  • Patrick Corbin SP | TOR

Diamondbacks' Patrick Corbin: Beats Rockies for 13th win

Corbin (13-11) was charged with two runs (one earned) on two hits over 5.1 innings in a win over the Rockies on Saturday. He struck out four and issued three walks.

The lefty's now earned wins in five straight starts with a mere two earned runs allowed in that span (35.2 innings). He's gotten stronger as the season's progressed, which makes sense as he's further removed from Tommy John surgery. Corbin will have a great opportunity to continue this outstanding stretch with the Padres due up next.

  • Jon Gray SP | TEX

Rockies' Jon Gray: Gives up three runs in loss

Gray (6-4) allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six over five innings in a losing effort against the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

All three runs against Gray were plated on one swing from J.D. Martinez in the first inning. He settled down from there, allowing just two hits over his final four frames, but the damage was already done. Gray has been pitching well lately -- he had a 2.58 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in his last six starts entering play Saturday -- but the right-hander is still best utilized as a road streamer in mixed leagues.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Tagged for six runs in loss

Nola (10-10) gave up six runs on 10 hits and one walk while striking out seven over five innings in a losing effort against the Marlins on Saturday.

The evening started poorly for Nola, as he gave up homers to Giancarlo Stanton and Marcell Ozuna in the first, and the extra-base hits just kept coming. His curveball wasn't sharp and the Marlins sat on his fastball. Nola was excellent in June and July, but the long season may be catching up to the 24-year-old (19 earned runs in his last four starts). Assuming he stays on schedule, Nola will face the Nationals on the road his next time out.

  • Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Shines in no-decision against Nationals

Woodruff allowed one run on just two hits and one walk over seven innings in a no-decision against the Nationals on Saturday. He struck out eight.

It was an excellent performance from the young right-hander, as he got ahead in counts throughout the night (16 of 24 first-pitch strikes) and induced 13 swinging strikes. Both hits against Woodruff were singles, and both came in the fourth inning. He now has a 1.52 ERA and 20:9 K:BB in four starts for the Brewers, and he's done that while working mostly with his fastball and slider. Woodruff lines up to face the Cubs in his next scheduled start.

  • Jerad Eickhoff SP | PIT

Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Transferred to 60-day DL

Eickhoff (hand) will miss the rest of the 2017 season after being transferred to the 60-day disabled list Saturday, Meghan Montemurro of The News Journal reports.

There hasn't been any word on the results of Eickhoff's MRI from Friday, but the right-hander will indeed remain sidelined for the rest of the year after moving to the 60-day DL. The club made this move in order to create space for recently acquired reliever Kevin Siegrist, while Eickhoff will begin to rehab and recover from the nerve irritation that was bothering him during his latest start. News regarding his condition is sure to be released within the next few days, but there shouldn't be much concern for his availability heading into the 2018 campaign.

  • Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD

Pirates' Tyler Glasnow: Immediate September recall unlikely

The Pirates are not expected to recall Glasnow until Triple-A Indianapolis concludes its playoff run, something which might not happen until mid-September, Pirates Prospects reports. "I don't anticipate us making any callups at all until the playoff season are over for Altoona and Indy," manager Clint Hurdle said. "We, as an organization, believe there's gainful experience for the guys that are down there."

The first round of the playoffs start Sept. 6 and could run through Sept. 10, with the five-game championship series then taking place immediately thereafter. As a result, it's possible that Glasnow might only make a couple starts for Pittsburgh. Hurdle did sound excited about the prospects of seeing the 6-foot-8 righty back in the majors. "We're not talking about that many guys, but to get Tyler Glasnow get re-plugged in, yeah, that's definitely on our radar." Since returning to Triple-A in June, Glasnow has lowered his walks total (3.1 BB/9) while increasing his strikeouts (13.5 K/9). He's credited the improvement to pitching almost exclusively out of the stretch.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Logs inning in GCL rehab

Syndergaard (lat) allowed two unearned runs and struck out two in an inning during his rehab debut in the Gulf Coast League on Saturday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

He only threw one inning, so the Mets are clearly easing him into the rehab assignment after he logged successful live batting practice sessions earlier in the process. It's possible he will be able to return to the big-league rotation later this month.

  • Gerrit Cole SP | NYY

Pirates' Gerrit Cole: Roughed up by Reds on Friday

Cole (11-9) took the loss against the Reds on Friday, coughing up five runs on six hits and three walks over six innings while striking out six.

The Reds jumped on him for three runs in the first inning, getting a measure of revenge against Cole after he stiffed them over seven scoreless innings back in Cincinnati on Aug. 26. The right-hander has now given up at least three runs in five of his last six starts, saddling him with a 4.58 ERA over that stretch despite a 40:10 K:BB in 39.1 innings. He'll look for a better result in his next outing Wednesday at home against the Cubs.

  • Jerad Eickhoff SP | PIT

Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Awaiting MRI results

Eickhoff (hand) underwent an MRI on Friday, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The results of the MRI will determine if Eickhoff will be able to return from the disabled list this season. He left his last start because of nerve irritation in his right hand.

  • Luis Castillo SP | CHW

Reds' Luis Castillo: Early exit in Friday's no-decision

Castillo didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 7-3 win over the Pirates, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk over four innings while striking out five.

He threw 60 of 89 pitches for strikes, and with the Reds keeping a very careful eye on his workload, manager Bryan Price elected to go to his bullpen for the fifth inning rather than give Castillo a shot at his third win of the season. The 24-year-old will take the mound Wednesday at home against the Brewers in what will be his final start of the year according to MLB.com. "[Price] told me he didn't want me to throw, like, 100 pitches because I have one more outing after this one," Castillo said through an interpreter after the game -- but as yet the club hasn't indicated whether it will shut him down completely or use him out of the bullpen for the rest of September.
