Gutierrez didn't factor in the decision during Wednesday's 14-11 win over the Brewers after giving up four runs on six hits over 4.2 innings. He had six strikeouts and two walks.

The 26-year-old was staked to a 7-0 lead of the first two innings but was unable to last the necessary five frames in order to qualify for his first win of the year. The no-decision was still progress for Gutierrez, as he took the loss in each of his previous five starts. The right-hander has an 8.65 ERA, 1.96 WHIP and 19:15 K:BB across 26 innings and lines up to pitch during the two-game set in Cleveland next week.

Houser (3-3) was charged with the loss Wednesday against the Reds after allowing seven runs (three earned) on six hits with four walks and three strikeouts across four innings.

Houser was hurt by an error during the opening frame which resulted in four unearned runs coming across, and he also struggled in the second inning as Cincinnati struck for three more runs. The loss broke a string of three straight victories for the right-hander, and it was already the fourth time this season he's walked at least three batters in an outing. Houser has a 3.86 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 25:15 K:BB across 30.1 innings and lines up to pitch early next week versus Atlanta.

Pepiot allowed one hit and walked five while striking out three across three scoreless innings Wednesday against the Pirates. He did not factor into the decision.

Pepiot was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to the game to make his big-league debut. He struggled to consistently find the zone, as he hit a batter -- in addition to his five walks -- and only 40 of his 77 pitches went for strikes. That portion of his performance wasn't particularly surprising given that he has a 4.4 BB/9 across 68 innings with Oklahoma City, and there isn't a compelling reason to believe that his control problems will improve in the immediate future. Even so, with the Dodgers in line for a doubleheader Tuesday, Pepiot will likely get to take another turn through the rotation.

Cobb (2-1) earned the win Wednesday after tossing 5.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits and two walks while striking out six against the Rockies.

Cobb held the Rockies scoreless over the first five frames, ultimately getting pulled with one out in the six inning and seeing one of the runners he left on base come around to score. The 34-year-old has put together two consecutive strong starts after only lasting two-thirds of an inning versus the Nationals on May 1, allowing just three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out 14 over 10.1 frames in those outings. In his first season with the Giants, Cobb owns a 3.98 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 28 punchouts in 20.1 innings over six starts.

Alcantara pitched seven innings, giving up one run on two hits and three walks in the win Wednesday over the Diamondbacks. He struck out six and did not factor into the decision.

The only blemish on Alcantara's line came in the bottom of the third inning when Alek Thomas took him deep for a solo shot. Overall, the 26-year-old has rebounded well after a tough five-run outing against the Mariners on May 1, surrendering three runs over 11.2 innings while striking out 11 in his last two starts. Alcantara will carry a 2.74 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 37 punchouts into his next outing, which tentatively lines up to be Tuesday versus the Nationals.

Kelly pitched five innings, surrendering three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out two in the loss to the Marlins on Wednesday. He did not factor into the decision.

Kelly gave up a two-run homer to Joey Wendle in the first inning and then an RBI single to Jacob Stallings the next frame. The outing was his shortest since his first start of the year April 8 and the two punchouts were a season low. After posting four straight quality starts -- a stretch where he produced a 1.63 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 21 strikeouts over 27.2 innings -- the streak was snapped Wednesday. Kelly now sports a 1.71 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 38 punchouts through six starts in 2022.

Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Strasburg (neck) is scheduled to throw another simulated game at extended spring training this weekend, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Strasburg felt good coming out of his two-inning simulated game Tuesday, so he'll face hitters for the second time this week and presumably increase his pitch count. The Nationals will reassess Strasburg after the simulated game before potentially mapping out a minor-league rehab assignment for the right-hander. Washington has thus far resisted moving Strasburg to the 60-day injured list, which signals that the team is leaving the door open for him to make his season debut for the big club before June 7.

Wheeler is scheduled to join the Phillies in Los Angeles and return from the COVID-19 injured list to start Thursday's series opener against the Dodgers, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Along with Zach Eflin, Wheeler was one of two Philadelphia starting pitchers to land on the COVID-19 IL over the weekend. Though Eflin has yet to be activated after testing positive for the virus, Wheeler was able to clear MLB's COVID-19-related protocols in swifter fashion. He'll be returning to the mound Thursday following more than a week of rest after tossing a season-high 7.2 innings in his last outing May 4 against the Rangers.

Corry underwent surgery on his left shoulder earlier this week and is without a clear timeline for a return, Melissa Lockard of The Athletic reports. He was placed on High-A Eugene's 7-day injured list Sunday.

The Giants plan to send him in for additional follow-up examinations with a doctor before establishing a timeline for his return, but even if Corry's procedure was an arthroscopic one, there's a good chance he'll be sidelined for the remainder of the season. The 23-year-old lefty made one start for Eugene this season, covering 2.1 innings and giving up one earned run on three hits and two walks.

Falter was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.

Falter had already been named the starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Mariners, so his call-up was expected. The southpaw's first four major-league appearances this year came out of the bullpen, but he made two starts in Lehigh Valley and is expected to be stretched out to around 60-to-65 pitches. If Zack Wheeler (undisclosed) and Zach Eflin (illness) are cleared to return from the COVID-19 injured list soon, Falter will likely return to the minors or the major-league bullpen following Wednesday's start.
