Verlander is currently slated to make his next start at home against Washington this weekend, when he'll aim to become the 10th pitcher all-time to reach the 3,500 career strikeout plateau, as he presently sits at 3,497.

Alcantara (6-10) suffered the loss Monday versus Houston, allowing six runs on nine hits and one walk over seven innings. He struck out five.

The Miami right-hander was cruising through the first three frames of this 100-pitch outing, firing three clean innings. Then the floodgates opened in the fourth, as Alcantara conceded five runs on six hits, including three doubles. This marks the sixth time this season the former Cy Young Award winner has allowed six or more runs out of 22 total starts. Alcantara will carry a 6.44 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 86:43 K:BB across 116 total innings into his next start, currently scheduled to come at Atlanta this weekend.

Soroka was removed after two innings in his start Monday against Cincinnati due to right shoulder discomfort, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Soroka can be considered day-to-day until the team has a chance to re-evaluate the right-hander over the next few days. Ben Brown, who took over for Soroka on Monday, would be a candidate to take Soroka's place in the rotation if he's unable to make his next start. Soroka struck out three and allowed one earned run on one hit and one walk over two frames in his Cubs debut.

Soroka left his start Monday against the Reds due to an apparent injury, Mike McGraw of the Chicago Daily Herald reports. He allowed one earned run on one hit and one walk while striking out three over two innings prior to departing.

The team has yet to provide an update on Soroka, whose team debut was cut short after he tossed just 31 pitches over two frames. Ben Brown was called upon to work in long-relief option following Soroka's early exit.

Lodolo left Monday's game against the Cubs in the second inning due to a blister on his left index finger, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Lodolo has dealt with blister issues previously in his career, per Wittenmyer, though it's unclear how long this current injury will keep him sidelined. The team will presumably monitor the left hander closely over the next few days to determine whether a trip to the injured list is warranted. Lodolo struck out one batter over 1.2 perfect innings prior to his departure.

Lodolo exited his start Monday against the Cubs due to an undisclosed injury, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. He struck out one across 1.2 perfect innings before exiting.

The nature of the injury that forced Lodolo from the game isn't clear, but the Reds' team trainer appeared to be examining the southpaw's pitching hand, which could indicate that the hurler was dealing with a blister. The team should have an update on Lodolo after the game.

Reds manager Terry Francona said Monday that Greene (groin) will make another rehab start with Triple-A Louisville on Friday, Casey Drottar of MLB.com reports.

Greene tossed 66 pitches in his third rehab start Sunday, allowing two runs (zero earned) with seven strikeouts over 3.1 innings. He will get stretched out to around 80 pitches Friday in what is likely to be his final rehab outing before rejoining the Reds' rotation. Greene hasn't pitched for Cincinnati since early June because of a nagging right groin strain.

Roupp (elbow) will throw a live batting practice session Tuesday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Roupp is eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list Aug. 6, and while he will not be ready on that date, it shouldn't take much longer. The right-hander has missed the last two weeks of action with right elbow inflammation.

Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said Monday that Schwellenbach (elbow) has yet to resume throwing, and the right-hander appears unlikely to return this season, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Schwellenbach is a little more than a month removed from suffering a small fracture in his pitching elbow. While Atlanta has yet to officially rule the right-hander out for the season, he's without a timeline to resume throwing, and he'll need extended time to be built back up once he picks up a baseball. With Atlanta already essentially out of the playoff picture, the club has little incentive to push Schwellenbach to return in September.

Lopez (shoulder) recently resumed playing catch but remains without a timeline to return from the 60-day injured list, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

The right-hander underwent arthroscopic surgery April 1 and was cleared to start throwing again after the All-Star break, but he remains in the early stages of his rehab program. Lopez still appears to have a shot at returning before the end of the season, but if he doesn't advance to throwing off a mound within the next week or two, he likely won't have enough time to get stretched back out for a starting role. Pitching out of the bullpen in September could be an option, however.
