Logan Webb SP | SF
Giants' Logan Webb: Keeps Astros in check in win
Webb (1-0) picked up the win after giving up one run on five hits and no walks in seven innings Tuesday against Houston. He struck out six.
Webb faced the minimum number of batters through three innings Tuesday, but Jose Altuve took him deep to lead off the fourth frame. It was an otherwise excellent outing on the road by Webb, who tossed 100 pitches and induced three double plays to keep Houston's bats in check. On tap for the star right-hander is a matchup at home against the Reds, which tentatively lines up for early next week.

Kodai Senga SP | NYM
Mets' Kodai Senga: Fans eight in loss
Senga (0-1) allowed four runs (two earned) on three hits and a walk over five innings Tuesday, striking out eight and taking a loss against Miami.
Senga coughed up a two-run shot to Kyle Stowers in the first inning and a two-run double to Graham Pauley in the fourth after Francisco Lindor started the frame with an error. Senga generated 16 whiffs on 77 pitches (49 strikes), including eight with his infamous "ghost fork." He's registered a 2.99 career ERA over 171.2 MLB frames but was limited to just one start in 2024 due to multiple injuries. Senga's next start is lined up to be a rematch at home against the Marlins.

Sandy Alcantara SP | MIA
Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Picks up victory
Alcantara (1-0) allowed two runs on three hits over five innings Tuesday, striking out four and earning a win over the Mets.
Alcantara coughed up a solo shot to Brandon Nimmo in the second inning and an RBI single to Francisco Lindor in the third. Alcantara tossed 91 pitches against the Pirates on Opening Day but was limited to just 70 pitches (43 strikes) Tuesday against the Mets. Through two starts, he's produced a 3.72 ERA with an 11:4 K:BB over 9.2 innings. Alcantara's next start is projected to be a rematch with the Mets in New York next week.

Chad Patrick P | MIL
Brewers' Chad Patrick: Serviceable results in start
Patrick didn't factor into the decision after throwing 4.2 scoreless innings on three hits and three walks Tuesday against the Royals. He struck out five.
The right-hander was one out away from qualifying for a potential win in the fifth inning, but he was pulled after intentionally walking Bobby Witt to set up southpaw Jared Koenig to face the lefty-hitting Michael Massey. The Brewers have several members of the starting rotation on the injured list for the time being, which should keep Patrick in the rotation perhaps for a few more turns. Patrick is tentatively listed as Milwaukee's probable pitcher for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Carson Spiers SP | CIN
Reds' Carson Spiers: Handed tough-luck loss
Spiers (0-1) allowed a run on three hits and two walks over six innings Tuesday, striking out five and taking a loss against Texas.
Spiers delivered a quality start in his season debut, but the Reds were victims of a complete game shutout by Nathan Eovaldi. The only damage against Spiers was a solo shot from Wyatt Langford in the first inning. Spiers generated 11 whiffs on 85 total pitches (48 strikes). The 27-year-old righty is currently in line for a start in Milwaukee this weekend.

Reynaldo Lopez RP | ATL
Braves' Reynaldo Lopez: Slated for surgery
Lopez will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Imaging on Lopez's shoulder revealed only inflammation, but the 31-year-old righty will go under the knife to determine if he has any structural damage that needs correcting. Atlanta will have more information on the duration of Lopez's IL stint once the surgery is completed, but he shouldn't be expected to return for at least a couple of months.

Aaron Civale SP | ATH
Brewers' Aaron Civale: Playing catch
Civale (hamstring) played catch Tuesday, Sophia Minnaert of FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin reports.
It's still unclear if Civale will be able to rejoin the active roster when eligible to return from the 15-day injured list April 15, but the fact he's already resumed throwing a day after being diagnosed with a hamstring strain is an encouraging sign for a Brewers squad that's thin on rotation options. A return timeline may begin to emerge once the 29-year-old is cleared for mound work.

Elvin Rodriguez RP | ARI
Brewers' Elvin Rodriguez: Will get another start
Rodriguez will Saturday against the Reds, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Rodriguez coughed up four runs on six hits and one walk over four innings Monday against the Royals in his first start in the majors since 2022. The Brewers are in a tough spot as they navigate multiple injuries in their rotation, so they will give Rodriguez at least one more opportunity.

Sean Manaea RP | NYM
Mets' Sean Manaea: Still struggling with oblique
Manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that Manaea is still having problems with his strained right oblique and will be shut down from throwing for two weeks after receiving a platelet-rich-plasma injection, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
The left-hander suffered the injury early in spring training and was able to start a throwing program in mid-March, but he apparently hasn't been able to ramp up as expected over the past couple weeks. Manaea appeared to have a chance of making his 2025 debut before the end of April, but that now shouldn't be expected to happen until at least late May.

Thomas Harrington P | PIT
Pirates' Thomas Harrington: Contract selected for MLB debut
The Pirates selected Harrington's contract from Triple-A Indianapolis ahead of his scheduled start against the Rays on Tuesday.
The right-hander will make his MLB debut in Tampa Bay, with closer David Bednar being sent to Triple-A to free up space on the big-league roster. Harrington just missed out on being included in Pittsburgh's season-opening rotation, but he'll still end up making his first start of 2025 in the majors. The 23-year-old split most of 2024 between Double-A Altoona and Indianapolis, and he finished the year with a 2.61 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 115:19 K:BB across 117.1 innings. Harrington may need to deliver a strong debut in order to receive additional turns through the rotation.
