Boyd (1-2) took the loss Wednesday against San Diego, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.

It was a solid outing overall for Boyd, though he ran into trouble in the third inning, when the Padres tallied two runs on three hits and a walk. While he's now dropped back-to-back decisions, the 34-year-old Boyd has gotten off to a strong start with the Cubs, pitching to a 2.01 ERA with a 1.25 WHIP and 20:9 K:BB through his first four outings (22.1 innings). The left-hander will look to get back in the win column in his next start, tentatively scheduled for next week against the Dodgers.

Pivetta (3-1) earned the win Wednesday over the Cubs, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out six.

It was another strong outing from Pivetta, with the lone blemish against him coming on a Kyle Tucker sacrifice fly in the third inning. The 32-year-old Pivetta's ERA is down to 1.57 on the year with a 0.83 WHIP and 24:5 K:BB through 23 innings after joining the Padres on a four-year, $55 million contract in February. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, currently lined up for next week in Detroit.

Festa came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Mets, allowing five hits and a walk over 4.1 scoreless innings. He struck out six.

The 25-year-old right-hander had an impressive, if short, performance, tossing 51 of 76 pitches for strikes before exiting the mound. Festa also got plenty of help to preserve his scoreless outing, as Harrison Bader threw a runner out at the plate in the second inning and Danny Coulombe escaped the one-out, bases-loaded jam he inherited in the fifth by getting Juan Soto to ground into a double play. Through his first two starts in the majors this season, Festa has yet to give up a run over nine innings, posting a 1.11 WHIP and 10:2 K:BB, but he also has yet to pitch the full five frames necessary to qualify for a win. If he sticks around on the big-league roster, he'll aim to give the Twins more length in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home next week against the White Sox.

Gray (wrist) the hard cast removed from his right arm Tuesday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Gray suffered a fractured wrist during spring training after being struck by a 106-mph line drive, but he seems to be recovering well. The 33-year-old righty expects to start up a throwing program within the next several weeks, at which point a return timeline may begin to emerge.

Quintana (2-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-1 victory over Detroit, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out four.

The veteran southpaw couldn't match the seven scoreless innings he tossed in his season debut, but Quintana was still sharp in his second outing of 2025. He tossed 58 of 100 pitches for strikes, including 20 called strikes as he kept Tigers hitters guessing. Quintana will take a 0.71 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 6:3 K:BB through his first 12.2 innings into his next start, which lines up to come on the road early next week in San Francisco.

Kopech (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, per MLB.com.

The bullpen was Kopech's second since he had his throwing program stalled in late March. The veteran reliever has recently stated that he "feels good" as he ramps up toward a return from the right shoulder injury that has kept him from seeing any game action so far this season. Kopech will presumably need a minor-league rehab assignment before he's ready to be activated off the IL, and when he eventually rejoins the Dodgers' big-league bullpen, he could be eased back into a high-leverage role considering the amount of time he has missed.

Bassitt (2-0) collected the win in Wednesday's 3-1 victory over Atlanta, scattering three hits and two walks over five scoreless innings. He struck out 10.

While Drake Baldwin eventually ruined the combined shutout bid with a solo shot in the ninth inning off Jeff Hoffman, the Blue Jays bullpen picked up where Bassitt left off en route to a franchise-record 19 strikeouts in a nine-inning game. The Ks kept Bassitt from lasting long enough to record a quality start -- he left after 90 pitches (59 strikes), including 33 called or swinging strikes -- but the veteran right-hander has been brilliant to begin the season, allowing just two runs over his first four starts. Bassitt will take a 0.77 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 31:5 K:BB through 23.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Houston.

Strider (0-1) took the loss Wednesday, giving up two runs on five hits and a walk over five-plus innings as Atlanta was downed 3-1 by the Blue Jays. He struck out five.

Making his first big-league start since April 5 of last season after completing his recovery from an internal brace procedure on his elbow, Strider looked strong early and topped out at 97.9 mph with his fastball on a strikeout of Vladimir Guerrero in the first inning. The Toronto slugger got his revenge though, taking Strider deep on a slider in the top of the sixth to help chase the right-hander from the game. Strider handled a full workload, tossing 58 of 97 pitches for strikes, and his final strikeout of the day was the 500th of his career. He lines up to make his next start at home early next week against the Cardinals.

Montero (0-1) allowed five runs on eight hits across five innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Brewers. He walked one and struck out eight.

Montero, who was recalled from Triple-A Toledo earlier Wednesday for the spot start, struggled to keep the ball in the park during his 2025 MLB debut. The righty was tagged for home runs by Christian Yelich, Rhys Hoskins and Sal Frelick. The eight strikeouts were a bright spot for Montero, as he recorded only a 7.0 K/9 during his 2024 rookie season. He could now return to the minors, as the Tigers were simply giving their other starters a bit of extra rest and don't have any injuries in the rotation.

Manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that there's a "chance" Dobbins is recalled from Triple-A Worcester to start Friday against the White Sox, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

The right-hander made his MLB debut in early April with five innings of two-run ball in a doubleheader against the Cardinals, and his second career start could come this week. Dobbins has given up eight earned runs (including four homers) in his two outings with Worcester this season, but he could still be on the streaming radar Friday with the White Sox ranking 29th in the league with 53 runs scored.
