on seven hits, including a mammoth 461-foot shot off the bat of Jake Burger. Allard retired just five of the 12 batters he faced. His availability for his next start is up in the air. Allard probably isn't long for the rotation anyway with Max Fried (forearm) nearing a return.

Allard left Sunday's game against the White Sox in the second inning after chatting briefly with a team trainer, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Allard did not have it Sunday, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk while recording just five outs. It seems an injury was in play, leaving Allard's availability for his next start up in the air. His ugly outing raised his ERA to 6.57 through 12.1 big-league innings this season.

The Giants plan to activate DeSclafani (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday to make a start in Cincinnati, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

DeSclafani was shelved earlier this month after experiencing right shoulder fatigue, but he completed a rehab start Thursday without issue and will slot back into the rotation when the Giants require a fifth starter for the first time following the All-Star break. In his outing for the Giants' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate this past Thursday, DeSclafani struck out four over four innings and allowed one run on five hits and no walks.
