Davies left Monday's start against the Royals due to an apparent lower leg injury, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Davies took a line drive off his lower leg and limped off the field with a trainer. Prior to the injury, he allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks while striking out two across 3.2 innings. He will not factor into the decision, as the game was tied upon his exit. It's not clear whether Davies will be available for his next turn through the rotation.

Brubaker allowed one unearned run on five hits and two walks over 6.2 innings in Monday's win over Colorado. He struck out four and did not factor in the decision.

The lone run to score against Brubaker came in the fourth inning following his own throwing error. He's given up two or fewer runs in three of his last four starts, lowering his season ERA from 6.20 to 4.64 while posting a 26:9 K:BB during that span. Brubaker entered the year with a 9.3 K/9 and a 2.9 BB/9 through two MLB seasons; he's registered a 9.9 K/9 and a 4.4 BB/9 through 42.2 innings in 2022. The 28-year-old is lined up to take the mound in San Diego this weekend.

Peterson was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse and will start Monday against the Giants, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

The roster move was a formality, as the Mets announced Sunday that Peterson would take the ball to open the series in San Francisco. Peterson has split time between Syracuse and the majors early this season, and he's delivered a 1.89 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with a 16:8 K:BB across 19 innings in New York. Jake Reed was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse in the corresponding move.

Megill (biceps) played long toss Monday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Megill felt good afterward, and he continues to make progress in his recovery from biceps tendinitis. Manager Buck Showalter has already stated Megill will need to make a rehab appearance before returning, so his activation from the injured list is not imminent.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Peralta (lat) will miss "significant" time but is expected to pitch again this season, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Peralta was placed on the injured list Monday with a right lat strain, and he'll now be in line for a lengthy absence. Aaron Ashby will enter the rotation Wednesday in San Diego and should serve as Milwaukee's No. 5 starter while Peralta is sidelined.

Heaney (shoulder) threw 30-to-35 pitches over two innings during a bullpen session Monday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Heaney threw 30 pitches in a bullpen session Friday, and he had a similar pitch count while throwing off a mound. Manager Dave Roberts is optimistic the southpaw will be able to face hitters following Monday's session, but the team will wait to see how Heaney feels Tuesday before determining his next steps.

The MRI that Matz underwent Sunday revealed nothing overly concerning, though the Cardinals still elected to place him on the 15-day injured list Monday after he was diagnosed with a left shoulder impingement, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

President of baseball operations John Mozeliak wasn't willing to commit to Matz returning from the IL after a minimum stint, as the Cardinals first want to see how the southpaw responds to a few days of rest before a determination is made on the next course of action. Mozeliak acknowledged that he was hopeful Matz will be able to pitch "through the season," which suggests the Cardinals aren't fearing a long-term absence for the 30-year-old, who has turned in a 6.03 ERA and 1.39 WHIP through his first nine starts with St. Louis. Matthew Liberatore is in line to replace Matz in the rotation beginning with Saturday's game against Milwaukee.

The Reds placed Overton (back) on the 60-day injured list Monday, retroactive to Friday.

The transaction ensures that Overton will be sidelined through the All-Star break and frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for outfielder Aristides Aquino, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. As Mark Sheldon of MLB.com notes, Overton will be shut down from throwing for 6-to-8 weeks after he was diagnosed Monday with a stress reaction in his lower back, so it may take until August before he's fully built up for starting duty. Once he's back to 100 percent healthy and fully stretched out, Overton may not have a spot waiting for him in the Cincinnati rotation, despite turning in a 1.82 ERA and 0.89 WHIP in 24.2 innings through his first four starts with the big club.

Heaney (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Monday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Heaney has been out since mid-April due to a shoulder issue, but he's taking steps toward his return. Manager Dave Roberts indicated that the lefty needed one more bullpen session before being cleared to face hitters, so that clearance should be coming soon.
