  • Kolby Allard RP | CLE

Kolby Allard: Heading out of Atlanta

Allard was non-tendered by Atlanta on Friday, MLB.com reports.

He didn't pitch after July 16 due to left shoulder nerve inflammation. Allard was limited to 19 total innings between Triple-A and the majors in 2023. He has a career 6.10 ERA in 245 MLB innings.

  • Osvaldo Bido RP | CHW

    Osvaldo Bido: Dumped by Pittsburgh

Bido was non-tendered by the Pirates on Friday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

    Bido posted a less-than-promising 5.86 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 48:21 K:BB over his first 50.2 big-league innings in 2023. The 28-year-old right-hander is now a free agent.

  • Spencer Turnbull: Non-tendered by Tigers

Turnbull became a free agent Friday after being non-tendered by the Tigers.

Turnbull posted a rough 7.26 ERA over 31 innings this season in the majors and wasn't much better at Triple-A. The 31-year-old right-hander will aim to revive his career in a new locale, assuming the Tigers don't bring him back on a new (cheaper) deal. He'd been projected to earn around $2.4 million in 2024 via salary arbitration.

  • Jake Woodford: Hits free agency

Woodford was non-tendered by the Cardinals on Friday.

Woodford, 27, will head into free agency after registering a rough 6.23 ERA and 29:22 K:BB over 47.2 innings (eight starts, seven relief appearances) this past season with St. Louis.

  • Dakota Hudson SP | LAA

Dakota Hudson: Dumped by St. Louis

Hudson became a free agent Friday after being non-tendered by the Cardinals.

Hudson posted a 3.14 ERA over his first 249.2 major-league innings between 2018-21, but he's struggled to a 4.64 ERA in 221 innings since the beginning of the 2022 campaign while continuing to show diminishing fastball velocity. The 29-year-old right-hander had been projected to make about $3.7 million in 2024 via salary arbitration.

  • Kyle Wright SP | CHC

Royals' Kyle Wright: Traded to Kansas City

Kansas City acquired Wright (shoulder) from Atlanta on Friday in exchange for Jackson Kowar, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Wright has already been ruled out for the entire 2024 season after requiring surgery last month to repair a torn capsule in his right shoulder. He won 21 games in 2022, though, and makes sense as a reclamation project for a Royals team that is hoping to eventually shift out of rebuilding mode.

  • Brandon Woodruff: Non-tendered by Milwaukee

Woodruff (shoulder) became a free agent Friday after being non-tendered by the Brewers, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Woodruff is expected to miss the entire 2024 campaign following October surgery to repair the anterior capsule in his right shoulder. He's been a true ace when healthy, but Milwaukee couldn't justify paying his salary -- projected at around $11.6 million in his final year of arbitration -- while he potentially spends all of next season in rehab mode.

  • Jared Shuster RP | STL

White Sox's Jared Shuster: In running for rotation spot

White Sox general manager Chris Getz said Friday that he expects one or both of Shuster and Michael Soroka (forearm) to open 2024 in the rotation, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

Both pitchers were acquired from Atlanta on Thursday as the White Sox look to stock up on some much-needed rotation depth. Getz did say that he's not done in seeking starting pitching additions this winter, but as it stands right now Shuster and Soroka would each seem to have a good shot at a prominent role. Shuster held an ugly 5.81 ERA and 30:26 K:BB across 52.2 innings for Atlanta in 2023, but he's just 25 and was a first-round pick in 2020.

  • Mike Soroka SP | ARI

White Sox's Michael Soroka: Path to rotation spot

White Sox general manager Chris Getz said Friday that he expects one or both of Soroka (forearm) and Jared Shuster to open 2024 in the rotation, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

Both players were acquired from Atlanta on Thursday in a deal which sent reliever Aaron Bummer the other way. The White Sox' rotation looks like one of the easiest to crack right now and the path would be further cleared if Dylan Cease is traded. Getz did note that he plans to acquire additional pitching help this winter, but Soroka has an early leg up for a spot as he tries to reestablish himself in his new surroundings. The right-hander ended the 2023 season on the injured list with forearm inflammation, but he could be ready for the start of spring training.

  • Cal Quantrill RP | TEX

Rockies' Cal Quantrill: Acquired by Rockies via trade

The Rockies acquired Quantrill from the Guardians in exchange for Kody Huff on Friday.

Quantrill had been designated for assignment by Cleveland earlier in the week but quickly landed in another organization, and he should slide right into Colorado's rotation. The 28-year-old right-hander posted a 5.24 ERA and 58:35 K:BB over 99.2 innings in 2023 but boasted a career 3.54 ERA coming into last season. Quantrill is a sensible addition by the Rockies, but landing in Colorado virtually eliminates whatever fantasy appeal he might have had in 2024.
