Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Settles for no-decision

Musgrove allowed three runs on five hits, struck out five and walked two across six innings in a no-decision during a 12-4 loss against the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Believe it or not, Musgrove was in line for the win even after his two stranded runners scored following his departure, but the Pirates bullpen blew yet another lead -- this one in dramatic fashion, giving up nine runs in the sixth and seventh. Musgrove has put together an excellent start to the season, but he is just 1-1 through four starts. He also has a 1.59 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, .180 batting average against and 26 strikeouts in 28.1 innings. His next start will be against the Dodgers on the road Saturday.

  • Tyler Anderson SP | LAA

Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Struggles again in return

Anderson gave up five runs on four hits with three walks while striking out four through three innings in a no-decision against the Nationals on Monday.

In his return from the injured list, Anderson delivered another miserable outing. The left-hander has given up at least five runs in each of his appearances this season. The 29-year-old has a 0-2 record with a 12.00 ERA through three starts. Anderson will get his next start Sunday against the Braves.

  • Steven Matz RP | TB

Mets' Steven Matz: Nabs second win

Matz (2-1) yielded one run on three hits and two walks while earning the win over Philadelphia on Monday. He fanned six batters.

It was a promising start after his disastrous outing last time he faced the Phillies, allowing eight runs without recording an out. Matz allowed a solo shot to Rhys Hoskins in the fourth inning for the lone run his opponent would score. The southpaw lowered his ERA to 4.03 in 22.1 frames this season. Matz take on the Brewers on Sunday.

  • Jack Flaherty SP | DET

Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Yields three homers in win

Flaherty (2-1) allowed four runs on three hits and a walk, earning the victory over Milwaukee on Monday. He struck out 10 batters and gave up three home runs.

It wasn't too bad of an outing for Flaherty, who cruised through four perfect innings before allowing a trio long balls over the next two frames. It was also his first double-digit strikeout game of 2019, giving him stellar 32:5 K:BB in 24 innings. The young right-hander will carry a 5.25 ERA into Sunday's tilt with the Reds.

  • Brewers' Adrian Houser: Rocked in 2019 debut

Houser (0-1) yielded five runs on nine hits and a walk in four innings, taking the loss to St. Louis on Monday. He struck out three batters.

The Cardinals were all over Houser all evening, including a pair of two-run homers from Paul Goldschmidt and Dexter Fowler. The 26-year-old righty was making a spot start for Freddy Peralta (shoulder) but clearly didn't seize the opportunity. With Peralta expected back in the near future, Houser will likely head back to Triple-A San Antonio.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Tosses light side session

Peralta (shoulder) threw a light bullpen Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The Brewers have yet to decide when Peralta will vacate the injured list, although Monday's throwing session was another small step in the right direction. He could return from the IL on Friday at the earliest.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Mets' Jacob deGrom: MRI comes back clean

DeGrom underwent an MRI on his sore elbow Monday that came back clean, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

DeGrom had been expected to forgo an MRI but ended up getting one anyway. The test confirmed that he's in good shape, and reports earlier in the day suggested that he could return from the injured list when first eligible Friday for the Mets' series opener against the Brewers. The Mets have yet to officially confirm their plans, but deGrom will presumably get the green light to return if he experiences no issues coming out of his 30-pitch bullpen session Monday.

  • Kyle Freeland SP | COL

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Anticipates brief absence

Freeland expects his blister to force him to miss only one start, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.

Freeland's move to the injured list Monday was reportedly precautionary. It's good news that he doesn't think he's in line to miss too much time, though his exact return date won't become clear until he and the Rockies see how the blister heals.

  • Tyler Anderson SP | LAA

Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Will start Monday

Anderson (knee) was activated from the 10-day injured list and will start Monday against the Nationals, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

It was an expected move for the left-hander, after manager Bud Black hinted Sunday that Anderson may be in line for Monday's start. He will make his return for this bout with the Nationals, and hopefully a clean bill of health will get him on track as he had given up 11 earned runs in just nine innings before his trip to the injured list with knee inflammation. The Rockies placed Kyle Freeland (blister) on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Kyle Freeland SP | COL

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Out with blister

Freeland was placed on the 10-day injured list with a blister on his left middle finger Monday.

It's a bit of a surprise, as Freeland certainly appeared healthy in his most recent outing, striking out seven in six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits Thursday against the Phillies. The move was made retroactive to Friday, so there's a chance he could miss just one start and return April 29 in Milwaukee, though the recovery date for blisters isn't always easy to predict. Tyler Anderson (knee) was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move.
