Eric Lauer SP | LAD
Padres' Eric Lauer: Short outing Saturday
Lauer (8-9) took the loss versus the Rockies on Saturday, allowing six runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks over 2.1 innings. He struck out two.
Lauer was victimized for three runs in the second, and another three were tacked onto his line before Luis Perdomo relieved him in the third. The Padres put together a five-run rally in the eighth but couldn't even the score, saddling Lauer with the loss. The southpaw has a 4.60 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 139 innings this season and lines up to face the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Seth Lugo SP | KC
Mets' Seth Lugo: Dominant in eighth inning
Lugo (6-3) struck out the side during a scoreless eighth inning Saturday against the Dodgers, picking up the win when the Mets took the lead in the bottom of the frame.
Fantasy owners may be most interested in Lugo at the moment due to his potential for saves down the stretch, though it's hard to complain about a win and three strikeouts. Justin Wilson wound up recording the save.

Anthony DeSclafani RP | ARI
Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Unfortunate loss Saturday
DeSclafani (9-9) shined Saturday, allowing just one run on one hit and striking out five over seven innings, but he took the loss versus the Diamondbacks.
Only Nick Ahmed got on base versus DeSclafani, but he did so with a triple. Jarrod Dyson's sacrifice fly was enough to tag DeSclafani with a tough loss. The right-hander now owns a 3.93 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with a career-high 155 strikeouts over 155.2 innings this year. DeSclafani will likely start Friday's series opener against the Mets.

Merrill Kelly SP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly: Stellar in win over Reds
Kelly (11-14) earned the win Saturday, tossing seven scoreless innings during which he allowed three hits and two walks while striking out five in a 1-0 victory over the Reds.
The Diamondbacks mustered just a single hit against Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani, but combined with a sacrifice fly, it was enough for Kelly to work with. Kelly has now allowed three runs or less in five of his last six starts, posting a 3.44 ERA in that span. For the season, the 30-year-old owns a 4.49 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 170.1 innings. Kelly's next start is projected to come on the road in San Diego on Friday.

Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR
Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Throws seven scoreless innings
Ryu struck out six batters in seven scoreless innings while allowing just two hits Saturday against the Mets. He did not factor into the decision.
Ryu was stellar throughout his start, allowing nothing more than a pair of two-out singles, but Mets' starter (and fellow Cy Young candidate) Jacob deGrom matched him with seven scoreless frames of his own. The Mets would eventually get the win against the Dodgers' bullpen. The start was a very encouraging rebound for Ryu, who had failed to get out of the fifth inning in each of his last three starts.

Jacob deGrom SP | TEX
Mets' Jacob deGrom: No decision in pitchers' duel
DeGrom didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Dodgers despite striking out eight in seven scoreless innings and allowing just three hits.
DeGrom tossed a gem, allowing just four total baserunners (including a hit by pitch). Hyun-Jin Ryu was equally excellent, however, throwing seven scoreless frames of his own, though the Mets would eventually win the contest after both starters had left the game. DeGrom lowered his ERA to 2.61 with the start and will look to whittle it down further Friday in Cincinnati.

Kyle Freeland SP | COL
Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Tosses bullpen session
Freeland (groin) threw a bullpen session Saturday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Freeland has been out with a groin strain since Aug. 20. He's expected to throw live batting practice soon and should still have time to get back into game action prior to the end of the season.

Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA
Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Notches 11th victory
Hendricks (11-9) picked up the win against the Pirates on Saturday, giving up one run on seven hits over six innings, striking out two and walking none as the Cubs won 14-1.
Hendricks was able to cruise to his 11th victory with heavy run support. It was the 29-year-old's third consecutive strong outing, a stretch of starts during which he's logged 17.2 innings while allowing just three earned runs. Overall, Hendricks is sporting a 3.26 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 139:31 K:BB across 165.2 innings. His next start will be Thursday at home against the Cardinals.
-
Rich Hill SP | KC
Dodgers' Rich Hill: Plays catch Saturday
Hill (knee) played catch on the field prior to Saturday's game, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
This is an encouraging sign after Hill left Thursday's game -- his first game back from a forearm injury -- with left knee discomfort. His preliminary diagnosis was a left MCL strain. The Dodgers will have Hill undergo an MRI on Monday to get a better read on the issue.

Joey Lucchesi RP | LAA
Padres' Joey Lucchesi: Buried by Rockies
Lucchesi (10-8) took the loss Friday, coughing up eight runs on nine hits -- including three home runs -- over 3.2 innings as the Padres fell 10-8 to the Rockies. He struck out two.
The two teams combined for five homers and 14 extra-base hits in a typically wild Coors Field affair, and Lucchesi took the brunt of the damage for the San Diego staff. The lefty will carry a 4.22 ERA and 145:52 K:BB through 153.2 innings into his next start Thursday in Milwaukee.
