Strasburg (shoulder) threw a 62-pitch sim game Tuesday and the team will determine his next step at the end of the week, Maria Torres of The Athletic reports.

The righty threw 12 more pitches than expected, a positive sign as he continues to recover from inflammation in his throwing shoulder. Strasburg will either proceed by beginning a rehab assignment or throwing another sim game, depending on the Nationals' decision at the end of the week.

Burnes (COVID-19) will start Thursday's game against the Cardinals, manager Craig Counsell told MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM.

The righty last appeared April 26 in what was his worst start of the season to date, allowing four earned runs in five innings against the Marlins. Despite the rough outing, Burnes still boasts a 1.53 ERA and his high-strikeout, low-walk dominance place him right back in the top tier of MLB starters upon Thursday's return.

Martinez was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right ankle injury Tuesday.

Martinez acknowledged after his last start that he was pitching through pain after twisting his ankle, and it showed in the box score, as he allowed five runs. The Cardinals had previously listed Martinez as the scheduled starter for Friday's game against the Padres, but they've evidently changed plans. It's presently unclear whether Martinez is expected to miss more than one start. Johan Oviedo was recalled in a corresponding move.

The Cardinals recalled Oviedo from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

St. Louis summoned Oviedo from the minors as a replacement for Carlos Martinez (ankle), who was moved to the 10-day injured list. Martinez had been in line to make a start this weekend in San Diego, so Oviedo could be plugged into the rotation in the short term if he isn't needed out of the bullpen for the Cardinals' upcoming three-game series with the Brewers. Oviedo has previously made three appearances (two starts) for St. Louis this season, posting a 4.61 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 13:4 K:BB in 13.2 innings.

Kelly's season has been delayed by a shoulder injury sustained during the late stages of minor-league training camp, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Kelly underwent an MRI that came back clean and will be held back for a couple of weeks. The eighth-round draft in 2018 pitched at the Diamondbacks' alternate summer camp last year but hasn't thrown in a competitive game since 2019.

Wood (4-0) allowed one run on four hits and three walks over seven innings Monday, striking out seven and picking up the win over Texas.

Wood was locked into a pitchers' duel with Kyle Gibson until the Giants pulled ahead against the Rangers' bullpen. The 6-foot-4 southpaw threw 65 of 99 pitches for strikes and lowered his season ERA to 1.80 in 30 frames. He's now tossed at least five innings while allowing fewer than three runs in each of his five appearances this season. Wood is lined up to take the mound in Pittsburgh this weekend.

Mahle (2-1) picked up the win after allowing one run on four hits and four walks while striking out seven across 5.1 innings Monday against the Pirates.

Mahle didn't have his best command in this one, and while he did allow plenty of traffic due to walks, he was able to limit the damage to just one run. Following an offensive explosion by Cincinnati in the fourth, Mahle would exit the contest with a comfortable 8-1 lead. Monday's outing was a welcome sight for the right-hander, who was coming off an ugly start against the Cubs in which he was tagged for six runs (three homers) in five innings of work. Mahle owns a 3.00 ERA and 1.17 WHIP to go with a 48:15 K:BB across 36 frames in 2021.

Keller (2-4) took the loss after giving up seven runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out two over 3.1 innings Monday against the Reds.

Keller needed just six pitches to get through the first inning, but he found trouble in the fourth, surrendering six runs in the frame. This marks the second time this season Keller has given up seven runs in an outing, boosting his ERA to 7.81 across 27.2 innings. His next start tentatively lines up for Saturday against San Francisco.

Darvish will start Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Rockies, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Darvish was initially expected to start Tuesday's contest, but he'll now start the first game of a twin bill after Monday's series opener was postponed. Dinelson Lamet will take the mound for Tuesday's matchup against Colorado.

The Mets plan to place deGrom (side) on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Though the MRI deGrom required following his early exit from Sunday's start against the Diamondbacks revealed no structural issues or long-term concerns, the Mets seem content to err on the side of caution and shut the right-hander down for the week. Assuming his injured right side shows improvement over the next few days while he rests up, deGrom looks like he'll be on track to return from the IL when first eligible May 21 or shortly thereafter.
