Patrick Corbin SP | TOR
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Tagged for eight runs
Corbin (5-3) yielded eight runs (six earned) on 11 hits while striking out two over 2.2 innings Friday night in a loss to the Reds.
Corbin was roughed up from the start, surrendering five runs on seven hits in his first inning of work. Things didn't get much better for the southpaw in the third inning, as he would allow three more runs prior to being lifted after 65 pitches. The 29-year-old was coming off his best outing of the 2019 campaign, tossing a complete game shutout against the Marlins on Saturday, but he evidently couldn't carry his previous success into Friday's start. Despite a disastrous night, Corbin owns a 3.46 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with an 83:22 K:BB over 75.1 frames this season.

Tyler Mahle SP | ATL
Reds' Tyler Mahle: Fans eight in second victory
Mahle (2-5) earned the win after allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight over five innings against the Nationals on Friday.
Mahle's offense supplied him with five runs in the bottom of the first inning, and it was all he needed to come away with the win. He surrendered one run in the second, one in the fourth and another in the fifth prior to departing with a 9-3 lead. The 24-year-old right-hander desperately needed a solid outing following a start in which he yielded six runs over five innings, and he got one. Mahle owns a 4.26 ERA with 67 punchouts across 61.1 innings this season.

Vince Velasquez RP | KC
Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Passed up for spot start
Velasquez will not make a spot start Saturday in the absence of Zach Eflin (back), with Cole Irvin getting the call instead.
The Phillies seem committed to Velasquez's bullpen transition, at least for now. He's at best the team's seventh starter at this point, recently falling behind both Nick Pivetta and Irvin. Velasquez has little fantasy value as a low-leverage reliever and doesn't appear to be close to a role change.

Seth Lugo SP | KC
Mets' Seth Lugo: Back from injured list
Lugo (shoulder) was activated from the 10-day injured list Friday.
After receiving additional treatment and undergoing one final evaluation, the Mets have given Lugo the green light to come off the injured list. He missed just one day over the minimum while dealing with tendinitis in his right shoulder.

Cole Irvin RP | LAD
Phillies' Cole Irvin: Gets another shot to start
Irvin was recalled by the Phillies on Friday and will start Saturday against the Dodgers.
Irvin had two good starts and one poor one during his previous stay on the big-league roster, posting a 5.60 ERA. He'll get at least one more shot with Zach Eflin heading to the injured list with mid-back tightness. It's not yet clear if Eflin is expected to return after the minimum 10 days or if Irvin will have a chance to stick around. The young lefty's promotion is significant in that it indicates he's now ahead of Vince Velasquez in the pecking order, as Velasquez was passed over for a spot start despite not pitching since Sunday.

Zach Eflin SP | BAL
Phillies' Zach Eflin: Lands on injured list
Eflin was placed on the 10-day injured list with mid-back tightness Friday.
The injury doesn't sound like an overly serious one, and the transaction was made retroactive to Tuesday, so there's a chance Eflin returns next Friday against the Reds after missing just one start. The back injury could perhaps explain Eflin's poor showing his last time out, when he lasted just 3.2 innings Sunday against the Brewers, his shortest outing of the year. Cole Irvin was recalled to take his place in the rotation and will start Saturday against the Dodgers.

Kyle Freeland SP | COL
Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Sent to Triple-A
Freeland was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.
After recording a 2.85 ERA and finishing fourth in the National League Cy Young race last season, Freeland stumbled out of the gate this year, posting a 7.13 ERA through 12 starts. He's seen small steps back in his strikeout, walk and groundball rates, but he's also seen a large overcorrection in numbers which are attributed in large part to luck. He's seen his strand rate plummet from 82.8 percent to 62.0 percent while his HR/FB rate has soared from 8.5 percent to 21.6 percent. He'll have a chance to return to the Rockies' rotation if he sorts himself out in the minors, but it will be difficult for fantasy owners to put much faith in a pitch-to-contact arm in Coors Field given his recent results.

Jordan Lyles RP | KC
Pirates' Jordan Lyles: Cleared to start Sunday
Lyles (hamstring) will start Sunday against the Brewers, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
Lyles' availability was in question after he was pulled early in his previous start Tuesday against the Reds due to left hamstring tightness. The issue was evidently minor, and he's been cleared to start.

Alex Wood RP | ATH
Reds' Alex Wood: Moves to 60-day IL
Wood (back) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.
Wood has already spent over 60 days on the IL with back issues, so the move won't directly impact his return timeline. The 28-year-old started a throwing program last week and still appears to be weeks away from returning given his extensive absence.

Carlos Martinez SP | SF
Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Mixed bag in bullpen role
Martinez, who allowed two earned runs on a hit and two walks while also recording a strikeout over an inning in a win over the Phillies on Thursday , has a 5.40 ERA, a 1.60 WHIP and one hold over his first six relief appearances of the season.
Martinez is working as a full-time reliever since his mid-May activation from a shoulder injury, and although the aforementioned numbers are ugly, they are a tad misleading. The 27-year-old right-hander has actually generated scoreless efforts in four of his six trips to the mound, and he hasn't allowed a hit in three of them. Manager Mike Shildt has yet to deploy Martinez in a multi-inning capacity, which is one of the advantages of utilizing the former starter in a bullpen role. However, he has afforded Martinez steady work, as his six outings have come over a 13-day period.
