Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto said Friday on MLB Network that he's "hopeful" Gilbert (elbow) will rejoin the rotation before the end of May, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Gilbert is on the 15-day injured list with a Grade 1 flexor strain in his pitching arm. He's about a week into a two-week shutdown period, so more should be known about a potential timeline for the right-hander late next week. It's not clear whether the Mariners will ask Gilbert to make a rehab start before returning.

Kirby has been ramping up his throwing without issue and could begin a rehab assignment as soon as this weekend. The right-hander will make "at least two, maybe three" rehab starts, per Dipoto. Kirby has been working his way back from right shoulder inflammation, an injury that first cropped up in early March.

The Mets will call up Tidwell from Triple-A Syracuse during their weekend series in St. Louis, Michael Mayer of MetsmerizedOnline.com reports.

Per Mike Puma of the New York Post, Tidwell will make his major-league debut in a start against the Cardinals on Sunday. Tidwell has posted a 5.00 ERA in his first six starts with Syracuse this season but has struck out 37 over 27 innings. The 23-year-old is likely to be in store for just one start before heading back to Syracuse.

Manoah (elbow) is throwing regular bullpen sessions at the Blue Jays' spring training complex in Dunedin, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The right-hander is making his way back from an internal brace procedure performed in June 2024. Manoah's rehab is on schedule, but he's not expected to be an option for the Blue Jays' rotation until after the All-Star break. Over five starts and 24.1 innings last season before being shut down, Manoah posted a 3.70 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 26:8 K:BB.

Darvish (elbow) is likely still several weeks away from his 2025 Padres debut, but he could be activated from the IL in late May, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Darvish most recently threw a bullpen session, which included a "heavier dose of breaking pitches," last Friday. He's been purposely tracked for a "slow, steady progression," though he may be ready to face live hitters in the near future. Cassavell notes that San Diego's schedule becomes tighter in late May and early June, which may be the impetus for Darvish's activation sometime during that span.

Faedo (shoulder) is scheduled to throw live batting practice May 6, MLB.com reports.

Faedo has been sidelined since March 21 due to the shoulder injury and is restarting his ramp-up process. He'll be out until at least late May, though he'll serve as a multi-inning reliever upon his return and may not need a full 30-day rehab assignment to be deemed MLB ready.

Kikuchi didn't factor into the decision Thursday against Detroit after allowing two runs on five hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out five.

Both of Kikuchi's runs allowed came via solo homers, with one coming on a third-inning shot by Javier Baez and another on a fourth-inning blast by Gleyber Torres. It was still an encouraging bounce-back effort overall by the left-hander, who yielded a lone walk after lending a whopping 18 free passes over 25.1 frames in April. Kikuchi will look to further improve his 4.21 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 33:19 K:BB across 36.1 frames in a tough matchup next week versus the Blue Jays, who entered Wednesday with a .758 OPS against left-handed pitching this season.

Mize (5-1) earned the win Thursday against the Angels after allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks in seven innings. He struck out four.

Although he tied a season high with four runs and two homers allowed, Mize hurled seven innings Thursday for the second time this season. The long ball has been an issue for the right-hander over his last four starts, during which he's been taken deep six times over 25 innings. Despite those shortcomings, Mize has maintained a strong 2.70 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 27:9 K:BB across 36.2 frames in 2025, but he's next slated for a tough assignment at hitter-friendly Coors Field against the Rockies.

Freeland didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Giants after allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out five.

Thursday marked the first time in his last four starts that Freeland threw six innings, and his five punchouts were his most since April 8. The quality start was also the left-hander's third on the campaign, but he did concede three extra-base hits, one of which left the yard off the bat of Heliot Ramos in the first inning. Freeland will take a dicey 5.70 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 28:6 K:BB over 36.1 innings into his next scheduled start at home versus the Tigers. Through 12.2 frames at Coors Field in 2025, Freeland has a dismal 8.53 ERA and 1.82 WHIP.

Verlander didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Rockies after allowing two runs on five hits and one walk in 6.1 innings. He struck out four.

It was the longest start of the year by Verlander, who also generated a respectable 11 whiffs Thursday. However, the veteran right-hander did surrender a home run, a seventh-inning leadoff solo shot by Ryan McMahon, for the fifth time in seven outings in 2025. Verlander now has a 4.38 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 32:13 K:BB over 37 innings ahead of a daunting task on the road next week against the Cubs, who lead the major leagues in run scored (192) as a club.
