Meyer could be promoted to join the big-league rotation in the near future, Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald reports.

While the Marlins have had some internal discussions about using their top pitching prospect in the big-league bullpen, where his fastball-slider combination could be dominant, Meyer's success at Triple-A this season -- as well as the struggles of Elieser Hernandez in the Miami rotation -- make it more likely he will debut as a starter. The 23-year-old right-hander has a 1.71 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 33:6 K:BB through 26.1 innings over five starts for Triple-A Jacksonville, while Hernandez has stumbled to a 6.66 ERA and 1.44 WHIP through five starts for the Marlins, including a poor outing against Arizona on Wednesday. While no switch appears imminent, further struggles from Hernandez could accelerate the timeline for Meyer to make his Miami debut.

Wood (2-2) took the loss against the Dodgers on Wednesday, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven over 5.1 innings.

The southpaw cruised through three innings against the team for whom he has logged two stints, but Los Angeles broke through with two runs against him in the fourth. Mookie Betts then tagged Wood for a solo shot in the sixth, and the pitcher exited after facing just one additional batter. Wood did manage to rack up a season-high seven strikeouts in the outing, and he induced 13 swinging strikes overall. He'll carry a 4.38 ERA into his next start, which is on the schedule for Monday at home against Colorado.

Gonsolin (2-0) earned the win Wednesday against the Giants, tossing five innings and allowing one run on three hits and one walk while striking out five.

Brandon Crawford got to Gonsolin for a second-inning solo home run, but that was the only tally the Giants were able to record against him Wednesday. The right-hander again didn't go very deep in the outing -- he hasn't thrown more than 83 pitches in a start this season -- but he hung around long enough to earn his second victory. Gonsolin has taken full advantage of his opportunity to begin the season in the rotation, registering a 1.64 ERA and 1.09 WHIP across 22 innings despite a less promising 18:9 K:BB. He's tentatively slated to make his next start in Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

Corbin (0-5) suffered the loss against Colorado on Wednesday, completing eight innings during which he allowed five runs (three earned) on nine hits and no walks while striking out three.

It was an odd stat line for the veteran hurler, as he made it through eight innings on only 94 pitches despite allowing a fair amount of traffic on the bases. The efficiency was largely due to Corbin's good control -- he did not walk any batters after issuing multiple free passes in each of his first five starts this season. All of the damage against him was done in the fourth inning, when the Rockies racked up five runs on four hits and benefitted from a fielding error. To Corbin's credit, he bounced back strongly from that frame, allowing only two hits the rest of the way and retiring the final nine batters he faced. The southpaw has been better of late, but he still owns an ugly 7.16 ERA on the season, and he's tentatively lined up to next face the Mets at home early next week.

Gomber (2-2) earned the win over Washington on Wednesday, completing 6.2 innings and allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out six.

Gomber was fairly efficient during his outing, throwing 94 pitches (62 of which were strikes) over 6.2 frames. He racked up an impressive 19 swinging strikes and struck out exactly six batters for the second straight game. After a rough start to the campaign, the left-hander has turned things around with three straight quality starts, during which he has posted a 1.93 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 20:2 K:BB across 18.2 innings. He'll look to keep rolling when he faces the Giants in San Francisco early next week.

Hendricks (1-3) allowed four runs on seven hits and one walk over 5.2 innings Wednesday to take the loss against the White Sox. He struck out two.

Hendricks' outing got off to a rough start when Jose Abreu drilled a solo homer off him in the first inning, and he later gave up a single run in each of the third, fourth and sixth frames. This was an improvement over his previous appearance, when he gave up six runs over 4.1 frames versus Milwaukee, but it continued the inconsistency the veteran hurler has shown so far this season. Hendricks has given up four or more runs in three of his six starts while holding the opponent to two or fewer runs in the other three outings. He'll carry a disappointing 5.64 ERA into his next appearance, which is slated to come in San Diego early next week.

Peralta (1-1) picked up the win Wednesday after he pitched five innings, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks while registering seven punchouts against the Reds.

Peralta surrendered two runs in the top of the first inning on a Mike Moustakas single and Colin Moran sacrifice fly. The final run on his line came in the fifth frame when TJ Friedl scored on a Brandon Drury sacrifice fly. The 25-year-old notched his first win of the 2022 campaign Wednesday while also matching his season high with seven strikeouts. Peralta has now allowed three or fewer runs in four of five starts this season, posting a 5.09 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with 30 punchouts over 23 innings.

Gutierrez (0-5) took the loss in Wednesday's 18-4 defeat at the hands of the Brewers, surrendering seven runs on eight hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 4.1 innings.

Gutierrez got shelled in this one, giving up two homers, including a Rowdy Tellez grand slam in the bottom of the third inning. He has now allowed 13 runs over his last two starts, helping lead to an inflated 8.86 ERA and 2.02 WHIP with 13 strikeouts over 21.1 innings in five starts. Given his struggles thus far, the Reds may well explore other starting options before Gutierrez's next turn comes up.

Megill (4-1) allowed three earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out nine across 5.1 innings to take the loss Tuesday against Atlanta.

Megill didn't allow a hit through four innings -- though he did walk two batters -- but he began to struggle in the latter portions of his outing. He exited the game with the bases loaded and all three of those runners ultimately came around to score, which resulted in his first loss of the season. Despite the disappointing end to his start, Megill still generated 15 swinging strikes on 94 total pitches. He also still maintains a strong 2.45 ERA backed by a 35:8 K:BB across his first 33 innings on the campaign.

Wainwright (3-3) earned the win Wednesday in Kansas City after allowing one hit with two strikeouts and one walk across seven scoreless innings.

The veteran right-hander threw 60 of his 89 pitches for strikes but generated only eight swinging strikes, which resulted in a season-low two punchouts. The lack of whiffs didn't matter much Wednesday, as Wainwright allowed only one single and induced 15 groundball outs. The 40-year-old has a 3.18 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 28:13 K:BB over 34 innings this season, and he next lines up to pitch Tuesday versus the Orioles.
