  • Patrick Corbin SP | TOR

Diamondbacks' Patrick Corbin: Rocked by Mets

Corbin (6-3) allowed five earned runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out seven across six innings to take the loss Saturday against the Mets.

Corbin allowed a three-run homer to Michael Conforto in the second inning, the big blow of his start. His velocity remained down -- continuing the trend of his last several starts -- with his maximum four-seam fastball velocity checking in at 92 mph with the average falling in at 90.4 mph. While Corbin was initially able to maintain his results with diminished velocity, batters seem to have caught up to him as he has now allowed 17 earned runs in 23.2 innings across his last four starts.

  • Steven Matz RP | TB

Mets' Steven Matz: Allows one earned run

Matz (3-4) allowed one earned run on six hits and one walk while striking out three across 6.2 innings to earn the win Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

Matz allowed at least one baserunner in five of the seven innings he pitched, but limited the Diamondbacks to just one extra-base hit. After allowing 2.08 HR/9 in April, Matz has alllowed only two home runs in his last 28.2 innings. He has also consistently pitched deep into games over his past three starts, topping 100 pitches and working at least six innings in each of them. His combination of groundball and strikeout rates make him a quality option in most league formats, so long as he remains healthy.

  • Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Allows 13 basreunners

Martinez allowed three earned runs on seven hits and six walks while striking out five across five innings Saturday against the Cubs. He did not factor into the decision.

Martinez was lucky to escape having allowed only three earned runs as he stranded 11 runners on base, including five in scoring position. Control is emerging as a major problem for Martinez, as he has now walked 18 batters in 12.2 innings of work across three starts since returning from his lat injury. While he continues to generate strikeouts, he is difficult to trust given his current ability to consistently find the strike zone.

  • Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA

Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Earns win Saturday

Hendricks (5-6) allowed three earned runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out three across six innings to earn the win Saturday against the Cardinals.

Hendricks overcame a season-high four walks and 11 baserunners to earn his fifth win of the season. He also surrendered a home run in his fifth consecutive start, bringing his HR/9 up to 1.5 -- a career-worst mark -- for the season. If he continues to allow home runs at that pace, it will be imperative that he effectively limit baserunners in order for his ERA to remain at its current mark.

  • Luis Castillo SP | CHW

Reds' Luis Castillo: Hit with fourth straight loss

Castillo (4-8) took the loss against the Pirates on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks across five innings. He struck out two.

Castillo once again struggled to keep the ball in the park, allowing a pair of homers for the second straight game and putting his season total at a brutal 17 home runs allowed through 78 innings. The 25-year-old has now taken a loss in four straight starts, a stretch in which he's gone six innings just once and allowed a combined 16 runs over 20.2 frames. He'll carry an unsightly 5.77 ERA into his next start, which will come at home against the Cubs.

  • Jordan Lyles RP | KC

Padres' Jordan Lyles: Tough-luck loser Saturday

Lyles (2-4) took the loss Saturday, allowing one run on five hits over seven innings while striking out six as the Padres fell 1-0 to the Braves.

A grooved fastball to Charlie Culberson leading off the fifth inning wound up in the seats, and with Sean Newcomb and the Atlanta bullpen combining on a four-hitter, that was one mistake too many for Lyles. The right-hander has delivered three quality starts in eight outings since moving into the rotation, and he'll carry a 4.45 ERA into his next start Friday in San Francisco.

  • Alex Wood RP | ATH

    Dodgers' Alex Wood: Earns win

Wood (2-5) allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks while striking out two across 5.2 innings to earn the win against the Giants on Saturday.

Wood was hardly dominant, but the start nevertheless represented a positive step for him. His velocity remained at its highest mark of the season while he also showed decent command of his pitches, with 58 of his 85 pitches going for strikes. His inability to work deep into games did continue, as he has now failed to complete six innings of work in four consecutive starts. However, after surrendering 13 earned runs across 12 innings in his three outings prior to Saturday's, this start may get Wood back on track.

  • Zach Eflin SP | BAL

Phillies' Zach Eflin: Holds Brewers in check in Saturday's win

Eflin (4-2) struck out six and picked up the win in Saturday's 4-1 victory over the Brewers, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over five innings.

The right-hander won his third straight start and second straight over Milwaukee, throwing 51 of 73 pitches for strikes before making a relatively early exit. Eflin has racked up an impressive 29:5 K:BB over his last five starts and 27.1 innings, and he'll carry a 3.43 ERA into his next outing Friday on the road against the Nationals.

  • Kyle Freeland SP | COL

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Delivers quality start in Saturday's no-decision

Freeland didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Rangers, allowing two runs on eight hits and a walk over seven innings while striking out three.

The left-hander threw 70 of 106 pitches for strikes in his longest start in over a month as he held Texas off the board until he faded in the seventh inning, recording his ninth quality start of the season in the process. Freeland will take a 3.59 ERA into his next outing Thursday at home against the Mets.

  • Johnny Cueto SP | LAA

Giants' Johnny Cueto: Will throw live batting practice Monday

Cueto (elbow) will throw live batting practice Monday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

It's good news for Cueto as he progresses from a pair of bullpen sessions this week in his recovery from the right elbow strain. The veteran right-hander will likely need at least two rehab starts, and a return at the end of June still appears to be a possibility.
