Wood (1-0) allowed four hits and two walks over five scoreless innings Sunday, striking out five and earning a win over Cleveland.

Wood never found himself in much danger Sunday; only two Guardians reached scoring position and he gave up just one extra-base hit. He tossed 59 of 87 pitches for strikes and forced eight whiffs. The 31-year-old southpaw is now sporting a 1.93 ERA through 9.1 innings. Wood is expected to take the mound in Washington next week.

Heaney (1-0) registered the win during Sunday's 9-1 victory over Cincinnati, allowing three walks and a hit with 11 strikeouts in six scoreless innings.

Heaney overpowered a rebuilding Reds team while putting his strikeout upside on full display, scattering four baserunners across six easy innings while staying under 90 pitches. The 30-year-old has yet to surrender an earned run through 10.1 innings while placing among the league leaders with 16 strikeouts. He's currently slated to pitch Saturday in San Diego for his next start.

Wheeler (0-2) took the loss, allowing seven runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out three over three innings in an 11-3 loss Sunday in Miami.

After Wheeler pitched a scoreless first inning, the first four Miami batters reached safely and scored in the second. The Marlins tacked on another run in the third, and after the first three batters reached in the fourth, Wheeler was removed. Typically a pitcher with great command, the 2021 All-Star has walked four batters and hit three more in 7.2 innings this season. He will look to bounce back in his next scheduled start, Saturday against Milwaukee.

The Padres list Gore as their probable starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Reds in San Diego, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

With both Blake Snell (groin) and Mike Clevinger (knee) set to remain on the injured list during the upcoming week, Gore will receive at least one more turn through San Diego's rotation. The 23-year-old lefty didn't make many bats miss (three strikeouts) in his MLB debut Friday, but he did well to limit a potent Atlanta offense to two runs on three hits and two walks over 5.1 innings while taking a no-decision.

Clevinger (knee) is on track to make his second minor-league rehab start Tuesday for Triple-A El Paso, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Tuesday's start could be the final one of Clevinger's rehab assignment, especially if he's able to build on the solid two-inning, five-strikeout performance he turned in for Low-A Lake Elsinore on Thursday. Clevinger tossed 31 pitches in the start for Lake Elsinore, so the Padres will presumably want to see him reach the 50-pitch mark Tuesday to put himself in consideration for a return from the 10-day injured list during the final week of April.

Snell (groin) is in line to throw a bullpen session Tuesday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Though Snell wasn't able to avoid the injured list due to his left groin injury, he could be in store for a minimum-length stay on the shelf if his throwing session Tuesday goes according to plan. However, with Snell due to miss a second straight turn through the rotation Wednesday versus the Reds, rookie MacKenzie Gore will pick up at least one more start.

Walker (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Sunday, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.

Although Walker was able to throw a bullpen after playing catch Thursday and Friday, manager Buck Showalter said afterward that the right-hander will likely require more than one rehab start prior to rejoining the major-league club. The Mets haven't yet revealed when his rehab assignment will begin, but it's possible that he'll be able to return to the majors sometime in early May.

Peterson pitched 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out four in a 5-0 win Sunday against Arizona. He did not factor into the decision.

Peterson did not allow a runner past second base in his first start of the season. The lefty wasn't exactly efficient, needing 80 pitches to get through 4.1 innings, but he got the job done. After not making the team out of spring training, the 26-year-old has pitched very well to start the season and has yet to allow a run in 8.1 innings. He is scheduled to start against the Diamondbacks again on Friday in Arizona.

DeSclafani allowed two runs on five hits while striking out four across 4.2 innings in a no-decision Saturday against the Guardians.

DeSclafani tossed 40 of his 64 pitches for strikes in this one and his command has been quite good to start the season, as he owns a 9:1 K:BB through 8.1 innings in 2022. He's looking to build off a strong campaign last season in which he posted a 3.17 ERA with a 1.09 WHIP across 167.2 frames, and he will try to earn his first win of the season in his next scheduled start, tabbed for April 21 on the road against the Mets.

Gallen allowed two hits and one walk while striking out two across four shutout innings Saturday against the Mets. He did not factor into the decision.

Gallen turned in a solid season debut and stayed out of trouble by not allowing any runners into scoring position. He relied primarily on inducing soft contact, though he also racked up eight swinging strikes across 66 total pitches. The only downside to the effort was the lack of length, but that was to be expected as he dealt with both shoulder and thumb issues prior to his opening outing. Gallen should be able to work a bit deeper in his second turn through the rotation, currently projected to come Thursday at Washington.
