Cobb (hip/shoulder) struck out three and allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks over 3.1 innings in his rehab start Monday in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Through four rehab outings between the ACL and Single-A San Jose, Cobb has posted a so-so 3.97 ERA and 1.24 WHIP but a strong 16:4 K:BB across 11.1 innings. Cobb is likely to move his minor-league assignment back to San Jose or another higher-level affiliate this weekend, and he may need just two rehab starts to get stretched out enough to the point that the Giants would consider activating him from the 60-day injured list. Cobb opened the season on the IL while he completed his recovery from offseason hip surgery, then had his rehab program slowed down in April and May due to a shoulder issue.

Mahle (elbow) struck out five and allowed one hit and one walk over 2.2 scoreless innings during his rehab start Monday in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Mahle had made his previous two rehab starts at Double-A Frisco, but he shifted his assignment to the ACL this week while all of the Rangers' full-season affiliates are off due to the All-Star break. The right-hander has looked strong thus far in his first three minor-league outings coming back from his May 2023 Tommy John surgery. He has yet to let in a run over 6.2 innings and built his pitch count up to 45 on Monday. Mahle will likely shift his assignment back to a higher-level affiliate over the weekend and will presumably need at least two or three more minor-league outings to get fully stretched out before he becomes a realistic option for the Rangers' rotation.

Ynoa (elbow) failed to record a strikeout and gave up one earned run on two hits and no walks over two innings in his rehab outing Tuesday in the rookie-level Florida Complex League.

Ynoa's appearance Tuesday was his first at any level since April 14, as he's been on the mend from a right elbow stress reaction for the past three months. He'll likely require the entire 30-day rehab window to get fully stretched out before he's activated from the 60-day injured list, at which point Atlanta will likely option him to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Triple-A Indianapolis placed Ashcraft on its 7-day injured list July 6 with an unspecified injury.

Ashcraft had previously been placed on Indianapolis' IL on June 28 before being activated July 6, but it's unclear if his latest injury is related to the previous one or a new concern. While the IL stints in quick succession certainly aren't ideal, Ashcraft has otherwise continued to excel when he's been able to take the mound. Over his last 10 outings between Indianapolis and Double-A Altoona, Aschraft has rung up a 1.39 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 59:10 K:BB in 51.2 innings.

Triple-A Indianapolis reinstated Burrows (elbow) from its 60-day injured list Tuesday and assigned him to the rookie-level Florida Complex League.

Burrows had been on the shelf all season while he completed his recovery from April 2023 Tommy John surgery. He began a rehab assignment in the FCL on June 17 and later moved on to Single-A Bradenton, posting a 7.36 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 11:7 K:BB in 11 innings across his five rehab starts. Though Burrows appears to be fully healthy again, the Pirates will have him stick around in Florida a little longer to iron out the kinks before he's deemed ready to reclaim a spot in the Triple-A rotation.

Cavalli (elbow/illness) had been scheduled to report this week to the Nationals' spring training facility in West Palm Beach, Fla. to continue his rehab program, MLB.com repoorts.

On the mend from Tommy John surgery, Cavalli began his second rehab assignment June 21 with High-A Wilmington, but he hasn't pitched since then after coming down with the flu. Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reported July 3 that Cavalli's rehab assignment had been shut down, but the Nationals haven't provided any word that the right-hander is dealing with a setback with his elbow. Since it has been almost four weeks since Cavalli last pitched, he will need to time to get stretched back out whenever he's cleared to resume his rehab assignment, so a return from the 60-day injured list doesn't seem imminent. He turned in a 2.16 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 13 strikeouts in 8.1 innings across his first three rehab appearances.

The Pirates released German on Tuesday.

Per Robert Murray of FanSided.com, German exercised an opt-out clause in his minor-league contract. German had made 11 starts between Single-A Bradenton and Triple-A Indianapolis, posting a 5.36 ERA and 48:28 K:BB over 50.1 innings in 10 appearances at the latter stop. The 31-year-old holds a career 4.41 ERA over parts of six major-league seasons and is now free to sign with another organization. Murray notes that the Pirates are open to re-signing the righty.

Boyd (elbow) began a rehab assignment Tuesday in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, covering three innings and striking out seven while allowing an unearned run on three hits and one walk.

Boyd signed a one-year contract with the Guardians last month and was immediately placed on the 15-day injured list as he continues to work his way back from June 2023 Tommy John surgery. The veteran southpaw will probably need most, if not all, of his allotted 30-day rehab window to get stretched back out, putting him on track for activation around mid-August if all goes well.

The Twins have promoted Matthews from Double-A Wichita to Triple-A St. Paul, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

It will be his third level this season following a dominating run between Wichita and High-A Cedar Rapids that saw him post a 1.85 ERA and 91:6 K:BB over 78 innings. The 24-year-old has emerged as one of the Twins' better pitching prospects.

The Astros pulled Garcia (elbow) off his minor-league rehab assignment this week, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Making his way back from May 2023 Tommy John surgery, Garcia made his first rehab start June 28 in the rookie-level Florida Complex League and his second July 4 with Double-A Corpus Christi. He didn't bounce back well from his start with Corpus Christi and hadn't throw a bullpen session since the outing, with the Astros having limited him to playing catch. While Garcia doesn't seem to be dealing with a major setback, he'll have to restart a 30-day rehab window once the team feels he's ready for game action. Clearly, a return from the 60-day injured list won't be in the forecast anytime soon for Garcia.
