Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rockies' Jon Gray: Lands on injured list
Gray was placed on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation, retroactive to Sept. 2.
Gray was shelled by the Giants on Tuesday as he allowed seven runs on nine hits over 2.2 innings, and his injury could have contributed to his struggles. It's unclear how much time he's expected to miss as a result of his shoulder issue. Right-hander Jose Mujica was recalled from alternate camp and could take Gray's place in the starting rotation while he's sidelined.

Drew Smyly SP | CHC
Giants' Drew Smyly: Facing hitters again
Smyly (finger) will throw three innings in a simulated game Saturday, Amy Gutierrez of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Smyly has been out for over a month with a strained left index finger, but he appears to be closing in on a return. He owned a 3.24 ERA and an 11:4 K:BB in 8.1 innings prior to suffering the injury.

Ian Anderson RP | ATL
Braves' Ian Anderson: Receives extra rest day
Anderson will start Monday's game against the Marlins, 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.
The rookie lined up for a two-start week after earning the win Tuesday against the Red Sox, but Josh Tomlin had his start pushed to Sunday, which also bumps back Anderson's outing. The 22-year-old has allowed only three runs on seven hits with a 14:3 K:BB through his first 12 innings.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Braves' Cole Hamels: Live batting practice scheduled
Hamels (triceps) will throw a live batting practice session Sunday, 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.
Hamels has been dealing with shoulder and triceps issues dating back to spring training, but he appears to still have time to make it back in time to make a start or two before the end of the regular season. The veteran lefty may be well past his peak, but he recorded ERAs of 3.78 and 3.81 in the last two seasons and can certainly still help Atlanta's rotation if he's able to pitch at something close to that level down the stretch.

Wade Miley SP | CIN
Reds' Wade Miley: Pitches simulated game
Miley (shoulder) will pitch a simulated game Friday at the Reds' alternate training facility at Prasco, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Manager David Bell suggested that Miley could rejoin the Reds on their current road trip, but didn't specify exactly when. That could become pertinent with Sonny Gray's next start getting pushed back.

Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Reds' Sonny Gray: Will not pitch Sunday
Gray will not pitch as scheduled Sunday against the Pirates, instead pitching next week against the Cubs, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Gray got roughed up by the Cardinals in his last start and his lower half may have been out of sync during his delivery. According to Rosecrans, the veteran right-hander indicated he's healthy and is just receiving some extra rest between starts.

Huascar Ynoa SP | LAA
Braves' Huascar Ynoa: Starting Friday's nightcap
Ynoa will start Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader against the Nationals, 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.
Ynoa tossed one inning of relief Tuesday, but he'll rejoin the rotation this weekend with the doubleheader Friday. Ynoa has a 3.86 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 6:7 K:BB through 9.1 innings this season.

Clayton Kershaw SP | LAD
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Spins six scoreless frames
Kershaw (5-1) picked up the win Thursday after holding the Diamondbacks scoreless across six innings. He allowed one hit and a pair of walks while striking out eight.
Kershaw was lights-out en route to his fourth consecutive win and the Dodgers' 10th straight. By recording eight more strikeouts, the 32-year-old became the third-youngest pitcher in major-league history to reach the 2,500-strikeout milestone. Kershaw has been nothing short of dominant this season, compiling a brilliant 1.50 ERA and 0.72 WHIP across six starts. The southpaw will take the mound again for a rematch with the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Carlos Martinez SP | SF
Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Could return Tuesday
Martinez (illness) is a candidate to be activated from the COVID-19 injured list and start Tuesday against the Twins, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
The right-hander has been progressively building his arm back up in order to return as a starter, with his latest effort in that regard a four-inning simulated game Wednesday. The Cardinals will work through their existing rotation over a five-game weekend series against the Cubs that begins Friday, setting the stage for Martinez to likely handle one of the two games in Tuesday's twin bill.

Mike Clevinger RP | PIT
Padres' Mike Clevinger: Takes tough loss in Padres debut
Clevinger (0-1) took the loss against the Angels on Thursday, allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk in six innings while striking out two.
Clevinger was effective in his first start in a Padres uniform, notching his third quality start of the campaign and yielding only a pair of runs. However, he was outmatched by opposing starter Andrew Heaney, who shut out the league's top scoring offense over seven frames. Though Clevinger managed a season-low two strikeouts in the contest, he worked his way around eight baserunners with the help of a double play and two runners thrown out by catcher Austin Nola attempting to steal second base. Clevinger's next turn will come Tuesday when he faces Colorado at home.
