Manoah (1-2) took the loss Friday against the Tigers, allowing six runs (four earned) on five hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.

It was a tough outing for Manoah, who hadn't allowed an earned run over 14 innings in his previous two starts. Still, the 26-year-old right-hander has gotten off to a solid start in 2024, pitching to a 3.97 ERA with a 1.06 WHIP and 23:8 K:BB through 22.2 innings after struggling to a 5.87 ERA in 19 starts last year. Manoah will look to get back on track in his next outing, currently lined up for next week on the road versus the White Sox.

Stripling (1-9) allowed six runs on eight hits and struck out three without walking a batter over 3.2 innings to take the loss Friday versus the Astros.

Stripling was perfect the first time through the order, but the Astros responded with six runs in the fourth inning, capped off by a three-run Jake Meyers homer run. This was Stripling's fourth straight loss, and he's allowed 24 runs (17 earned) over 15.1 innings in that span. The veteran right-hander has a 5.82 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 35:12 K:BB over 55.2 innings across 11 starts this season. Stripling's poor performance hasn't cost him a rotation spot yet, but Kyle Muller tossed four scoreless innings in relief Friday and has past experience as a starter if the Athletics opt to mix things up. Stripling is tentatively projected to make his next appearance on the road versus the Rays.

Verlander (3-2) allowed two runs (one earned) on eight hits and struck out nine without walking a batter Friday to earn the win over the Athletics.

Verlander has alternated quality starts with shorter outings over his seven outings this season, and this was one of his good ones. The nine strikeouts were a season high, and it was just the second time he hasn't walked a batter this year. The 41-year-old has a 3.60 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB through 40 innings. Verlander is projected to make his next start in Seattle.

Allen (6-3) earned the win Friday against the Angels, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out seven.

Allen collected his third consecutive win with his effort in Anaheim. Over those three starts, the Guardians lefty has a 1.53 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB in 17.2 innings. Overall, he owns a 4.89 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 50:18 K:BB in 57 innings. Allen will look to keep his winning ways rolling in his next start, which is scheduled to come in Colorado.

Sandoval (2-7) took the loss Friday against Cleveland, allowing eight runs on six hits and four walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out four.

Sandoval took a beating as he yielded a career-high three homers in the outing. The 27-year-old lefty also struggled with his command, issuing four walks for the first time since a seven-run, four-inning disaster in Cincinnati on April 20. Overall, the Angels starter sports a 5.60 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 57:24 K:BB in 54.2 innings. Sandoval gets no reprieve in his next start, which is currently scheduled to come at home against the scorching hot Yankees.

Rodon (6-2) earned the win Friday over the Padres, pitching six shutout innings while allowing three hits and three walks with two strikeouts.

Rodon wasn't dominant, but the Padres' offense didn't find much success. This was a fourth straight quality start for the southpaw, who has won all of those outings while allowing just five runs over 24.1 innings. Rodon has had just one bad start this season -- May 2 in Baltimore, when he got tagged for six earned runs over four innings. He has a 2.95 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 57:19 K:BB over 61 innings through 11 starts on the season. The 31-year-old is projected to make his next start on the road versus the Angels in a favorable matchup.

Darvish (4-2) allowed seven runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out five over 5.2 innings Friday, taking the loss versus the Yankees.

Darvish was done in by the long ball -- the Yankees teed off for four home runs against him, three of which came in the third inning. Prior to Friday, Darvish had allowed just two homers across his first nine starts of the season. It was a jarring end to his 24-inning scoreless streak, which coincided with a four-start winning streak. Even after this dud, the right-hander has a 3.04 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 51:14 K:BB over 53.1 innings across 10 starts. Darvish will look to keep the ball in the yard in his next start, which is tentatively projected to come at home versus the Marlins.

Ober (5-2) allowed two runs on four hits and three walks over five innings Friday, striking out five and earning a win over Texas.

Ober coughed up a two-run shot to Corey Seager in the first inning but settled in for a solid outing after that. Despite striking out just five batters, Ober forced a season-high 16 whiffs, including seven with his changeup. He's generated at least 12 swinging strikes in six of his last seven starts. He owns a 4.33 ERA through 10 starts and a 3.02 ERA over his last nine. Ober's next outing is expected to come at home against the Royals.

Urquidy exited his rehab start at Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday due to right forearm discomfort, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Urquidy has been sidelined since spring training due to a strained right forearm, and he seems to have aggravated the issue during his outing Friday. The right-hander was expected to return to the Astros' rotation after Friday's start, but it's unclear how his latest flareup may impact his return timeline.

Garrett (1-0) allowed four hits and struck out six while walking none, tossing a complete-game shutout to earn the win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Garrett had the best start of his career, throwing just 95 pitches (71 strikes) over his nine innings Friday. He began the year on the injured list with a shoulder injury and allowed 11 runs in 9.2 innings over his first two starts before this gem. Garrett has a 5.30 ERA on the year, but his 1.02 WHIP and 19:3 K:BB across 18.2 innings paint a much more encouraging picture. The 2016 first-rounder is projected for a road start versus the Padres his next time out.
