Kevin Gausman SP | CHC
Braves' Kevin Gausman: Tosses five scoreless frames vs. Marlins
Gausman (9-9) threw five shutout innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out five as he notched the victory Sunday against Miami.
Gausman cruised through five innings of work, allowing just two batters to reach base. He's looked sharp on the hill since being traded from the Marlins prior to the deadline, owning a 4-1 record and surrendering six runs across 32 innings while fanning 22 (five starts). He'll carry a 3.87 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 126 punchouts through 156 innings into his next start Saturday against the Pirates.

Pablo Lopez SP | MIN
Marlins' Pablo Lopez: Saddled with tough-luck loss vs. Braves
Lopez (2-4) allowed one run on six hits and five walks while striking out four over 5.2 innings as he took the loss Sunday against Atlanta.
Lopez gave up just one run in the sixth inning, but the Marlins failed to score in the series finale, resulting in Lopez's fourth loss of the season. He issued a season-high five free passes, throwing 62 of 101 pitches for strikes. Despite back-to-back solid outings out of the 22-year-old right-hander (two runs across 11.2 frames), Lopez hasn't secured a victory since July 21 against the Rays. He'll look for more run support in his next start, which lines up for Sunday against Toronto.

Vince Velasquez RP | KC
Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Fans six, notches ninth victory
Velasquez (9-9) allowed two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out six over five innings as he secured the win Sunday against Toronto.
Velasquez gave up a two-run homer in the third inning to Kendrys Morales, but he'd exit the game with a 5-2 lead after tossing 54 of 84 pitches for strikes. The 26-year-old right-hander continues to put up decent numbers on the hill, as he sports a 4.05 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with a 142:53 K:BB through 129 frames this season. He'll face off against the Cubs in his next outing Saturday.

Austin Gomber SP | TEX
Cardinals' Austin Gomber: Moves to 4-0
Gomber (4-0) pitched six innings and earned the win Sunday, yielding two runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk in the 12-3 win over Colorado. He struck out six batters.
Gomber was handed a 6-0 lead before he threw his first pitch and he did a solid job of protecting it. The rookie left-hander now owns a terrific 2.79 ERA across 48.1 innings on the year. Gomber has also earned a win in three of his last four starts and he continues to prove why he should stay in the rotation down the stretch. He'll next take the mound at home against the Reds on Saturday.

Tyler Anderson SP | LAA
Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Chased during first inning
Anderson (6-7) recorded just two outs Sunday, allowing six runs on seven hits and a walk in the 12-3 loss to the Cardinals. He struck out one batter and allowed a homer in the losing effort.
After Matt Carpenter slapped a leadoff double, Anderson retired the next two batters before allowing a two-out rally for the ages. His day would end after Carpenter drove in a run with his second double in the inning. The 28-year-old southpaw saw his ERA jump from 4.45 to 4.79 while taking his fourth loss in five August starts. Anderson will aim for his first win since July 4 on Friday against the Padres.

Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA
Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Earns 10th win with scoreless outing
Hendricks (10-10) fired seven shutout innings and earned a victory Sunday, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out five in the 9-0 win over the Reds.
Hendricks was absolutely dealing Sunday afternoon, allowing just three baserunners and holding Cincinnati off the scoreboard. The 28-year-old is now sporting a 3.84 ERA and a 131:38 K:BB across 158.2 innings of work. He'll look to get back above .500 in Philadelphia on Friday.

Jerad Eickhoff SP | PIT
Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Produces strong rehab start Saturday
Eickhoff (lat) threw six scoreless innings in a rehab start for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic Philadelphia reports.
Eickhoff had a relatively uneventful outing, requiring 83 pitches to get through the six frames. This is a big step forward after reports surfaced saying he was still experiencing tingling in his fingers when he pitched. The stats certainly haven't suggested anything is still wrong, as the right-hander holds a 1.83 ERA while striking out almost a batter per inning in five rehab starts. He still remains without a firm return timetable, though it seems like he is close to returning to the big-league club given how high his pitch count has gotten in recent rehab starts. His role upon his return is still murky however, as Zach Eflin, Nick Pivetta and Vince Velasquez seem to have the back-end rotation spots held down.

Adam Wainwright SP | STL
Cardinals' Adam Wainwright: Rehab start bumped back a day
Wainwright's (elbow) scheduled rehab start for Triple-A Memphis has been pushed back a day until Monday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
The change has nothing to do with a setback on Wainwright's part, but rather, it's an attempt to keep Daniel Poncedeleon on track to return to the major-league club for a Sept. 1 start. Wainwright is still slated to stretch out to four innings as he also prepares for a return to the Cardinals shortly after rosters expand Saturday. St. Louis has yet to clarify how Waiwright will be used once activated, but with back-end starters John Gant and Austin Gomber performing capably and Michael Wacha (oblique) also on track to return from the disabled list in early September, the longtime staff ace could be ticketed for a bullpen role.

Brett Kennedy RP | CIN
Padres' Brett Kennedy: Done in by long ball
Kennedy gave up three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings and settling for a no-decision in Saturday's loss to the Dodgers.
Kennedy got off to a rough start, serving up a three-run homer to Manny Machado in the first inning. The rookie settled down and tossed four scoreless frames to salvage his outing. The long ball continues to plague the 24-year-old, as Saturday's homer was the sixth he has surrendered in just four starts this month. Kennedy is lined up to make one more start before rosters expand, but he shouldn't draw much fantasy interest in a home matchup against the Rockies next Friday.

Clayton Kershaw SP | LAD
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Goes eight strong
Kershaw gave up three runs (two earned) on seven hits while striking out nine over eight innings Saturday, but did not factor into the decision in an extra-innings win over San Diego.
Kershaw attacked San Diego's lineup early and often, firing 77 of his 107 pitches for strikes. The southpaw was in line to pick up his seventh win of the season, but closer Kenley Jansen faltered in the ninth, forcing the Dodgers' ace to settle for a no-decision. Kershaw has been dominant all season (2.39 ERA over 20 starts), but he has been in rare form recently, going seven-plus innings in three of his last six outings. The 30-year-old will need to bring his A-game in a pivotal matchup against the Diamondbacks next Friday.
