Patrick (1-0) earned the win after tossing 5.1 innings, allowing one run on two hits and three walks while striking out four in Sunday's 8-2 win over the Reds.

Patrick got over the hump for his first career major-league win after throwing 4.2 scoreless innings Tuesday against the Royals. The right-hander was nearly spotless Sunday, with the only blemish on his line coming on a solo homer from Spencer Steer in the top of the fifth inning. Patrick has now allowed just one run over 10 innings in two turns in Milwaukee's rotation, and he's tentatively set to return to the mound Saturday on the road against the Diamondbacks.

Jobe did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 4-3 win against the White Sox, pitching five innings while allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks. He struck out four.

The rookie right-hander looked sharper in this 86-pitch outing but generated just six whiffs against a subpar Chicago lineup. Jobe managed to limit hard contact, as all four hits yielded were singles, but the walks are looking problematic to start the season for the 22-year-old. Over his first nine innings, Jobe has a 5.00 ERA and 1.56 WHIP with a 7:7 K:BB. He is currently scheduled to make his next start against the Twins in Minnesota next weekend.

Peterson was removed from Sunday's start against the Blue Jays in the fifth inning due to nausea and blurred vision, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The left-hander was in clear discomfort during the fifth inning and was finally pulled with two outs after he had two walks and a hit-by-pitch to three straight batters. Prior to that inning, Peterson was pitching well and still allowed just one run across his 4.2 frames. Peterson should be OK for his next turn through the rotation versus the A's next weekend.

Perez took a no-decision Sunday against the Tigers. He struck out four over 6.1 innings while allowing one run on four hits and two walks.

The veteran lefty tossed 82 pitches, including 51 strikes, while topping out at just 90.4 mph; however, he managed to earn his second quality start in as many outings this season. The only blemish on Perez's line was an RBI-single hit by Javier Baez in the second inning. Perez will continue to anchor the White Sox rotation with performances like this one, as his ERA now stands at 1.42, supported by a 2.29 FIP, over his first 12.1 frames. The 34-year-old is currently scheduled to make his next start against the Red Sox at home next weekend.

Cortes, who was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left elbow strain prior to Sunday's game against the Reds, said he will receive a second opinion on his injury, Sophia Minnaert of FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin reports.

After he was lit up by the Yankees for eight earned runs over two innings in his Brewers debut last weekend, Cortes acknowledged that he was feeling more sore than usual and not recovering well following that start. However, with an MRI earlier this week revealed nothing concerning, Cortes felt well enough to pitch Thursday and delivered a gem in the Brewers' win over the Reds, allowing just three baserunners and striking out six over six scoreless innings. According to Ryan Herrera of MLB.com, Cortes' elbow still felt sore Friday, prompting him to alert the Brewers' medical team Saturday. A collective decision was made for Cortes to skip his next start and go on the IL, but the Brewers are still in the information-gathering stage and aren't yet worried about a long-term absence for the southpaw. For his part, Cortes described his level of concern as "pretty low," but a timeline for his return as well as a treatment plan for his elbow might not be established until he gets checked out by another doctor. Cortes is now the eighth Milwaukee starting pitcher to hit the IL this season, leaving Freddy Peralta as the lone healthy member of the Brewers' planned five-man rotation.

Francis (1-1) took the loss Sunday versus the Mets, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out six.

Francis worked around six singles over his 90 pitches, out of which he generated 10 whiffs. The New York lineup was unable to square up the Toronto right-hander, as the pair of runs they were plated in the third inning came on a Pete Alonso single and Brandon Nimmo sacrifice fly. Francis now sports a 3.18 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with a 10:5 K:BB over his first 11.1 innings. The 28-year-old lines up to make his next start at Baltimore next weekend.

Peterson appeared to be pitching through an unspecified injury during his start in Sunday's win over the Blue Jays, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. He took a no-decision in the Mets' 2-1 win after giving up one earned run on three hits and five walks while striking out three.

Peterson kept the Blue Jays off the board over the first four innings but seemed to be in discomfort while laboring through the top of the fifth. He was visited on the mound on multiple occasions during the inning and issued a pair of walks and also hit a batter to load the bases before manager Carlos Mendoza pulled him from the game. Max Kranick came on from the bullpen and recorded the final out of the inning to strand three runners and allow the Mets to maintain a one-run lead that held up as the difference, but Peterson didn't qualify for the win after narrowly missing out on the five-inning threshold. Mendoza should provide more details regarding Peterson's situation after the game, but for now, the left-hander tentatively lines up to make his next turn through the rotation next weekend versus the Athletics in Sacramento.

Woodruff (shoulder) will throw a simulated game Monday before reporting to Triple-A Nashville to begin a rehab assignment, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The veteran right-hander can take up to 30 days on the rehab assignment, and he'll likely require most of that time to continue building his way back up from the shoulder surgery he underwent in October 2023. Woodruff will be a key rotation piece for Milwaukee once activated, especially with Nestor Cortes (elbow), Aaron Civale (hamstring) and Tobias Myers (oblique) all dealing with early-season injuries.

Astros general manager Dana Brown said Sunday that Valdez is dealing with some fatigue and a sore throat, putting his status in question for his scheduled turn through the rotation Tuesday in Seattle, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

The left-hander could still be available to pitch Tuesday, but for now the Astros are leaving Tuesday's starter as "to-be-announced." In his first two starts of the season, Valdez has a 3.17 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB across 12 innings.

The Angels optioned Dana to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.

Dana's stay with the Angels lasted just two days, as he was recalled from Triple-A on Friday and appeared out of the bullpen later that night in an 8-6 loss to the Guardians. Since he covered three innings and gave up two earned runs on four hits and one walk in that appearance, Dana was unlikely to be available for another day or two, so the Angels opted to swap him off the active roster in favor of a fresh arm in right-hander Michael Darrell-Hicks, who was called up from Salt Lake. Dana is expected to move back into the rotation upon his return to the Triple-A club.
