  • Jose Urena SP | LAA

Marlins' Jose Urena: Finds win column again

Urena (3-6) allowed two runs on four hits and a walk across seven innings Monday, striking out four and earning the win over Washington.

Urena has won his last two outings, yielding four earned runs in 13 innings in those contests. He kept the Nationals off the board until the fifth inning where he coughed up both of Washington's runs. He lowered his ERA to 4.11 but owns a lackluster 43:19 K:BB in 65.2 frames. Urena will take the mound in San Diego on Saturday.

  • Kyle Wright SP | CHC

Braves' Kyle Wright: Sent back to minors

Wright was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett after Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Wright was recalled on Friday after Matt Joyce was placed on the bereavement list, though he didn't appear in any games. He owns a 7.07 ERA and 1.79 WHIP across 14 big-league innings and hasn't fared much better at Triple-A as he's recorded a 7.57 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 27.1 frames.

  • Braves' Touki Toussaint: Effective again in long relief

Toussaint walked two and struck out two in two scoreless innings of relief during Sunday's extra-inning win over the Cardinals.

With Atlanta down 3-0, the young right-hander replaced starter Julio Teheran in the sixth inning and kept St. Louis in check, helping set the stage for a late rally. Toussaint has been sharp since joining the bullpen in mid-May, posting a 1.04 ERA, 0.58 WHIP and 9:3 K:BB through 8.2 innings over five appearances, but barring an injury in the rotation, his immediate future seems to put him in a low-leverage role.

  • Jack Flaherty SP | DET

Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Sparkles in quality start

Flaherty did not factor into the decision versus the Braves on Sunday despite pitching six scoreless innings, allowing only three hits without issuing a walk. He struck out seven.

Flaherty deserved better in this one but was deprived of a win when Jordan Hicks allowed three Braves runs in the ninth inning. The closer's implosion should not take away from Flaherty's masterful performance, as he gave up only three harmless singles and induced 13 swinging strikes. He'll carry a 3.77 ERA and 1.17 WHIP into his next start against the Cubs on Saturday.

  • Julio Teheran SP | BAL

Braves' Julio Teheran: Tosses five inefficient innings

Teheran received a no-decision in St. Louis on Sunday, throwing five innings and giving up three runs (one earned) on two hits and four walks while striking out one.

The outing was a mixed bag for Teheran -- he gave up only two hits and would have limited the Cardinals to a single run if not for a dropped line drive in left field by Austin Riley, but he labored by throwing 98 pitches in five innings and issued four free passes. He also established a season-low by striking out only one batter. Still, Teheran extended his streak of giving up one earned run or less to five consecutive starts and lowered his season ERA to a healthy 3.53 despite a dangerous 4.5 BB/9. He'll have a home matchup with Detroit on Sunday in his next scheduled start.

  • Zack Wheeler SP | PHI

Mets' Zack Wheeler: Strikes out eight in victory

Wheeler (4-3) allowed three runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and one walk across 7.1 innings while earning a victory against the Tigers on Sunday.

Over the last seven starts, Wheeler has been a strikeout machine, posting 56 punchouts in 47.1 innings. He has won three of his four decisions during that stretch too. Overall, he has a 4.63 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 78 strikeouts in 70 innings this season. Wheeler is scheduled to pitch next against the Diamondbacks on Friday.

  • Mitch Keller SP | PIT

Pirates' Mitch Keller: Starting second game of twin bill

The Pirates confirmed that Keller would be recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis to start the second game of Monday's doubleheader Monday against the Reds.

Pittsburgh will presumably designate Keller as the 26th man for the doubleheader, but the right-hander could avoid a trip back to Indianapolis with a solid performance in his MLB debut. With Trevor Williams (side) recently joining Jameson Taillon (elbow) on the injured list, the Pirates are down to only three established healthy starters. Nick Kingham (8.76 ERA, 1.99 WHIP in 24.2 innings) and Steven Brault (7.11 ERA, 1.74 WHIP in 25.1 innings) have both been major disappointments in long relief and as spot starters/primary pitchers this season, so Keller probably won't have a high bar to clear to stick around with the big club.

  • Rockies' German Marquez: Gives up four runs

Marquez gave up four runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out four through 6.1 innings in a no-decision against the Orioles on Sunday.

Marquez only allowed three hits and one run through six innings, but he gave up four hits and three runs while only registering one out in the seventh inning. He has a 5-2 record with a 3.56 ERA through 12 starts this season, but he has a 5.40 ERA at home. Marquez will make his next start Friday at Coors Field against the Blue Jays.

  • Kenta Maeda SP | NYY

Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Picks up sixth win

Maeda (6-2) yielded three runs on five hits and struck out four over five innings Sunday in a win against the Pirates.

Maeda gave up a two-run homer in the second inning and a solo shot in the fifth, but he'd come out of the ballgame with a one-run lead. He needed 81 pitches (57 strikes) to retire the first 15 batters of the contest. The 31-year-old was placed on the shelf May 17 due to a left adductor contusion, but he was able to return after missing just one start. The right-hander owns a 3.67 ERA with 56 punchouts over 56.1 innings following Sunday's outing.

  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

Cubs' Jose Quintana: Gives up six runs in loss

Quintana (4-4) gave up six runs (five earned) on 12 hits and one walk while striking out two through 5.1 innings to take the loss against the Reds on Sunday.

Quintana was knocked around, breaking an impressive streak of eight outings in which he had allowed three or fewer runs. The left-hander has a 3.73 ERA through 10 starts this season and will make his next start Saturday against the Cardinals.
