  • Andrew Abbott SP | CIN

Reds' Andrew Abbott: Set to make season debut Saturday

Abbott (shoulder) will be activated from the 15-day injured list and make his season debut Saturday against the Pirates, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports.

Abbott made two rehab starts with Triple-A Louisville, allowing four runs with an 8:5 K:BB over 10 innings of work. He threw 92 pitches in his second rehab outing, so the lefty should be capable of shouldering a full workload Saturday. Abbott got a late start to the season after being slow-played in spring training following last year's shoulder issues.

  • Edward Cabrera SP | CHC

Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Activated ahead of Friday's start

The Marlins activated Cabrera (blister) from the 15-day injured list Friday.

Cabrera is set to make his season debut Friday against the Nationals after recovering from a blister on his right middle finger. The right-hander threw only 53 pitches during his second rehab start with Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday, so he will be on a relatively limited pitch count Friday.

  • Roddery Munoz RP | HOU

Cardinals' Roddery Munoz: Summoned from minors

The Cardinals recalled Munoz from Triple-A Memphis on Friday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Munoz has permitted one run with a 7:5 K:BB over five innings with Memphis this season, recording one save in the process. He is taking the roster spot vacated by Chris Roycroft, who has been optioned to Memphis.

  • Darren McCaughan: Signs back with Minnesota

McCaughan agreed to a minor-league contract with the Twins on Friday, Darren Wolfson of Channel 5 Saint Paul reports.

McCaughan was designated for assignment by the Twins earlier in the week and rejected going to Triple-A St. Paul in favor of free agency. He's now back with the organization on a new deal. He's appeared in three games out of the bullpen for Minnesota this season, registering a 1.69 ERA and 6:1 K:BB across 5.1 innings. McCaughan could make it back in the majors at some point this season, although he would need to be added back to the 40-man roster first.

  • Pablo Lopez SP | MIN

Twins' Pablo Lopez: Sent to 15-day IL

The Twins placed Lopez (hamstring) on the 15-day injured list Friday.

Lopez suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain during Tuesday's start against the Royals and will miss at least a couple weeks. Minnesota recalled David Festa from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday to make the start versus Detroit. Lopez sports a 1-1 record, 1.62 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 14:2 K:BB across his first 16.2 innings this season.

  • David Festa P | MIN

Twins' David Festa: Recalled from Triple-A

The Twins recalled Festa from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.

Minnesota placed Pablo Lopez (hamstring) on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Festa is expected to make the start Friday against the Tigers. In two starts at the Triple-A level this season, the right-hander has an 8:2 K:BB and 5.40 ERA across 8.1 innings. He made 14 regular-season appearances (13 starts) for the Twins last season, turning in a 4.90 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 77:23 K:BB in 64.1 innings of work.

  • Khal Stephen SP | CLE

Blue Jays' Khal Stephen: Overmatching FSL hitters

Stephen gave up one run on one hit and one walk while striking out nine over six innings for Single-A Dunedin on Thursday.

The 22-year-old Mississippi State product, selected in the second round of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, has perhaps predictably been too much for Florida State League hitters to begin his pro career. Through two starts, Stephen has a 15:2 K:BB in 11 innings and has allowed only three hits, leading to a 0.82 ERA and 0.45 WHIP. A quick promotion to High-A Vancouver should be coming for the right-hander, although the organization is likely waiting for the weather to be less of an issue in the Pacific Northwest before elevating Stephen.

  • Zach Thompson RP | ATL

Braves' Zach Thompson: Recalled from Triple-A

Atlanta recalled Thompson from Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.

Thompson was up for a week earlier this season but didn't make an appearance. He will provide length in the bullpen for Atlanta.

  • Edward Cabrera SP | CHC

Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Rejoining rotation Friday

Cabrera (blister) will make his season debut Friday against the Nationals, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Cabrera threw 53 pitches in his second rehab start with Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday, so he's not going to be ready for a full workload Friday. The right-hander is coming back from a blister on his right middle finger.

  • Jesus Luzardo SP | PHI

Phillies' Jesus Luzardo: Another stellar performance

Luzardo didn't factor into the decision Thursday against Atlanta after giving up one run on six hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out six.

After allowing one run in the first inning via a Matt Olson groundout, Luzardo hurled five scoreless innings thereafter in a tough matchup in Atlanta. Through three starts (18 innings), the hard-throwing left-hander now sports a 1.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 25:5 K:BB following an injury-ruined 2024 campaign. Luzardo is tentatively scheduled to take the ball early next week at home against the Giants.
