  • Paul Skenes P | PIT

Pirates' Paul Skenes: Returns to form in victory

Skenes (2-1) earned the win Monday against the Nationals, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and no walks over six innings. He struck out six.

After allowing a career-worst five runs in his last outing against St. Louis, Skenes looked much sharper in this 99-pitch start. The reigning NL Rookie of the Year induced 10 whiffs in his first career regular-season matchup with the Nationals. Skenes has continued to be a fantasy ace, pitching to a 2.96 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 26:3 K:BB across 24.1 innings. The right-hander lines up to make his next start against the Guardians at home this weekend.

  • Rockies' Jeff Criswell: Shifted to 60-day injured list

The Rockies transferred Criswell (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Monday.

The move frees a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Braxton Fulford. Criswell will miss the 2025 season and likely part of the 2026 campaign while recovering from Tommy John surgery.

  • Blake Snell SP | LAD

Dodgers' Blake Snell: Resumes throwing program

Snell (shoulder) resumed his throwing program Monday by playing catch, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Snell landed on the 15-day injured list April 6 due to left shoulder inflammation that he initially tried to pitch through. He was shut down from throwing following his placement on the IL, but Monday's session indicates that the 32-year-old is progressing in his recovery, though he'll need to work up to bullpen sessions before the Dodgers have a better idea of a return date for the veteran southpaw. Snell noted after the throwing session that he felt better than expected, and the club is hopeful he'll throw again Tuesday, per Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com.

  • Quinn Mathews SP | STL

Cardinals' Quinn Mathews: On Triple-A IL with sore shoulder

Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak said that Mathews was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Memphis on Sunday due to left shoulder soreness, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Mozeliak was unwilling to put a timeline on Mathews' return to action. Mathews' velocity was down in his last outing with Memphis on Friday, and he's posted a 6.10 ERA and 7:15 K:BB over his first 10.1 innings this season, so it's possible the shoulder has been nagging at him for a while. The Cardinals will proceed cautiously with the top prospect.

  • Aaron Ashby SP | MIL

Brewers' Aaron Ashby: Throwing bullpen session Tuesday

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Monday that Ashby (oblique) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

The lefty will then progress to live batting practice sessions and then pitching in extended spring training games. Assuming that all goes well, Ashby should then be ready for a rehab assignment. The southpaw has been out since early March with a right oblique strain.

  • Sean Manaea RP | NYM

Mets' Sean Manaea: Cleared to resume throwing

Manaea (oblique) resumed playing catch from 60 feet Monday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Manaea was diagnosed with a right oblique strain early in spring training and was placed on the 15-day injured list to begin the season. After struggling in his recovery toward the tail end of camp, Manaea received a platelet-rich plasma injection for his oblique and was shut down from throwing for two weeks. With a recent follow-up MRI showing improvement, Manaea has been cleared to resume his throwing program but will need some extended ramp-up time before he's ready to head out of on a minor-league rehab assignment. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that Manaea will be limited to throwing out to 60 feet for the next 10 days before being reassessed.

  • Tobias Myers RP | NYM

Brewers' Tobias Myers: On track for season debut next week

Myers (oblique) will make his third and likely final rehab start Friday at Triple-A Nashville, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Myers is projected to throw 65-to-70 pitches Friday and, assuming he comes out of the start with no hiccups, is expected to rejoin the Brewers' rotation next week in San Francisco. The right-hander has been working his way back from a left oblique strain, which he suffered in mid-March.

  • Quinn Mathews SP | STL

Cardinals' Quinn Mathews: Goes on 7-day IL at Triple-A

Triple-A Memphis placed Mathews on the 7-day injured list Sunday due to an undisclosed injury.

Mathews' velocity was down significantly in his last start for Memphis on Friday, and he has posted a 6.10 ERA and 7:15 K:BB over his first 10.1 innings this season. The Cardinals could have more specifics on the top prospect's injury soon.

  • Quinn Priester SP | MIL

Brewers' Quinn Priester: Remains in rotation

Priester is scheduled to make his second start with the Brewers on Tuesday versus the Tigers at American Family Field, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Milwaukee's rotation became more crowded after Jose Quintana was called up from Triple-A Nashville this past Friday to make his team debut, but Priester will retain a starting role after the Brewers moved Elvin Rodriguez to the bullpen. Priester's standing in the rotation could be on shakier ground in the coming weeks once Tobias Myers (oblique) and Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) are likely ready to return from the 15-day injured list, but the 24-year-old righty did his part to make a strong first impression after being acquired from the Red Sox last Monday. The Brewers tapped Priester to start three days later, and he held his own in a tough environment for pitchers in Colorado, limiting the Rockies to one earned run on six hits and two walks while striking out four over five innings.

  • Kodai Senga SP | NYM

Mets' Kodai Senga: Cruises to second win

Senga (2-1) tossed seven scoreless frames in a win over the Athletics on Sunday, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out four.

Senga needed just 79 pitches to complete seven frames and ended his day with back-to-back punchouts against Seth Brown and Gio Urshela. Sunday's outing matched Senga's longest scoreless outing in the majors and he's now working on a 13-inning scoreless streak. Senga owns a 1.06 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB in 17 innings and will look to keep things rolling in a home matchup versus St. Louis this week.
