Sproat threw five scoreless innings for Double-A Binghamton on Friday, allowing only two hits and striking out 13 without walking a batter.

The 23-year-old put together the most dominant performance of his pro career to date, and Sproat struck out the final 11 batters he faced. As Ben Weinrib of MLB.com notes, the record for consecutive Ks in a single game at the major-league level is 10, a record shared by Aaron Nola, Corbin Burnes and Hall of Famer Tom Seaver. Sproat has struggled to maintain consistency as the weather has warmed up, but in general his first season at Double-A has been a rousing success as he's produced a 2.45 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 77:15 K:BB through 62.1 innings. Most encouragingly, he's reduced his walk rate from 5.7 BB/9 last year at High-A to a 2.2 BB/9 with Binghamton.

Wicks (oblique) threw live batting practice Friday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Friday marked Wicks' first time facing live hitters since he suffered a Grade 2 right oblique strain in June, and he was able to build up to 29 pitches during his first round of live BP. He will likely need a few more sessions before he heads to the minor leagues on a rehab assignment.

Senzatela (elbow) will throw a simulated inning over the weekend, MLB.com reports.

Senzatela threw a simulated inning Wednesday and rebounded well. If his progress continues, the Rockies plan to send him on a lengthy rehab assignment as his next step.

Marquez (elbow) will throw a bullpen session this weekend and will then be either activated or sent on a rehab assignment, MLB.com reports.

Marquez threw a 34-pitch bullpen session Thursday and mixed in his entire repertoire. He'll likely engage in a similar workout over the weekend and looks to be on track to be back at some point in early-to-mid August.

Stroman (7-6) took the loss Friday, surrendering seven runs on eight hits and a walk over 2.2 innings as the Yankees fell 8-5 to the Blue Jays. He struck out three.

Facing the team he spent the first five-plus seasons of his big-league career with, Stroman got tagged for three runs in the first inning and four more in the third before getting the hook. The veteran right-hander managed to avoid serving up a home run -- the first time he's done so in a Yankee Stadium start since May 3 against the Tigers -- but it was still another rough home outing for Stroman, who has a 5.34 ERA in 59 innings at home this year but a 2.83 ERA in 57.1 innings on the road. He'll try to turn things around in his next outing, which also comes at Yankee Stadium next week against the Angels.

Gordon will be called up from Triple-A Albuquerque to start Saturday's game in San Diego.

The Rockies optioned Gordon to Triple-A on Sunday, but because he had served as the club's 27th man in a doubleheader with the Giants a day earlier, he'll be eligible to rejoin the big club in fewer than 15 days. He looks like he'll hold down the No. 5 spot in the Colorado rotation until German Marquez (elbow) is able to return from the injured list. Gordon has made three starts for the Rockies this season, compiling an 8.80 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 12:2 K:BB in 15.1 innings.

Gausman came away with a no-decision in Friday's 8-5 win over the Yankees, giving up five runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out two.

Two-run homers by Aaron Judge and Anthony Volpe accounted for most of the damage off Gausman, as the 33-year-old right-hander saw his three-start win streak snapped. He exited after 4.2 innings and 93 pitches, and it perhaps shouldn't have been surprising that Gausman would take a step back after he tossed a complete game July 27 against the Rangers, especially considering how inconsistent he's been in 2024. He'll take 4.56 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 119:36 K:BB through 124.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Orioles.

Irvin (8-9) took the loss Friday as the Nationals were downed 8-3 by the Brewers, giving up four runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out four.

The right-hander managed to keep the ball in the park after serving up seven homers over his prior four starts, but it was still another mediocre performance from Irvin. While he tossed 72 of his 110 pitches for strikes, his command within the zone remains shaky, and three of the six hits off him went for extra bases. Over his last five outings, Irvin has stumbled to a 6.43 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB through 28 innings. He'll try to get back on track in his next start, which lines up to come at home next week against the Giants.

Montas (5-8) picked up the win Friday, giving up three runs on nine hits over five innings in an 8-3 victory over the Nationals. He struck out five without walking a batter.

The right-hander was solid in his Milwaukee debut, tossing 58 of 89 pitches for strikes and issuing zero free passes for the first time since he got the Opening Day assignment for Cincinnati on March 28 -- a start which coincidentally also came against Washington. Montas has lasted more than five innings only once in his last five outings, a stretch in which he's stumbled to a 7.27 ERA while serving up seven home runs in 26 innings, and CJ Abrams did tag him for a two-run shot in the third inning Friday. Montas will try to keep the ball in the park, and give his new team some length, when he makes his next trip to the mound on the road next week in Atlanta.

Pfaadt came away with a no-decision in Friday's 9-8 win over the Pirates, giving up three runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out three.

The right-hander ran up his pitch count and fell short of a quality start, exiting after 96 pitches (65 strikes), but Pfaadt still left the mound in line for his sixth win of the year before the Arizona bullpen made a mess of things. After a couple scoreless outings on either side of the All-Star break, Pfaadt has avoided taking a loss in seven straight trips to the mound, posting a 3.10 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 34:6 K:BB through 40.2 innings over that stretch. He'll try to get back in the win column in his next start, which lines up to come on the road next week in Cleveland.
