  • P.J. Conlon SP | NYM

Mets' P.J. Conlon: Will start Monday in place of deGrom

Conlon had his contract selected from Triple-A Las Vegas and will start for the Mets on Monday against Cincinnati.

Conlon received a spring training invite from the Mets, but didn't quite make the cut and started the season at the Triple-A level. It's been a bit of a rocky road since, as the left-hander owns a 6.75 ERA and 1-2 record across five starts for the Aces. The 24-year-old will now make his MLB debut Monday against a Cincinnati squad that, entering Sunday, has the fourth-worst batting average (.242) against left-handed pitching this season.

  • Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Headed to DL with biceps tendinitis

Kershaw was placed on the 10-day DL on Sunday due to left biceps tendinitis.

Kershaw picked up a quality start in his last outing, but no reports of an injury had surfaced at the time, which makes this transaction quite surprising. The DL stint will possibly be backdated to May 2, leaving Kershaw eligible to return next Saturday for a home matchup against the Reds. It's unclear if that's the current plan, however, as the Dodgers could instead exercise additional caution with the three-time Cy Young Award winner. Kershaw has since left the team to be examined by Dr. Neal ElAttrache back in Los Angeles, according to Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times, after which the team should know more about his timetable. In the meantime, Rich Hill (finger) will be activated and start Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, per Pedro Moura of The Athletic Los Angeles.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Mets' Jacob deGrom: Move to DL official

DeGrom (elbow) has been placed on the 10-day DL retroactive to May 3.

DeGrom was originally scheduled to start Monday despite leaving his last start with a hyperextended elbow, but the Mets doubled back and decided to exercise a little more caution with this decision. They'll instead roll with P.J. Conlon on Monday, with deGrom scheduled to make his return when first eligible next Sunday against the Phillies. He'll have to make it through a bullpen session unscathed before that becomes official.

  • Alex Wood RP | ATH

Dodgers' Alex Wood: Dealing with hamstring cramps

Manager Dave Roberts hasn't confirmed when Wood's next start will be after the lefty pitched through hamstring cramps in his previous outing Thursday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Luckily for Wood's fantasy owners, this doesn't sound like anything more than just cramps. Roberts' uncertainty appears to be a result of being overly cautious, so the lefty shouldn't miss much time (if any). Wood's next scheduled start on regular rest would come Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, but we could see him pushed back to Thursday against Cincinnati if the Dodgers opt to activate Rich Hill (finger) from the disabled list for Tuesday's start.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Mets' Jacob deGrom: Headed for DL, Monday start scrapped

DeGrom (elbow) will no longer start Monday against Cincinnati, and the team is expected to place him on the DL, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

DeGrom had originally planned to pitch through what was diagnosed as a hyperextended right elbow, but the team will instead take a more cautious approach. Nothing has necessarily changed about his outlook, as deGrom is only expected to miss one start during his time on the disabled list. The plan is for deGrom to toss a bullpen session Tuesday, and if all goes well, the right-hander will be cleared to return next Sunday against the Phillies. It's unclear at this time who will start Monday in his stead, though it could be bullpen-heavy with a team day off Thursday.

  • Tyler Mahle SP | ATL

Reds' Tyler Mahle: Takes loss Saturday despite quality start

Mahle (2-4) took the loss against the Marlins on Saturday, allowing three runs on five hits over six innings while striking out four.

Homers by Starlin Castro and Justin Bour, as well as a dominant performance by Caleb Smith on the mound for Miami, sent Mahle to defeat despite a strong outing of his own. The 23-year-old has provided quality starts in three straight trips to the mound, a streak he'll look to continue in Thursday's road matchup against the Dodgers.

  • Kenta Maeda SP | NYY

Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Fans seven in no-decision Saturday

Maeda allowed three runs on four hits and a walk across five innings in a no-decision Saturday against the Padres. He struck out seven.

Maeda struggled out of the gate Saturday, serving up a leadoff triple to Travis Jankowski before Eric Hosmer brought him home with a two-run homer in the next at-bat. He settled in from there, however, retiring the next three batters and allowing just one run on two hits and a walk over the next four innings. Maeda is striking out batters at a career-best rate (11.8 K/9), but he's only completed six innings twice this season and his 4.02 ERA and 1.40 WHIP are nothing to write home about. A home start against the Reds is next on the docket.

  • Zack Greinke SP | KC

Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Labors through 5.2 innings

Greinke allowed one earned run on five hits while walking two and striking out five across 5.2 innings Saturday against the Astros. He did not factor into the decision.

Greinke had to work hard to get through the Astros lineup, needing 102 pitches to complete 5.2 innings. However, the results were strong as he allowed seven baserunners with the only run coming on a solo home run by George Springer. He has allowed four or more earned runs in three of his seven starts this season, but his 47:6 K:BB indicates he is pitching well and that better results should continue as the season goes on.

  • Pirates' Jameson Taillon: Gives up one run in no-decision

Taillon allowed one run on six hits and two walks across five innings in a no-decision Saturday against the Brewers. He stuck out one.

Taillon was solid for a second straight outing, and he's now allowed just four runs over his last 11 innings (two starts) after getting touched up for 12 runs across his preceding 5.1 frames. The 26-year-old's lone strikeout marked a season low, but he was able to stifle the Brewers for the most part, allowing just one extra-base hit. He'll look to keep lowering his 4.42 ERA in his next start, which should come at home against the Giants.

  • Dodgers' Ross Stripling: Set to start Sunday

Stripling will start Sunday against the Padres, Pedro Moura of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.

With the game being played in Monterrey, Mexico, the Dodgers are apparently worried about the humidity bothering Rich Hill's balky finger, so they're opting to keep the veteran on the shelf for a little while longer while Stripling steps into the rotation for another spot start. The 28-year-old allowed four runs on eight hits across four innings in a losing effort in his last start. With Hill confirming he didn't suffer a setback, it's safe to assume he'll rejoin the Dodgers' rotation during the team's upcoming homestead, which should push Stripling back to the bullpen.
