Luke Farrell RP | WAS
Cubs' Luke Farrell: Confirmed to start Monday
Farrell will take the mound for Monday's series opener against the Diamondbacks, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
Farrell was selected to toe the rubber as the Cubs are in need of a sixth starter following Saturday's doubleheader. He was initially recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Saturday as the 26th man, but he'll hang around with the big-league club at least until Monday's tilt. In 19 appearances for Chicago this season, Farrell has pieced together a 3.86 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with 37 strikeouts across 28 innings.

Austin Gomber SP | TEX
Cardinals' Austin Gomber: Making first MLB start Tuesday
Gomber will be recalled from Triple-A Memphis and start Tuesday's game against the Reds, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
The Cardinals will break in a pair of rookies in Cincinnati for their first MLB starts, as Gomber will follow 26-year-old Daniel Poncedeleon in the pitching schedule. Carlos Martinez (oblique) is expected to return from the 10-day disabled list over the weekend to bolster the rotation, but one more spot on the Cardinals' five-man staff would still be open for Gomber or Poncedeleon, with the performances of both pitchers earlier in the week likely dictating who sticks around with the big club. Gomber, who has previously made 15 relief appearances for the Cardinals and has collected seven holds, has worked nearly exclusively as a starter at Memphis this season, compiling a 3.42 ERA and 76:20 K:BB In 68.1 innings.

Noah Syndergaard SP | CLE
Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Heads to DL
Syndergaard was placed on the 10-day disabled list Sunday with hand, foot and mouth disease, Jon Heyman of FancredSports.com reports.
The Mets will keep Syndergaard away from the team while he returns to health. He figures to be reinstated after the minimum and will likely miss just one start, as he's being penciled in to take the hill July 31 against Washington.

Freddy Peralta SP | TB
Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Will start Wednesday
Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Peralta would be called up from Low-A Wisconsin and start Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Peralta initially seemed to be in line to start Tuesday, but he ended up getting pushed back a day with the Brewers bringing Junior Guerra (forearm) off the 10-day disabled list to take the hill for the second game of the series. The additions of Guerra and Peralta to the rotation would have given the Brewers six starters, but there's a good chance the team will proceed with a five-man staff after Brent Suter exited Sunday's outing against the Dodgers with forearm tightness. As a result, Peralta would seem to be in line to stick around with the big club beyond Wednesday's start, assuming he's able to acquit himself well in that turn. Though issuing free passes remains a concern for Peralta, he has been impressive on the whole through his first seven big-league outings, accruing a 2.65 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 50 strikeouts over 37.1 innings.

Walker Buehler SP | SD
Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Expected to start Wednesday for big club
The Dodgers are expected to recall Buehler from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Buehler, who was optioned to Triple-A after his last start prior to the All-Star break, tossed a five-inning simulated game Friday while waiting for the Dodgers to decide his next step. It appears the Dodgers intend to break Buehler into a six-man rotation, at least for the upcoming week. The Dodgers could look to restrict Buehler's pitch counts during his starts with the big club an effort to keep him fresh through a potential playoff run, but he should perform well enough on a per-inning basis to warrant a roster spot in nearly every fantasy format. Before being demoted to Triple-A, Buehler accrued a 3.45, 1.08 WHIP and 59 strikeouts over 57.1 innings across 11 outings (10 starts).

German Marquez SP | SD
Rockies' German Marquez: Goes on paternity leave list
The Rockies placed Marquez on the paternity leave list Sunday, MLB.com reports.
Marquez will be away from the team for up to three days while he awaits the birth of his child. The Rockies have off Monday before starting a two-game set in Houston on Tuesday, but since Marquez wasn't scheduled to pitch in either contest, his absence won't force the team to alter its rotation plans. Marquez is expected to make his next start in Friday's series opener against the Athletics.

Antonio Senzatela RP | MIL
Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Returns from DL, will start Sunday
Senzatela (finger) was activated from the 10-day disabled list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Diamondbacks, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
The Rockies cleared room for Senzatela on the active roster by placing German Marquez on the paternity list. Senzatela was sidelined for two weeks with a blister on his right middle finger, but he proved his health by completing a 35-pitch bullpen session Friday.

Luke Farrell RP | WAS
Cubs' Luke Farrell: Could start Monday vs. Arizona
Farrell could be a candidate to make a spot start Monday against the Diamondbacks, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
Farrell was added to the Cubs' roster as the 26th man ahead of Saturday's doubleheader and will stick around with the big club after the team optioned reliever Dillon Maples to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday. Since Farrell went unused in relief for the twin bill, the Cubs could be saving him for Monday, when a temporary sixth starter will be needed after Chicago opened the first half with six games in five days. Farrell hasn't covered more than three innings in an appearance at the major- or minor-league level since June 2, so he would likely be held to a restricted pitch count if he receives the nod Monday.
-
Sammy Solis SP | SD
Nationals' Sammy Solis: Promoted to big club
The Nationals recalled Solis from Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.
He'll assume the active roster spot of outfielder Brian Goodwin, who was dealt to the Royals on Sunday. Solis is expected to work in middle relief or as a mop-up man for the Nationals after posting a 4.50 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 28 innings in his 40 appearances with the big club earlier this season.

Michael Lorenzen RP | TOR
Reds' Michael Lorenzen: Allows two runs in Saturday's loss
Lorenzen gave up two runs Saturday in an inning of work on three hits, extending the Reds' deficit against the Pirates.
Unfortunately for Lorenzen, more attention has been paid to his prowess at the plate than on the mound. His 2.70 ERA is reasonable but deceptive, as he's allowed 14 walks in 33.1 innings. The best part about Lorenzen's line is that he has not given up a homer yet this season.
