Fried (7-4) allowed five runs on 11 hits and a walk over six innings Friday, striking out four and taking a loss against the Phillies.

Fried worked through three scoreless frames before beginning to unravel. He gave up three runs in the fourth inning and two more in the sixth. Of the five runs he allowed, four came via a pair of two-run shots from Trea Turner. Fried had given up just three runs over his previous three starts but saw his season ERA jump from 2.91 to 3.18 after Friday's hiccup. His next start is lined up to be in Arizona.

The Diamondbacks are expected to call up Diaz from Triple-A Reno to start Monday's game against Atlanta, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Regarded as one of the top pitching prospects in Arizona's farm system, Diaz earned a promotion June 11 to Reno, where he's posted a 3.27 ERA and 1.23 WHIP alongside a 28:9 K:BB over 22 innings across four starts. Monday would mark the 23-year-old's MLB debut, though he would likely be sent back to Reno following his start against Atlanta.

Severino (5-3) took the loss against the Pirates on Friday, allowing seven runs on nine hits and two walks with three strikeouts over six innings.

Severino surrendered four runs on three homers between the fourth and fifth innings. He was pulled after loading the bases to open the seventh, and all three of those runners scored on a grand slam after his departure. Severino yielded nine hard-hit balls Friday and has allowed six long balls and 17 earned runs over his past four outings. On the season, the 30-year-old owns a 3.83 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 77:34 K:BB over 103.1 innings. He lines up for a home matchup with the Nationals next week.

Skenes (5-0) earned the win against the Mets on Friday, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over seven innings.

Skenes surrendered a solo home run in the third inning and another run in the fourth but was otherwise fantastic. According to The Athletic, he is the first pitcher in major-league history to record seven or more strikeouts in nine of his first 10 career starts. The rookie has not lost a game this season and owns a 2.12 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 78:12 K:BB over 59.1 innings. He lines up for a road matchup with the Brewers next week.

Manager Torey Lovullo said Friday that Montgomery (knee) will begin throwing off flat ground Saturday, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Lovullo noted that Montgomery is still dealing with a bit of inflammation in his right knee, but the team believes he'll be in good enough condition to throw. Assuming all goes well Saturday, the 31-year-old southpaw will likely be given the green light to begin throwing off a mound within the next several days.

Hall (knee) will make one more rehab start with Triple-A Nashville, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Hall's latest rehab start in Triple-A was cut short after three innings due to a rain delay, preventing him reaching his target number of innings. He'll remain in the minors for another turn through the rotation as a result, lowering his chances of rejoining the Brewers ahead of the All-Star break. It remains unclear whether the 25-year-old southpaw will be added to Milwaukee's rotation or head to the bullpen once he returns.

The Dodgers will call up Wrobleski from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start Sunday's game versus the Brewers, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Wrobleski was promoted to Triple-A in mid-June after posting a 3.06 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 67.2 innings with Double-A Tulsa. He's given up five earned runs in 10.1 frames since reporting to Oklahoma City, and he's now slated to make his MLB debut in a spot start Sunday in order to give the rest of Los Angeles' rotation an extra day of rest. The 23-year-old southpaw will be matched up against a Brewers offense that ranks seventh in the majors in runs scored (422) and 10th in OPS (.732).

Hancock, who is with the Mariners' taxi squad, is slated to start Saturday against the Blue Jays, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

In his last start in the majors, Hancock allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out one over seven innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on June 13. He has a 4.79 ERA and 1.28 WHIP over eight major-league starts this season. Hancock's spot start Saturday gives the Mariners' rotation extra rest while Bryan Woo (hamstring) begins his rehab assignment with High-A Everett over the weekend.

The Yankees transferred Brubaker's (elbow) rehab assignment to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

Brubaker made one appearance with Double-A Somerset and will continue his rehab at Triple-A. The 30-year-old has been recovering from Tommy John surgery since April of 2023 and is approaching a return to big-league action. It's unclear how many outings Brubaker will need at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but it's likely he'll be back sometime in July.

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Friday that Paddack (arm) is doing well in his rehab program and is expected to return from the 15-day injured list to start Monday's series opener against the White Sox, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Paddack landed on the IL on June 25 due to right forearm fatigue, a possible side effect of the 28-year-old pitching in a full season for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery in May 2022. After responding well to his recent throwing sessions, Paddack looks like he'll be ready to come off the IL without having made a rehab start before hand. If he does make it back Monday, he'll face a White Sox team that ranks 29th this season in both batting average (.221) and OPS (.632).
