Smith (4-7) earned the win over Kansas City on Monday, allowing one hit and one walk with three strikeouts over seven scoreless innings.

Chicago staked Smith to a 3-0 lead through one frame, and the rookie right-hander rolled with it in arguably his most impressive start of the campaign. Smith was very efficient in needing just 80 pitches (54 strikes) to get through the seven innings, and the only hit he allowed was a Mike Yastrzemski double in the third. The outstanding effort allowed Smith to snap a nine-game winless stretch, a span in which he struggled to a 7.22 ERA and 0-4 record over 38.2 frames. Monday also marked Smith's first quality start since his previous victory, which came June 10 against Houston.

Sheehan (5-2) allowed two hits and one walk while striking out 10 over seven shutout innings to earn the win Monday over the Reds.

Sheehan had his best start of the season and picked up a win for the third time over four outings in August. The 10 strikeouts were a season high, and this was the first time he's posted a scoreless line this year. He's now at a 3.56 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 54:16 K:BB through 48 innings over 10 appearances (eight starts). Sheehan is lined up for a favorable road start in Pittsburgh next week.

Greene (5-4) allowed five runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out three over five-plus innings to take the loss versus the Dodgers on Monday.

Greene served up a pair of home runs to Andy Pages, which accounted for the first three runs. In the sixth, Greene put two runners on base before his exit, and they both came around to score after an error. While far from his best work, Greene can't be blamed for this loss when the Reds' offense was limited to three hits and three walks. He's at a 2.81 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 94:16 K:BB over 77 innings across 14 starts this season. Greene has allowed eight runs (six earned) with a 21:2 K:BB over 17.1 innings since returning from a groin injury. He is projected to make his next start at home versus the Blue Jays.

Skubal (11-4) allowed six runs (one earned) on seven hits and struck out 12 without walking a batter over 6.2 innings to take the loss versus the Athletics on Monday.

Skubal didn't give up a run until the sixth inning, when he allowed one on a Jacob Wilson groundout. He stayed in to begin the seventh, and that proved to be a mistake, as Colby Thomas hit a solo shot and Shea Langeliers added a grand slam, although most of the damage to his ERA was mitigated by a Zach McKinstry error. This is just the fourth time all year that Skubal's given up multiple homers, though two of them have come in August. He's allowed 16 runs (11 earned) across 32.1 innings through five starts this month, which is an unusual stretch of middling performance for the dominant southpaw. On the bright side, he reached a double-digit total in strikeouts for the 10th time in 26 starts. Skubal still has a 2.28 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 212:25 K:BB through 166 innings this season. He'll look to bounce back this weekend in a road start versus the Royals.

Ginn allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out eight over 5.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Tigers on Monday.

Ginn matched zeroes with Tarik Skubal through five innings, but the Tigers struck first with three runs in the sixth. The Athletics were able to bounce back, getting Ginn off the hook after a fine but unremarkable performance. He's had mixed results since returning to the rotation in late July, allowing 19 runs (18 earned) over 32.1 innings with a 33:12 K:BB across his last seven outings. Overall, he has a 4.96 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 74:21 K:BB through 65.1 innings over 18 appearances (11 starts) this season. Injuries are piling up among the Athletics' starters, so Ginn can be penciled in for a home start versus the Rangers this weekend.

Rodriguez (5-8) took the loss against the Brewers on Monday, allowing five runs on six hits and one walk while striking out one over 2.1 innings.

The left-hander looked sharp early, retiring his first six batters, but the wheels came off in the third when the first seven Milwaukee hitters he faced reached safely. Christian Yelich delivered a bases-loaded single to drive in two runs in the inning, and Rodriguez was lifted shortly after, recording his shortest outing of the season. The veteran has now surrendered at least four earned runs in six of his last 10 starts and will take his 5.67 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 116:47 K:BB into his next scheduled start against the Dodgers, who are batting .257 versus left-handers in the second half.

Sears allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk while striking out two over 3.2 innings in a no-decision Monday versus the Mariners.

Sears gave up a pair of home runs in a lackluster start, which saw him throw just 58 pitches (37 strikes). He's been inconsistent over three stars with the Padres, allowing 10 runs (nine earned) over 14.2 innings since he was acquired from the Athletics. The southpaw has a 5.01 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 105:32 K:BB through 125.2 innings over 25 starts this season. If Michael King (knee) is ready to return during this weekend's series in Minnesota, Sears could be optioned out or moved to the bullpen.

Woodruff (5-1) earned the win against Arizona on Monday, giving up five runs on five hits and one walk while striking out eight over 5.2 innings.

Woodruff was dominant through the first five frames, allowing just one hit, before everything unraveled in the sixth. The right-hander surrendered five runs in the inning, including a three-run homer to Lourdes Gurriel, and was unable to complete the frame. Despite the rough finish, the 32-year-old still came away with the victory and now owns a 3.10 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 63:12 K:BB across 49.1 innings this season.

Miller (3-5) allowed four runs on six hits and a walk while striking out four over five innings to earn the win over the Padres on Monday.

Miller had a terrible second inning, allowing solo shots to Gavin Sheets and Jake Cronenworth and a two-run home run to Fernando Tatis. Other than that, Miller turned in a passable start, though he's still shaking off the rust after missing more than two months due to elbow inflammation. He's allowed eight runs over his last 10 innings while posting an 8:3 K:BB in that span. Overall, he has a 5.98 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 47:26 K:BB through 58.2 innings across 12 starts this season. Miller is projected for a road start in Cleveland this weekend.

Sanchez (11-5) took the loss against the Mets on Monday, allowing five runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out four over 5.1 innings.

Sanchez cruised early, holding New York hitless through the first three frames, but ran into trouble, allowing 11 baserunners and five runs over the next 2.1 innings before being lifted. It was the southpaw's shortest outing since May 24 and the first time all season he's allowed five earned runs in a start. Despite Monday's stumble, Sanchez still owns a 2.66 ERA (seventh-best in MLB) along with a 1.13 WHIP and a 173:41 K:BB across 162.1 innings.
