  • Rockies' German Marquez: No-decision against Cubs

Marquez didn't factor into the decision against the Cubs on Monday, giving up four earned runs on five hits over six innings, striking out seven and walking two as the Rockies eventually prevailed 6-5.

Marquez endured a disastrous third inning in which he conceded three homers, but he buckled down after that and managed to salvage a respectable final stat line. The Cubs hit him hard in his last start as well, as Marquez gave up 12 earned runs over 11.1 innings in his back-to-back outings against them, bumping his ERA up to 4.19 on the season through 96.2 innings. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, which will pit him against the Padres at Coors Field on Saturday.

  • Jerad Eickhoff SP | PIT

Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Demolished by D-backs

Eickhoff (3-4) took the loss Monday, surrendering seven runs on five hits -- all five of them home runs -- and two walks over three-plus innings while striking out two as the Phillies were downed 13-8 by the Diamondbacks.

Arizona's first three batters of the night all took Eickhoff yard. then Eduardo Escobar and Alex Avila chased him from the game in the fourth inning with two-run shots. The D-backs ended up setting a club record with eight total homers, while the two teams combined for an MLB-record 13 long balls. Eickhoff will take a 5.02 ERA, 50:17 K:BB and ghastly 2.5 HR/9 through 57.1 innings into his next start Sunday in Atlanta.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

Braves' Kevin Gausman: Gives up four runs

Gausman gave up four runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk while striking out four through 2.1 innings in a no-decision against the Pirates on Monday.

A horrific third inning that featured his own throwing error and a three-run home run led to the early exit for Gausman. The 28-year-old has struggled mightily through 13 starts with a 2-5 record and a 6.21 ERA. Gausman is lined up to make another start Saturday against the Phillies, but he may need to perform well in that outing to stick in the rotation thereafter. The newly acquired Dallas Keuchel could be ready to join the big club as soon as next week.

  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Will start Thursday

Musgrove will start Thursday's game against the Braves after being ejected from Monday's contest in the first inning. He gave up no runs on a hit and struck out one over 0.2 innings.

Tempers flared in Monday's matchup after Musgrove nicked Josh Donaldson's jersey with a pitch, and both players were ejected after the benches cleared. Musgrove fired just 18 pitches prior to getting tossed, so he'll be ready to toe the rubber again Thursday.

  • Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Fires six shutout innings

Wacha (4-2) coughed up five hits and two walks across six scoreless frames Monday, striking out four and earning the win over Miami.

It was Wacha's first start since May 22 after he was demoted to bullpen duties and he absolutely impressed in his return. Including his last relief appearance, he's gone 8.1 innings without yielding a run, lowering his season ERA from 6.61 to 5.63 in the process. Monday's outing should have been enough to keep him in the rotation at least while Adam Wainwright (hamstring) is on the injured list. Wacha will likely see the Mets in New York on Saturday.

  • Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Walks four in loss

Alcantara (3-6) yielded four runs (one earned) on four hits and four walks in five innings Monday, striking out six and taking the loss to St. Louis.

While Alcantara dropped his season ERA from 3.80 to 3.67, this start was nothing to get excited over. The Cardinals were up 1-0 entering the sixth inning before he allowed a single and issued a walk to start things off. A Jorge Alfaro throwing error let those two runners score, ending Alcantara's evening. The 23-year-old now owns an uninspiring 52:36 K:BB in 76 innings this season. He'll face the visiting Pirates on Sunday.

  • Cardinals' Adam Wainwright: Dealing with mild strain

Wainwright has been diagnosed with a mild left hamstring strain and will be re-evaluated in one week, Jim Hayes of FOX Sports Midwest reports.

Wainwright was placed on the 10-day injured list after exiting Sunday's outing with a hamstring issue. While it's positive news that the hamstring strain is mild, the Cardinals likely won't know how much time the right-hander will miss until they re-evaluate Wainwright in a week.

  • Tyler Anderson SP | LAA

Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Slated for surgery Tuesday

Anderson will undergo surgery on his left knee Tuesday, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.

Anderson is finally scheduled for surgery after landing on the injured list May 22. The Rockies have yet to unveil a timetable for his return, though there appears to be a chance that he could return this season, depending on what the doctors find during the procedure.

  • Zack Wheeler SP | PHI

Mets' Zack Wheeler: Starting Game 1 of twin bill

Wheeler will start Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Yankees, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Wheeler will get the ball for Game 1 of Tuesday's twin bill while Jason Vargas -- who was originally scheduled to start Monday before the contest was postponed -- starts Game 2. The 29-year-old Wheeler has gone at least seven innings in four straight starts, posting a 4.13 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 29:4 K:BB over that stretch (28.1 innings).

  • Jordan Lyles RP | KC

Pirates' Jordan Lyles: Placed on injured list

Lyles was placed on the injured list Monday with left hamstring tightness.

This move comes after Lyles lasted just three innings in his most recent start Saturday against the Brewers, during which he allowed three runs on five hits and four walks while striking out five. The severity of the issue is not yet known, so it remains to be seen how long Lyles will remain sidelined for. Montana DuRapau was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding roster move. The Pirates have yet to announce who will replace Lyles in the rotation.
