  • Jordan Lyles RP | KC

Padres' Jordan Lyles: Could face hitters over weekend

Lyles (forearm) could face hitters in live batting practice as soon as Saturday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Lyles completed a bullpen session Wednesday, his second since being placed on the disabled list a little over two weeks ago. Prior to being shut down with right forearm inflammation, Lyles had posted a 4.79 ERA and 40:11 K:BB in 47 innings over his eight starts. Once he's cleared to return from the DL, Lyles could bump Luis Perdomo from the rotation.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Optioned to minors

Peralta was optioned to Low-A Wisconsin on Thursday.

Since Peralta just pitched against the Marlins on Wednesday, he will head down to the minors in order to continue starting during the major-league All-Star break. Across seven starts with Milwaukee, he's logged a 2.65 ERA and 0.96 WHIP to go along with a 50:18 K:BB over 37.1 innings. Look for him to rejoin the rotation as the second half of the season gets underway.

  • Brewers' Adrian Houser: Back with Brewers

Houser was called up from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Thursday.

Houser was shuttled back to the big leagues in order to provide a little extra depth for Milwaukee with five games in four days on tap. He's currently sporting a 1.00 ERA and 0.78 WHIP across nine innings with the club this season.

  • Alec Asher SP | MIL

Brewers' Alec Asher: Called up by Milwaukee

Asher was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Thursday.

Asher will provide reinforcements within the Brewers' bullpen as the club gears up for five games in four days. He's only appeared in one contest with the major-league team this season, so don't expect him to serve out of any high-leverage situations. Across 62.1 innings with Colorado Springs, he's logged a 4.62 ERA and 1.47 WHIP.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Brewers' Wade Miley: Activated ahead of Thursday's start

Miley (oblique) was reinstated from the 60-day DL prior to his outing against Pittsburgh on Thursday.

This will mark Miley's second start of the year and first since May 8 against Cleveland, when he suffered a strained right oblique. The left-hander was able to appear in four minor-league games while on a rehab assignment over the past few weeks and should be stretched out enough to toss five innings after pitching with Double-A Biloxi on Sunday.

  • Julio Urias SP | LAD

Dodgers' Julio Urias: Throws to live hitters

Urias (shoulder) faced live hitters for the first time during his rehab process Wednesday, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.

Urias threw his first bullpen session last week, and facing live hitters marked the next step in a lengthy recovery process from last June's shoulder surgery. Manager Dave Roberts said that the youngster's fastball was sitting in the 88-92 mph range, which is still a tick off from the 93.1 mph he averaged in the majors prior to going down with a left anterior capsule injury in May of 2017. The next notable step in Urias' recovery process will be a rehab stint in the minors, but no official date has been set for when that will take place. The Dodgers have been targeting a second-half return for the 21-year-old, and his progress falls in line with that expectation.

  • Joey Lucchesi RP | LAA

Padres' Joey Lucchesi: Lasts four innings against Dodgers

Lucchesi (4-5) allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts through four innings in a loss Wednesday to the Dodgers.

This short start wasn't just about the careful approach with which the Padres have been managing Lucchesi's innings this year. He needed 91 pitches to get through four frames as his control was shaky all day. Even though he only walked the one batter, he threw just nine first-pitch strikes to 21 hitters, and those hitters' counts were a big factor behind the six hits the Dodgers landed off Lucchesi. He hasn't completed the sixth inning since April 15 against San Francisco, so even if Lucchesi is on his game, don't count on deep starts from him in the second half.

  • Kenta Maeda SP | NYY

Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Stays hot with win over Padres

Maeda (6-5) allowed one run on four hits and a walk and struck out nine through 5.2 innings in a win Wednesday over the Padres.

Maeda's changeup was dancing Wednesday night, as he induced nine swinging strikes with it on just 24 pitches and Padres hitters managed to put it in play just once. Maeda hasn't given up more than three earned runs in a start since May 11 against Cincinnati. He will carry a 3.13 ERA into the break and has been absolutely lights-out in his last nine starts, striking out 61 against just 19 walks with a pristine 1.97 ERA.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Mets' Jacob deGrom: Brilliance unrewarded once again

DeGrom didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 3-0 extra-inning win over the Phillies, allowing five hits and a walk over eight scoreless innings while striking out seven.

The right-hander has now reeled off 11 straight quality starts, but deGrom has only two wins to show for it during that stretch, as the Mets' anemic offense continues to have problems scoring runs for the ace. The team's lone All-Star will take a 1.68 ERA and 149:30 K:BB through 123.1 innings into the break.

  • Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Stifles Mets in no-decision

Velasquez didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 3-0 extra-inning loss to the Mets, scattering two hits and a walk over six scoreless innings while striking out three.

The right-hander didn't allow a runner past first base as he dueled Jacob deGrom to a standstill for six innings. Velasquez now has nine quality starts on the season, and he'll take a 4.39 ERA and 110:35 K:BB through 94.1 innings into the All-Star break.
