Verlander allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two over 2.1 innings, taking a no-decision in Friday's extra-innings win over the Mariners.

Both teams dipped into their bullpens early, and the Giants had to because Verlander wasn't pitching well early on. He threw 44 of 65 pitches for strikes but gave up a solo home run to Julio Rodriguez in the first inning and got in more trouble in the third. The veteran right-hander's first year with the Giants is off to a mediocre beginning -- he's allowed five runs on 11 hits and three walks while striking out seven over 7.1 innings across two starts. He's tentatively scheduled for a home start versus the Reds next week.

Keller (1-1) took the loss Friday versus the Yankees, allowing seven runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out four over 3.2 innings.

He kept the ball in the yard for the second start in a row, but Keller didn't have much success anywhere else. The Yankees were able to tag him for multiple runs in the second, third and fourth innings to send him to his first loss. Keller has added an 8:5 K:BB with eight runs allowed over 9.2 innings. Wins will be tough enough to come by while pitching for the Pirates, but Keller should be able to take care of business against weaker offenses, making him a reasonable low-end fantasy starter. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Cardinals.

Vasquez (0-1) took the loss against the Cubs on Friday, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and five walks with two strikeouts over 4.2 innings.

Vasquez walked in a run in the first inning and couldn't make it out of the fifth after allowing two more runs in the frame. The 26-year-old struggled with his command, finding the zone on just 44 of 82 pitches and generating only four swinging strikes. He'll take a 1.69 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 5:9 K:BB through 10.2 innings into a road matchup with the Athletics next week.

Imanaga (2-0) earned the win against the Padres on Friday, allowing one run on four hits and no walks with four strikeouts over 7.1 innings.

Imanaga gave up a solo homer in the third inning but mostly baffled the Padres, delivering their first loss of the season. He pounded the zone, firing strikes on 68 of 91 pitches while generating 13 whiffs. The 31-year-old has been fantastic so far in 2025, posting a 0.98 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 10:6 K:BB across 18.1 innings. He'll aim to keep the momentum going against the Rangers next week.

Fedde (1-1) took the loss against the Red Sox on Friday, allowing six runs on five hits and four walks with one strikeout over three innings.

Fedde was torched for five runs in the first inning, including back-to-back home runs from Trevor Story and Wilyer Abreu. His command was off, as he threw only 37 of 65 pitches for strikes and generated just three whiffs. The 32-year-old owns a 7.00 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 3:4 K:BB through nine innings this season and will try to rebound in a more favorable matchup against the Pirates next week.

Megill (2-0) earned the win over the Blue Jays on Friday, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out four over 5.1 shutout innings.

Megill has been strong to begin the season, giving up one run on five hits and four walks while striking out 10 over his first 10.1 innings. He threw 48 of 82 pitches for strikes in his second start of the campaign, racking up nine whiffs. His fastball was back down to an average of 95.3 mph, just a little under his 2024 season average and 1.1 mph less than his season debut. The right-hander is tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the Marlins next week.

Manaea said Friday that his strained right oblique is feeling good after receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection Tuesday, Manny Gomez of NJ.com reports.

Manaea is still only three days into his two-week no-throw period following his injection, but the fact that he's beginning to feel better is encouraging after he had struggled with the injury for most of spring training. Once he's cleared to begin throwing, the Mets will likely build the 33-year-old back up slowly, and he'll presumably make a few rehab starts in the minors before his season debut.

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Friday that Painter (elbow) could begin a rehab assignment soon, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Painter had a two-inning live batting practice session Friday that went well and the next step for the right-hander could be pitching in a game. He is healthy, but Painter is being slow-played by the Phillies as he comes back from Tommy John surgery in July 2023. The top prospect is expected to become an option for the big-league rotation around midseason.

Suarez (back) will throw a live batting practice session Saturday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

It will be the first time the left-hander has faced hitters since he came down with lower-back stiffness in mid-March. Suarez could be cleared for a rehab assignment soon if things go well Saturday. He hopes to be ready for his season debut before the end of April.

Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said Friday that Lopez's right shoulder surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The operation is arthroscopic in nature, but the extent of the damage in Lopez's shoulder won't be known until the surgery is performed. He's already been moved to the 60-day injured list and is likely out until the second half even in a best-case scenario.
