Suarez (0-2) took the loss Tuesday as the Phillies were downed 2-0 by the Mets, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out four.

The lefty delivered his best performance since coming off the IL in mid-May, but the Phillies offense couldn't get anything going against Kodai Senga. The quality start was Suarez's first in four outings, and while it shaved over two runs off his ERA, he'll still take a 7.13 mark into his next trip to the mound, likely to come this weekend on the road against the Nationals.

Mikolas (4-1) earned the win Tuesday, allowing three hits and one walk over eight scoreless innings against the Royals. He struck out 10.

Mikolas turned in his second straight shutout start, moving to 20.1 consecutive innings without allowing a run. The 34-year-old also matched his career high in strikeouts Tuesday, fanning 10 batters to pick up his fourth win. Through 12 starts (69.2 innings), Mikolas owns a 3.75 ERA and 1.29 WHIP to pair with a 3.87 K/BB. Mikolas' next start is tentatively projected to come against the Rangers, who lead MLB in runs per game with 6.3.

Houser (1-1) took the loss Tuesday, coughing up seven runs (six earned) on 11 hits and three walks over 4.1 innings as the Brewers fell 7-2 to the Blue Jays. He struck out three.

The right-hander got tagged for four runs in the first inning before he'd even gotten a second out, and Milwaukee never recovered. Houser walked multiple batters for the first time in five starts, and he'll take a 4.07 ERA and 17:7 K:BB through 24.1 innings into his next outing, likely to come this weekend in Cincinnati.

Alcantara did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing four runs on five hits and five walks over 6.1 innings against the Padres. He struck out three.

Alcantara's command eluded him again Tuesday, as he's now issued 13 walks over his last four starts (25.2 innings). It's been a tough year overall for Alcantara following his Cy Young-winning campaign. He's 2-5 with a 4.93 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 60:25 K:BB through 11 starts (69.1 innings) this season. Alcantara currently lines up for a friendlier matchup with the A's on Sunday, where he'll look to get his season on track.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Urias (hamstring) threw a 15-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.

"I think the plan is on Saturday [Urias will] throw on the mound, and then probably two or three days after that, he'll do a simulated, three-inning situation," Roberts said. Urias has been on the shelf since May 20 with his left hamstring strain, and that timeline makes it clear the southpaw won't be able to return when he's eligible. The question will be whether he will need to make a rehab start, but assuming there's no setbacks, it seems likely that Urias is pitching for the Dodgers by the middle of June.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that it "makes a lot of sense" for Grove (groin) to be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Saturday against the Yankees, though an official decision hasn't been made yet, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.

Grove has been on the IL since April 21 with a groin strain, but he recently made a second rehab start at Triple-A Oklahoma City and appears to be ready to help an injury-riddled Dodgers rotation. The right-hander has struggled to an 8.44 ERA over his first four starts of the season with the big club, but the Dodgers still may view Grove as a better option at the back end of the rotation than Gavin Stone (14.40 ERA, 3.00 WHIP in three starts).

Lugo (calf) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Lugo also tested his left calf strain with a bit of light jogging. He suffered the injury while making a start against the Royals on May 16 and still has some hurdles to clear, but the situation does appear to be progressing in the right direction -- maybe for a return sometime in early-to-mid June.

Atlanta selected Smith-Shawver's contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Smith-Shawver has ascended to the MLB level at the ripe age of 20 after dominating to the tune of a 1.09 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 45:12 K:BB in 33 innings (seven starts) this season between High-A, Double-A and Triple-A. The young right-hander has never worked out of the bullpen in his pro career, but that seems to be the role he'll fill for the NL East leaders. Lucas Luetge was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Chicago recalled Wesneski from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Wesneski will return to the Cubs in a long relief role ahead of Tuesday night's game against the Rays. He was optioned to Iowa in mid-May after stumbling to a 5.03 ERA through his first 39.1 innings (eight starts) this season with Chicago.

Cueto (biceps) threw a 40-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Cueto has resumed mound workouts in his ongoing recovery from a right biceps injury that sent him to the injured list in early May. He might be an option again for the Marlins' starting rotation before the end of June, though there's no exact timetable at the moment.
