Dodgers' Dustin May: Cruises to first big-league win
May (1-1) picked up the win in Tuesday's 15-1 rout of the Marlins, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.
The Dodgers' offense didn't really get rolling until the rookie had left the game, but May still hit the showers with a comfortable 6-1 lead after tossing 90 pitches (59 strikes). The right-hander will look for his second win in the majors in his next start Sunday in Atlanta.

Jose Quintana SP | COL
Cubs' Jose Quintana: Fans 14 in no-decision
Quintana allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk across six innings in a no-decision Tuesday against the Phillies. He struck out 14.
Quintana posted one of his most dominant outings of the season, but unfortunately for the lefty, the Cubs only mustered two runs in a 4-2 loss and he could not earn his 11th win. The 14 strikeouts are a new season high and it's just the second time all year Quintana has even reached double figures in the category. He's put together three straight nice starts, allowing just four earned runs and striking out 26 across 19 innings in the stretch. Quintana will look to keep rolling his next time out Sunday against the Pirates on the road.

Alex Wood RP | ATH
Reds' Alex Wood: Takes loss Tuesday
Wood (1-1) allowed three earned runs on six hits and no walks while striking out four across five innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Nationals.
Wood's start was sunk by the long ball, as he surrendered two solo home runs across five frames. He's now allowed at least one homer in each of his four starts this season, amounting to a 2.8 HR/9 mark. On the other hand, he's managed an impressive 15:3 K:BB ratio in his 19.1 innings, suggesting that he's deserving of better than a 5.59 ERA and 1.45 WHIP. He'll attempt to get on track in his next start, currently scheduled for Sunday against St. Louis.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Rejoining rotation Thursday
Wacha will start Thursday's series opener at Cincinnati, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Manager Mike Schildt indicated over the weekend that Wacha was likely to start versus the Reds, so his return to the starting rotation isn't much of a surprise. The 28-year-old has a 5.54 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 72:42 K:BB over 89.1 innings this season.

Corbin Burnes SP | ARI
Brewers' Corbin Burnes: Moved down a level
Burnes was transferred from Triple-A San Antonio to Double-A Biloxi on Tuesday.
Burnes was tagged for 15 earned runs in just 4.2 innings over his last two start with San Antonio, so the Brewers decided to move him down a level in hopes of getting him back on track. Burnes is on the 40-man roster, so he still has a chance to rejoin the Brewers before the season ends with rosters expanding Sept. 1. However, he likely needs to show some major signs of improvement before the Brewers consider using him in a big-league game again.

Zach Davies SP | WAS
Brewers' Zach Davies: Nearing return to rotation
Davies (back) is on track to rejoin the Brewers' rotation during their upcoming road trip, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Davies is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, and as long as all goes well, he will be cleared to resume pitching for the Brewers. It's not yet clear when Davies will come off the injured list, but based on the Brewers' current probables, Davies figures to be back on the mound at some point between August 18-21.

Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rockies' Jon Gray: Start pushed due to sore ankle
Gray will not make his scheduled start Tuesday against the Diamondbacks due to left ankle soreness, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Jeff Hoffman will take the ball in his stead. It is being reported as Gray's start getting "pushed back," so it sounds like he could still make a start in the coming days.

Tyler Mahle SP | ATL
Reds' Tyler Mahle: Heading to Triple-A for rehab
Mahle (hamstring) will be sent to Triple-A Louisville to begin a rehab stint Friday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Mahle is on track to toss two innings Friday, assuming Tuesday's bullpen session goes as planned. He's been on the shelf for just over three weeks, and with Cincinnati intent on bring Mahle back as a reliever, he won't need much time to build up and get his arm back in shape.

Clayton Kershaw SP | LAD
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Now starting Wednesday
The Dodgers have pushed Kershaw back in their pitching schedule, with the southpaw now scheduled to make his next start Wednesday against the Marlins rather than in Tuesday's series opener in Miami, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
An explanation for the decision hasn't been provided, but the Dodgers may have just wanted to build in an extra day of rest for Kershaw after he cleared the 100-pitch plateau for only the fifth time this season in his most recent outing Aug. 6 versus the Cardinals. While he'll still draw the same opponent, the move back a day in the pitching schedule will deny Kershaw a two-start week. Instead, rookie Dustin May will take the hill Tuesday and lines up for a second turn Sunday in Atlanta.

Dodgers' Dustin May: Moved up in pitching schedule
May is scheduled to make his next start Tuesday against the Marlins, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
The Dodgers initially listed Clayton Kershaw as the starter for the series opener in Miami, but manager Dave Roberts may have wanted to build in an extra day of rest for the ace, who cleared 100 pitches for just the fifth time this season in his previous outing. As a result, May and Kershaw will flop spots in the pitching order, with the rookie moving up a day in the schedule to match up with the Marlins' Jordan Yamamoto in the first contest of the three-game series.
