Jordan Lyles RP | KC
Pirates' Jordan Lyles: Cleared for start
Lyles (hand) is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Lyles' previous outing Friday against the Giants came to an end after six shutout innings when he bruised his pitching hand while trying to knock down a comebacker to the mound. His removal was merely for precautionary purposes, as Lyles proceeded to play catch a day later without issue. He'll now return to action on his normal four days' rest and will bring a shiny 0.53 ERA and 0.88 WHIP into the contest.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Bullpen set for Friday
Wacha (knee) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Friday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Wacha is currently on the injured list with left knee patellar tendinitis, though his stay on the shelf is expected to be brief. If everything goes as planned during Friday's mound session, Wacha could be cleared to rejoin the Cardinals' rotation Monday against the Nationals.

Trevor Williams RP | TEX
Pirates' Trevor Williams: Pitches well in loss
Williams (1-1) allowed two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and one walk across seven innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
Once again, Williams was pretty fantastic, but he didn't get the support he needed to win. Williams owns a 2.59 ERA and 0.96 WHIP and yet he possesses just a 1-1 record. He also has 21 strikeouts versus only six walks in 31.1 innings across five starts. His next scheduled outing is Sunday on the road against the Dodgers.

Patrick Corbin SP | TOR
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Solid outing in Coors
Corbin (2-0) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk over six innings while striking out six in a 6-3 victory over the Rockies.
Raimel Tapia touched Corbin up for a two-run shot in the second inning, but the Nats struck back for four runs in the third and the southpaw never looked back. The 29-year-old is now 5-for-5 in delivering quality starts to begin his tenure with Washington, and Corbin will try to make it six straight at home against the Padres on Sunday.

Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Reds' Sonny Gray: Fans nine in no-decision
Gray allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and zero walks over 5.1 innings during Tuesday's 7-6 win over the Braves. He struck out nine but did not factor in the decision.
Gray gave up one run on three hits through the first five innings, but the Braves scored three in the sixth with three hits, an error and a sacrifice fly. The 29-year-old has a 3.28 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 31:6 K:BB over 24.2 innings and will look to earn his first win of the season Sunday at St. Louis.

Zach Eflin SP | BAL
Phillies' Zach Eflin: Struggles against opposing pitcher
Eflin (2-3) allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits and one walk across four innings in a loss against the Mets on Tuesday. He struck out three.
The 25-year-old's biggest issue was recording an out against his counterpart, Zack Wheeler. The Mets' starter went 2-for-2 and drove in three of the four runs against Eflin. Still, Eflin hasn't been good since allowing just one run in his first two starts of the year. Over his last three outings, the 25-year-old owns a 7.62 ERA. In total he's 2-3 with a 4.15 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 23 strikeouts in 26 innings this season. His next outing is scheduled to be at home Saturday against the Marlins.

Zack Wheeler SP | PHI
Mets' Zack Wheeler: Strikes out 11 in seven scoreless
Wheeler (2-2) threw seven shutout innings with 11 strikeouts and no walks while allowing five hits in a victory against the Phillies on Tuesday.
This was a pretty flawless start for the 28-year-old. While throwing 74 of his 105 pitches for strikes, Wheeler induced 15 swings and misses, and only one baserunner reached scoring position. Wheeler helped himself out by going 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI at the plate as well. With the great night, the 28-year-old improved to 2-2 with a 4.85 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 33 strikeouts in 29.2 innings across five starts this season. His next outing will likely be against the Reds at home Monday.
-
Kevin Gausman SP | CHC
Braves' Kevin Gausman: Falters in sixth inning
Gausman (1-2) took the loss against the Reds on Tuesday by allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits across 5.1 innings. He struck out six and walked two.
Gausman was in line for the victory to begin the sixth inning but two hits, an error and some shoddy bullpen work ended up handing him the loss. The 28-year-old has a 3.96 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 28:8 K:BB over 25 innings heading into Sunday's start against the Rockies.
-
Kenta Maeda SP | NYY
Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Hit hard by Cubs
Maeda (3-2) allowed six earned runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five across four innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Cubs.
Maeda was hit hard early, allowing four earned runs in his first inning of work and all six of his earned runs in the first two frames. It's been an up-and-down campaign for him already, as this was his second start having allowed five or more earned runs. However, across his other three starts he's allowed just five earned runs in 18.1 innings.
-
Zach Davies SP | WAS
Brewers' Zach Davies: Works inefficiently
Davies allowed two earned runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out four across 4.2 innings Tuesday against the Cardinals. He did not factor into the decision.
Davies wasn't hit particularly hard -- he allowed only one extra-base hit -- but the Cardinals drove up his pitch count by fouling off 19 pitches. Still the outing was far from a disaster and Davies has proven capable at run prevention early on, allowing five earned runs across 27.1 innings of work. He'll look to work deeper into the game in his next outing Sunday at the Mets.
