Mitch Keller SP | PIT
Pirates' Mitch Keller: Yields two runs
Keller allowed two runs on six hits and two walks over five innings against the Cardinals on Monday. He struck out five and did not factor in the decision.
Keller fired five shutout frames before coughing up a two-run homer to Albert Pujols in the sixth. The 26-year-old righty finally showed promise at the big league level in 2022 after struggling in his first three MLB seasons. Keller finished the season with a 3.91 ERA and a 138:60 K:BB through 159 frames. After posting a 6.61 ERA through his first seven appearances, he recorded a 3.21 ERA over his next 126.1 innings. Keller's impressive summer likely secured his spot in Pittsburgh's rotation for 2023.

Zach Eflin SP | BAL
Phillies' Zach Eflin: Clinches wild card with save
Eflin picked up the save with a clean inning in Monday's 3-0 win over the Astros. He did not strike out a batter.
In his first career save opportunity, Eflin got the job done, retiring the Astros in order in the ninth inning and securing the Phillies' spot in the playoffs, which will be the team's first postseason appearance since 2011. Eflin has been working out of the bullpen since returning from the 60-day injured list Sept. 11, allowing just one run over 7.2 innings with nine strikeouts, one save and two holds. Eflin was less effective as a starter, albeit in a larger sample, going 3-5 with a 4.37 ERA through 68 innings before being shut down with injury.

Aaron Nola SP | PHI
Phillies' Aaron Nola: Perfection spoiled in seventh
Nola (11-13) earned the win against the Astros on Monday, allowing no runs on two hits and no walks with nine strikeouts over 6.2 innings.
After retiring the first 20 batters of the game, Nola allowed back-to-back singles to Yordan Alvarez and David Hensley with two out in the seventh inning. Interim manager Rob Thomson then pulled Nola with 88 pitches in favor of the L/L matchup between Kyle Tucker and reliever Jose Alvarado, who won the matchup with a punchout to position Nola to earn his 11th victory. Nola closes the regular season currently fourth in the majors with 235 strikeouts to go along with a 3.25 ERA through 205 innings.

Hayden Wesneski SP | HOU
Cubs' Hayden Wesneski: Drops pitcher's duel
Wesneski (3-2) allowed just two runs (one earned) across six innings but took the loss Monday against the Reds. He gave up four hits and a walk, while striking out six.
Wesneski pitched well, but Hunter Greene was better in the 3-1 Cincinnati win. The former looked good in six starts for the Cubs, allowing three earned runs or fewer in each outing, which left him with a 2.18 ERA overall across 33 innings. That should wrap up Wesneski's rookie season, and he's put himself into a strong position to compete for an Opening Day rotation spot in 2023.

Jose Quintana SP | COL
Cardinals' Jose Quintana: Tosses three innings
Quintana allowed one hit and a walk over three scoreless frames against the Pirates on Monday. He did not factor in the decision.
The 33-year-old was scheduled to split the start with Miles Mikolas and each pitcher threw three innings. Quintana ends his 2022 regular season with a strong 2.93 ERA through 32 starts with St. Louis and Pittsburgh. In 62.2 innings as a Cardinal, he posted a terrific 2.01 ERA with a 48:16 K:BB. Quintana allowed two or fewer runs in every appearance he made after the Cardinals acquired him.

J.T. Brubaker RP | SF
Pirates' JT Brubaker: Back in action
Brubaker (arm) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.
Brubaker has been ramping up his throwing program over the last week or so and will return to the mound to make one final start in 2022. He's hurled a career-high 141.1 innings and owns a 4.58 ERA and 1.46 WHIP with a 145:53 K:BB heading into Tuesday's outing.
-
Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
Giants' Carlos Rodon: Could be done for season
Rodon may not make his final start of the regular season due to workload management, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
Manger Gabe Kapler noted Monday that there's a possibility the ace won't make his final scheduled start of the season Tuesday against the Padres, noting his increase in workload during the 2022 campaign. Rodon owns a 14-8 record with a 2.88 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with a 237:52 K:BB across 178 frames, a career high for the southpaw. The team has yet to make a final decision, however.

Carlos Carrasco RP | ATL
Mets' Carlos Carrasco: Scheduled start gets rained out
Carrasco won't start Monday's game against the Nationals as the game has been postponed due to rain, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
DiComo notes that the two teams will play a doubleheader Tuesday, but the Mets have yet to reveal their pitching plans for the twin bill. Carrasco will be a strong candidate to start one of Tuesday's matchups.

Alex Wood RP | ATH
Giants' Alex Wood: Moves to 60-day IL
Wood (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Monday.
Wood's move to the 60-day IL is simply procedural, as the southpaw was ruled out for the remainder of the season in mid-September. The transaction helps make room on the 40-man roster for Andrew Vasquez, whose contract was selected Monday.

Tony Gonsolin RP | KC
Dodgers' Tony Gonsolin: Officially activated ahead of start
Gonsolin (forearm) was activated from the 15-day injured list Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
After spending over a month on the injured list due to a strained right forearm, Gonsolin will return Monday and start against the Rockies. He threw just two innings during his rehab assignment, so he will likely be on a relatively-low pitch count. Andre Jackson will return to Triple-A with the re-addition of Gonsolin to the roster.
