Patrick didn't factor into the decision after throwing 4.2 scoreless innings on three hits and three walks Tuesday against the Royals. He struck out five.

The right-hander was one out away from qualifying for a potential win in the fifth inning, but he was pulled after intentionally walking Bobby Witt to set up southpaw Jared Koenig to face the lefty-hitting Michael Massey. The Brewers have several members of the starting rotation on the injured list for the time being, which should keep Patrick in the rotation perhaps for a few more turns. Patrick is tentatively listed as Milwaukee's probable pitcher for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Spiers (0-1) allowed a run on three hits and two walks over six innings Tuesday, striking out five and taking a loss against Texas.

Spiers delivered a quality start in his season debut, but the Reds were victims of a complete game shutout by Nathan Eovaldi. The only damage against Spiers was a solo shot from Wyatt Langford in the first inning. Spiers generated 11 whiffs on 85 total pitches (48 strikes). The 27-year-old righty is currently in line for a start in Milwaukee this weekend.

Eovaldi (1-0) allowed four hits and struck out eight in a complete game shutout win over the Reds on Tuesday.

Eovaldi was remarkably efficient Tuesday, firing 70 of 99 pitches for strikes en route to the first Maddux of the 2025 MLB season. He retired the first 12 batters he faced and did not allow an extra-base hit. Eovaldi generated 18 whiffs, including 10 against his splitter. The veteran righty has been terrific so far, posting a 17:0 K:BB with a 1.20 ERA across 15 frames. Eovaldi will look to keep the momentum going in his next start, which is lined up to be next week against the Cubs in Chicago.

Lopez will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Imaging on Lopez's shoulder revealed only inflammation, but the 31-year-old righty will go under the knife to determine if he has any structural damage that needs correcting. Atlanta will have more information on the duration of Lopez's IL stint once the surgery is completed, but he shouldn't be expected to return for at least a couple of months.

Civale (hamstring) played catch Tuesday, Sophia Minnaert of FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin reports.

It's still unclear if Civale will be able to rejoin the active roster when eligible to return from the 15-day injured list April 15, but the fact he's already resumed throwing a day after being diagnosed with a hamstring strain is an encouraging sign for a Brewers squad that's thin on rotation options. A return timeline may begin to emerge once the 29-year-old is cleared for mound work.

McCullers (forearm) will make a rehab start at Double-A Corpus Christi on Saturday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

McCullers will move down a level after making his first rehab start Sunday at Triple-A Sugar Land, during which he gave up two earned runs over two innings while throwing 35 pitches. The 31-year-old may look to tack on another inning to his workload during his upcoming Double-A start as he works toward appearing in his first MLB game in more than two years.

The Mariners optioned Hancock to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

Hancock couldn't make it out of the first inning during his season debut Monday, surrendering six earned runs on seven hits and a walk while recording just two outs en route to taking a loss to the Tigers. He'll now head to Triple-A in order to right the ship. Seattle called up Jhonathan Diaz from Tacoma in a corresponding move, and while he'll provide depth in the bullpen in the short term, he could be a candidate to fill the vacant spot in the rotation when Seattle next requires a fifth starter.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Tuesday that Gausman's next start is likely to come Friday against the Mets, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Easton Lucas is tentatively lined up to start Wednesday against the Nationals in place of Max Scherzer (thumb), as long as Lucas not needed in relief Tuesday. Gausman would be pitching on seven days' rest if he does indeed take the ball Friday.

Scherzer has been given a cortisone injection in his injured right thumb, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The hope is that the injection will help reduce inflammation and discomfort in the thumb. Scherzer was placed on the 15-day injured list over the weekend, and when he will resume throwing will be determined based on how the thumb responds to rest and the injection.

Rodriguez will Saturday against the Reds, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Rodriguez coughed up four runs on six hits and one walk over four innings Monday against the Royals in his first start in the majors since 2022. The Brewers are in a tough spot as they navigate multiple injuries in their rotation, so they will give Rodriguez at least one more opportunity.
