The Red Sox promoted Rodriguez-Cruz from Single-A Salem to High-A Greenville on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old right-hander excelled in his second go-around at Salem, turning in a 2.51 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 18.8 K-BB% over 61 innings. He'll presumably step into the Greenville rotation along with left-hander Noah Dean, who was also promoted from Salem on Tuesday.

Rodriguez allowed two runs on two hits and a walk while striking out six over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Rays on Wednesday.

Rodriguez retired the first 12 batters he faced, but he allowed two hits and a run in the fifth inning. His walk in the sixth inning also came around to score the tying run after Brendon Little couldn't work out of trouble, denying Rodriguez a chance at his second win of the campaign. The 27-year-old right-hander has gone at least five innings in three of his last four starts as he begins to get more comfortable in the majors. For the year, he has a 3.69 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 42:19 K:BB through 39 innings over nine starts. Rodriguez's next outing is projected to be a tough road start in Baltimore.

Schmidt (lat) is scheduled to throw another bullpen session Saturday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Schmidt reportedly responded well after tossing a bullpen session of about 20-to-25 pitches Tuesday, and he'll get back on the mound again this weekend, when he'll presumably increase the volume and the intensity of his throwing. According to Phillips, Schmidt said he plans on throwing one more bullpen session after Saturday's before the Yankees decide on his next steps, which could include facing hitters in live batting practice. Though Schmidt is trending in the right direction in his recovery from a right lat strain, the Yankees still aren't counting on him to return from the injured list until around late August.

Gray (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery and an internal brace procedure Wednesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Gray's operation rules him out for the remainder of the 2024 campaign, and he'll likely be forced to miss most of 2025 as well. The 26-year-old righty will finish the season with 13 earned runs allowed over 8.1 innings across two starts.

Perez (2-5) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-0 victory over the Cardinals, allowing four hits and five walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out two.

The veteran lefty wasn't exactly sharp as he tossed only 51 of 91 pitches for strikes and set a new season high in walks, but Perez was able to avoid hard contact and keep the Cards off the board. It's his first win since April 4, and it was a much-needed bounce-back effort after he got tagged for 11 runs in 8.1 innings over his prior two outings. Perez will take a 5.20 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 63:32 K:BB through 83 innings on the year into his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Houston.

Flaherty allowed an unearned run on three hits and two walks across six innings and did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Guardians. He struck out six.

In what was possibly his last start for Detroit, Flaherty made sure to leave a good impression. The righty lowered his season ERA to 2.95 and allowed zero earned runs for the fifth time this year. Flaherty is on a one-year deal, which has naturally made him a much-discussed trade candidate with the Tigers sitting at 50-53. He is currently penciled in to take the mound again Monday against the Guardians once more, but with the trade deadline on Tuesday, it remains to be seen if the 28-year-old will still be with the team by the time his next turn in the rotation comes around. If Flaherty is dealt, he should remain a strong fantasy asset given his performance so far this season.

Bibee was removed from Wednesday's game versus Detroit due to lower-extremity cramping, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Most of the attention seemed to be on Bibee's right knee while trainers examined him on the mound, but it appears he managed to avoid a significant injury. The Guardians will presumably keep an eye on him over the next few days, though it seems there is a strong chance he'll be able to make his next scheduled start against the Tigers.

Buehler (hip) said Wednesday that he will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Buehler added that he felt good following his bullpen session Tuesday, so he will now advance to facing minor-league hitters. The plan is for the 29-year-old right-hander to rejoin the Dodgers' rotation once he's made two rehab starts in Triple-A, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, putting Buehler in line to return sometime during the Dodgers' early-August series against the Phillies.

Montas came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 9-4 win over Atlanta, giving up four runs on 10 hits and three walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out six.

The Reds scored four times in the top of the first inning and all the scoring in the game was done by the fourth, but Montas wasn't efficient enough to qualify for the win, getting the hook after 101 pitches (68 strikes). The right-hander has been tagged for at least four runs in three straight outings, a stretch that has seen his ERA rise from 4.19 to 5.01, and he's issued multiple free passes in five straight starts and nine of his last 10. He'll try to turn things around in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Cubs.

The Dodgers optioned Knack to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

Knack has posted a 3.47 ERA and 1.07 WHIP while striking out 26 batters in 23.1 innings since joining the Dodgers on June 21, but he will head back to the minors following the returns of Tyler Glasnow (back) and Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) from the injured list this week. Should Knack continue to pitch effectively in the minors, he could still be called upon to re-enter the Dodgers rotation if injuries continue to test the big club's starting pitching depth.
