Kyle Freeland SP | COL
Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Cleared to start Tuesday
Freeland (calf) is listed as the Rockies' probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.
The Rockies probably wouldn't include Freeland in their pitching schedule if there was truly any concern about his calf, which cramped up on him during his most recent outing Sept. 13 against the Diamondbacks. Despite the issue, Freeland still covered 6.1 frames and rolled to his fourth win in as many starts. It appears Freeland only needed some minor treatment to address the matter, so he shouldn't face any restrictions when he opposes Clayton Kershaw in the middle game of the series. Freeland has established himself as the Rockies' staff ace with a stellar second half, during which he's rung up a 7-1 record, 2.69 ERA and 1.24 WHIP while going at least six innings in nine of his 11 starts.

Touki Toussaint RP | LAA
Braves' Touki Toussaint: Listed as Wednesday's starter
The Braves list Toussaint as their probable starter for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.
After making his first three appearances with the Braves as a starter, Toussaint was moved to the bullpen last week. He made his first relief appearance Saturday against the Nationals, covering one inning and giving up three runs on two hits and four walks while striking out none. Despite the poor outing, the Braves appear set to give Toussaint another trial in the rotation on only three days' rest, which will likely result in his pitch count being limited Wednesday. With nearly as many walks (13) as strikeouts (15) so far during his time in the big leagues and a short outing likely on tap, Toussaint doesn't make for the most appealing lineup option in weekly formats.

Ross Stripling SP | KC
Dodgers' Ross Stripling: Throws 3.1 innings in loss
Stripling (8-4) took the loss against the Cardinals on Sunday, giving up three earned runs on four hits over 3.1 innings, striking out five with no walks in the Dodgers' 5-0 defeat.
It was another abbreviated stint on the mound for the right-hander, who also went 3.1 frames in his last start on Wednesday. This one didn't go as well, as he coughed up three earned runs before exiting the contest after tossing 72 pitches. He's having a great season for the Dodgers with a 2.77 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 117 innings, so look for his workload to increase as he's eased back into the rotation coming off his back injury.

Adam Wainwright SP | STL
Cardinals' Adam Wainwright: Puts in throwback performance
Wainwright (2-3) got the win against the Dodgers on Sunday, allowing just two hits over six shutout innings, striking out nine and walking three in the Cardinals' 5-0 victory.
It was a vintage showing from the veteran, who bounced back nicely after yielding four earned over five innings in first start back from the disabled list Monday. He's only thrown 29 innings this season, posting a 3.72 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP over that time. He's scheduled to take the mound next against the Giants on the road on Saturday.

Jacob Nix SP | SD
Padres' Jacob Nix: Bounces back with quality start
Nix didn't factor into the decision against the Rangers on Sunday, giving up three earned runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out three and walking one in the Padres' 7-3 victory.
Nix got rocked for 11 earned runs over 10 innings in his last two starts prior to this contest, but he was able to right the ship with a quality start in this one. He's 2-3 with a 5.75 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP through 36 innings this season.

Antonio Senzatela RP | MIL
Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Moves to 5-6
Senzatela (5-6) picked up the win against the Giants on Sunday, giving up one earned run on five hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings in Colorado's 3-2 victory.
Senzatela had taken losses in three of his last four starts coming into this contest, but he was able to get back in the win column with this solid effort against San Francisco. He's thrown 78.2 innings for Colorado this season, posting an unremarkable 4.81 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP to go along with 61 strikeouts over that time.

Luis Castillo SP | CHW
Reds' Luis Castillo: Bags 10th win
Castillo (10-12) picked up the win against the Cubs on Sunday, giving up one earned run on four hits over 6.2 innings, striking out two and walking four in the Reds' 2-1 victory.
It was the third win in his last four starts for the right-hander, who has been faring much better during the second half of the season after a rough start to his 2018 campaign. He wasn't at his best Sunday, with four free passes against just two strikeouts, but he still managed to work deep into the game, needing 98 pitches to make it through his 6.2 innings. His 4.52 ERA through 161.1 innings still isn't especially inspiring, but the young right-hander is at least showing flashes of the ability he demonstrated as a rookie last season, when he posted an excellent 3.12 ERA and 1.07 WHIP over 89.1 innings.

Jose Quintana SP | COL
Cubs' Jose Quintana: Falls to 13-10
Quintana (13-10) took the loss against the Reds on Sunday, giving up two earned runs on five hits, striking out seven and walking three over five innings in the Cubs' 2-1 defeat.
It was a solid outing from the left-hander, but he was still dealt his 10th defeat of the season in a low-scoring contest against Cincinnati. He's been on a nice run of late, as this was his sixth straight outing when he's given up two or fewer earned runs. He now has a 3.95 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP and 142 strikeouts over 159.1 innings this season.

Tyler Mahle SP | ATL
Reds' Tyler Mahle: Battling shoulder tenderness
Mahle experienced shoulder tenderness following his Sept. 9 start against the Padres and faces an uncertain return timeline, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Reliever Michael Lorenzen will fill Mahle's spot in the rotation for at least Tuesday's game in Milwaukee and could garner additional starts if he impresses in the transition from the bullpen. Interim manager Jim Riggleman said Mahle, meanwhile, is working with team trainers with the hope of being able to pitch again in 2018. The start against San Diego has been Mahle's only appearance since rejoining the big club when rosters expanded earlier this month. Mahle has covered 112 innings in total for the Reds this season, logging a 4.98 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 8.8 K/9.

Jacob deGrom SP | TEX
Mets' Jacob deGrom: Fans 12, surrenders three vs. Boston
DeGrom allowed three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out 12 over seven innings Sunday against the Red Sox. He didn't factor into the decision.
DeGrom gave up all three of his runs in the third inning, but he managed to record four straight scoreless frames to end his outing. He left with the game tied 3-3, but Boston would strike for a run in the bottom of the eighth and hang on for the victory. The 30-year-old has continued to pitch well in the final month of the season, giving up six runs and striking out 27 over 20 frames in September (three starts).
