Austin Gomber SP | TEX
Cardinals' Austin Gomber: Continues racking up holds
Gomber, who fired a scoreless two-thirds of an inning in which he allowed a hit during a win over the Brewers on Saturday, now has holds in three straight appearances and seven overall in his first 10 big-league outings.
That's not to say it's all been smooth sailing for the rookie southpaw, who's also given up multiple earned runs on two occasions and has a 4.22 ERA overall. However, Gomber has shown he can hold his own against big-league bats, and manager Mike Matheny hasn't been hesitant to afford him a steady workload. A former starter who opened 89 games overall during his minor-league career, the 24-year-old Gomber would presumably also be capable of sliding into the rotation in a pinch.

Yu Darvish SP | SD
Cubs' Yu Darvish: Rehab start on tap Monday
Darvish (triceps) is scheduled to make a rehab start for Low-A South Bend on Monday, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Darvish tossed a productive bullpen session Friday and will now progress to the next step in his recovery. It's unclear how many minor league rehab starts he'll need, though he could return to the MLB rotation by next weekend at the earliest. More clarity should emerge after his start Monday. Darvish has been out since May 20 with right triceps inflammation.

Luke Farrell RP | WAS
Cubs' Luke Farrell: Optioned to Triple-A
Farrell was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, Alyson Footer of MLB.com reports.
Farrell made his first start of the season Saturday and struggled, allowing three earned runs in just 2.2 innings of work. The 27-year-old will now head to Triple-A after recording a 4.50 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP across 20 innings of work with the Cubs. He could get called back up at some point if the team needs a long reliever or a spot starter.

Johnny Cueto SP | LAA
Giants' Johnny Cueto: Sharp in rehab debut
Cueto (elbow) tossed 48 pitches in a rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento, tossing 3.2 shutout innings with one hit and four strikeouts.
Cueto looked sharp in his first rehab start, but he will likely require two more tuneups before making his return to the majors, according to Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle. That timeline would put the hurler on track to return early-to-mid-July, assuming his elbow doesn't flare up. Cueto posted a 0.84 ERA with 26 strikeouts over 32 innings prior to going down at the end of April.

Julio Teheran SP | BAL
Braves' Julio Teheran: Pounded by O's on Saturday
Teheran (5-5) took the loss Saturday, coughing up seven runs on six hits and three walks over 4.2 innings while striking out six as the Braves fell 7-5 to the Orioles.
While he got hit hard when he was in the strike zone, Teheran continues to struggle with his control. The right-hander's walked exactly three batters in an amazing seven straight starts, posting a 6.05 ERA and 31:21 K:BB in 38.2 innings over that stretch. Teheran will try to get back on track in his next outing Friday in St. Louis.

Joe Musgrove SP | SD
Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Bashed by D-backs on Saturday
Musgrove (2-3) took the loss Saturday as the Pirates fell 7-2 to the Diamondbacks, giving up five runs on seven hits and three walks over four innings while striking out two.
After two brilliant May starts to begin his season once he came off the disabled list, Musgrove has had a rough go of things in June, limping to a 7.45 ERA in his last four outings. His 19:5 K:BB in 19.1 innings over that stretch does offer some encouragement, however, and he'll be in a good spot to rebound when he next takes the mound Friday in San Diego.

Chase Anderson RP | TEX
Brewers' Chase Anderson: Struggles with control
Anderson allowed one earned run on two hits and four walks while striking out nine across five innings Saturday against the Cardinals. He did not factor into the decision.
Anderson was effective -- allowing only a solo home run to Yadier Molina -- in spite of his poor control. However, his lack of command did shorten his start due to prolonged at-bats, as he reached a three-ball count with eight of the 21 batters he faced. He has dealt with inflated walk and home-run rates throughout the season, resulting in a 4.37 ERA.
-
Zack Greinke SP | KC
Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Dominant in Saturday's win
Greinke (7-5) picked up the win in Saturday's 7-2 victory over the Pirates, giving up only two hits over six scoreless innings while striking out seven.
The right-hander's relatively short outing was due to having to work around two rain delays rather than any inefficiency, and Greinke eventually threw 53 of 88 pitches for strikes as he played the strike zone like a piano en route to his eighth quality start of the season. He'll carry a 3.66 ERA into his next outing Thursday in Miami.
-
Miles Mikolas RP | WAS
Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Earns win in strong start
Mikolas (8-2) allowed two earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five across 6.2 innings to earn the win Saturday against the Brewers.
Mikolas allowed both of the earned runs in the first inning and then proceeded to record 16 outs without allowing a hit. While he has been able to bounce back on both occasions, Mikolas has allowed six earned runs in the first inning across his last two starts, a concerning trend. Otherwise, he continues to turn in strong results, allowing only 0.7 HR/9 on the strength of a 51 percent groundball rate.

Aaron Nola SP | PHI
Phillies' Aaron Nola: Quality start in Saturday's win
Nola (9-2) struck out five and picked up the win in Saturday's 5-3 victory over the Nationals, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over six innings.
The right-hander settled down after Washington jumped on him for two runs in the bottom of the first inning, throwing 55 of 83 pitches for strikes en route to his 12th quality start of the season. Nola will carry a 2.58 ERA into his next outing Thursday, a rematch with the Nats back in Philadelphia.
