Freeland (0-2) allowed nine runs (eight earned) on eight hits and a walk with two strikeouts in four-plus innings, taking the loss versus Cincinnati on Friday.

Freeland allowed one home run in each of the first five innings -- he was relieved by Yency Almonte after Tyler Stephenson's solo shot led off the fifth inning. Friday was by far the worst of Freeland's four starts this year. The southpaw has struggled to a 9.00 ERA, 2.12 WHIP and 9:9 K:BB across 17 innings. A lack of better starting options on the major-league roster keeps Freeland in the rotation. He is projected for an unfavorable home start versus San Diego next week.

Mahle (6-2) allowed four runs on five hits and a walk with six strikeouts in six innings, earning the win over Colorado on Friday.

The right-hander cruised through five innings before allowing all four runs in the sixth. A wild pitch and a three-run home run by Ryan McMahon accounted for the damage against Mahle. The 26-year-old has given up just six runs in his last 23.1 innings across four starts, all wins. For the year, he's posted a 3.56 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 78:21 K:BB across 68.1 innings. He lines up for a road start versus Milwaukee next week.

DeGrom (flexor tendonitis) is hopeful that he will make his next start, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

He has dealt with elbow issues before without missing much time, and he said his level of concern with this current injury is "not too high." DeGrom had been feeling it all week but felt great ahead of Friday's start against the Padres, and indeed he was nearly flawless over six shutout innings prior to exiting with the injury. Trainers apparently did several ligament tests on his elbow and everything checked out OK. If he doesn't end up missing any time, deGrom lines up to start Wednesday at home against the Cubs.

DeGrom left Friday's start against the Padres with right flexor tendonitis, which is a finger injury, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

He was nearly unhittable, giving up one hit, zero runs and zero walks while striking out 10 over six frames. DeGrom's pitch count was up to 80, so he probably would have logged one more inning at most even if he was fully healthy. He has come back quickly from injuries that have sounded more serious than this one, so he should be considered questionable for next week's start at home against the Cubs.

Oviedo gave up four earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out five in 4.1 innings Friday against the Cubs. He did not factor in the decision.

He has now failed to log more than 4.1 innings in five straight outings, which makes it difficult to deploy him in most fantasy formats. Oviedo is only in the rotation because four of the Cardinals' top starters are on the injured list. He could get another start in the middle of next week, either at home for the Marlins or in Atlanta.

Lauer will serve at least temporarily as the Brewers' sixth starter and will get the ball Monday against the Reds, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The Brewers are in the middle of a 16-day stretch with no off days and want to give their regular rotation some extra rest, so they'll turn to Lauer for a start or two. The lefty has made four starts and three relief appearances this season, posting a poor 4.82 ERA despite a solid combination of a 27.0 percent strikeout rate and a 7.4 percent walk rate.

Gallen (elbow) will throw a 45-pitch simulated game Saturday, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

He completed a 32-pitch simulated game Monday and will advance to three innings/45 pitches this weekend. Gallen will presumably advance to a rehab assignment if he continues progressing without setbacks and is tracking toward a late-June return to the big-league rotation. However, given the nature of his injury, there is some risk of a setback every time he takes the mound.

Carrasco received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his strained right hamstring in the past few days, which explains why his throwing program has been paused, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The Mets said that Carrasco's pause wasn't due to a setback, though the fact that he needed additional treatment for an issue that he's been dealing with since mid-March contradicts that notion. Even before the injection, he was tracking toward a return in late June or early July, so the pause probably pushes him toward a mid-July return if all goes well.

Kim (back) will throw a side session Friday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Kim hit the injured list with lower-back tightness Saturday, but the Cardinals didn't seem too concerned about a long absence for the lefty. That remains the case, as he's expected back sooner rather than later and won't need a rehab assignment. Exactly when the team expects to activate him remains unclear, however.

Anderson allowed four hits and one walk while striking out four across seven scoreless innings Thursday against the Phillies. He did not factor into the decision.

Anderson kept pace with his counterpart Zack Wheeler by matching his longest start of the season and turning in his third scoreless effort. He didn't post gaudy strikeout or swinging strike numbers but limited the Phillies to just one extra-base hit. The strong effort lowered his ERA to 3.26 for the season, which he's supplemented with a 69:26 K:BB across 66.1 frames.
