Zack Greinke SP | KC
Royals' Zack Greinke: Drops to 1-13
Greinke (1-13) took the loss against Pittsburgh on Monday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two batters over 4.2 innings.
Greinke came out of the bullpen in a bulk-relief role his last time out due to the fact he was coming off an IL stint with an elbow injury and didn't log any rehab appearances. The veteran was back working as a traditional starter Monday, though he may have still been moderately limited since he threw only 76 pitches. Greinke didn't pitch particularly poorly, giving up just two runs over his 4.2 frames, but he was still tagged with the loss since the Royals were shut out by Pirates starter Johan Oviedo. It's been a rough campaign for Greinke in his 19th big-league season -- he's tied for second in the league with 13 losses (only teammate Jordan Lyles has more) and has picked up only one victory while registering a poor 5.28 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over 119.1 innings.

Johan Oviedo SP | BOS
Pirates' Johan Oviedo: Hurls first career shutout
Oviedo (8-13) notched the win over Kansas City on Monday, allowing two hits and two walks in a complete game shutout. He struck out five batters.
Oviedo had been up-and-down of late, and he had failed to go more than five frames in any of his previous three starts. The right-hander went plenty deep Monday, recording his first career complete game and shutout. Oviedo needed a career-high 112 pitches to complete the contest, though he kept up his velocity throughout and retired the final 11 batters he faced to finish with a flourish. His 4.20 ERA and 1.28 WHIP on the campaign are hardly fantasy gold, though he's put up better numbers in August with a 2.92 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over 37 innings covering six starts.

Jameson Taillon SP | TOR
Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Falters in ninth loss
Taillon (7-9) took the loss against Milwaukee on Monday, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits and no walks while striking out six batters over six innings.
Taillon got blitzed by the Brewers in the first frame, serving up a pair of homers -- including a leadoff shot by Christian Yelich on his third pitch of the game -- and four runs overall. He was better after that, giving up just an unearned run and five hits the rest of the way, but the initial inning was too much for the Cubs to overcome. Taillon has dropped three of his past four outings, posting a 7.84 ERA over 20.2 frames during that span. The poor stretch comes immediately after an impressive six-game run during which he went 5-0 with a 2.17 ERA across 37.1 innings.

Wade Miley SP | CIN
Brewers' Wade Miley: Picks up win with quality start
Miley (7-3) earned the win over the Cubs on Monday, allowing two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out one batter over six innings.
Miley served up a pair of homers in the contest, but they were both solo shots, and those were the only runs Chicago could manage against him. The left-hander got the job done by getting 11 of his 18 outs via grounders, making up for the fact that he tallied just four swinging strikes and one punchout. Miley's quality start was his eighth in 18 outings this season, and he's compiled a strong 3.17 ERA and 1.14 WHIP despite fanning just 60 batters over 93.2 frames.

Zac Gallen SP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen: Stumbles versus Dodgers
Gallen (14-6) allowed six runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out three over 5.1 innings to take the loss Monday versus the Dodgers.
Gallen was tagged for four homers in this contest after giving up just two long balls across his last five starts combined. He also allowed just seven runs across 31.1 innings in that span before nearly matching it in this dud of an outing. The right-hander is now at a 3.32 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP and 182:37 K:BB through 173.1 innings over 28 starts on the year. Given the quality of the opponent, it's fair to write this off as a bump in the road. Gallen is projected to make his next start at home versus another challenging foe in the Orioles this weekend.

Bobby Miller RP | LAD
Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Gives up four runs in win
Miller (8-3) allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings to earn the win Monday over the Diamondbacks.
Miller wasn't at his best, throwing 58 of 86 pitches for strikes in the outing, but the Dodgers' offense gave him enough support to get the win. The rookie right-hander received an extra day of rest between starts after throwing 97 pitches in a loss to the Guardians in his previous outing. He's still holding his own overall, ending August with 11 runs allowed (10 earned) over 28 innings. For the year, Miller has a 4.00 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 79:25 K:BB through 87.2 innings across 16 starts. He's projected for an intimidating home start against Atlanta this weekend.

Kyle Muller SP | ATH
Athletics' Kyle Muller: Touched up for six runs
Muller (1-5) allowed six runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out six over four innings, taking the loss Monday versus the Mariners.
Muller couldn't cool the Mariners' hot bats, instead suffering one of his worst outings of the year. This was just the second time he's given up multiple homers in a game this season, and the six runs allowed matched his season high. Muller is now at a 7.67 ERA, 1.96 WHIP and 49:33 K:BB through 63.1 innings over 14 appearances (12 starts). The Athletics' rotation is likely to remain a bit beat up into September, but it's unclear if that will be enough to earn Muller another start with Mason Miller (elbow) potentially available by the weekend if his rehab outing Tuesday goes smoothly.

David Festa P | MIN
Twins' David Festa: Promoted to Triple-A
Festa was promoted to Triple-A Rochester on Monday, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Festa had a 4.39 ERA at Double-A Wichita but had a strong 11.7 K/BB and 3.11 FIP. He's one of Minnesota's top pitching prospects, so a strong final few starts at Triple-A could put him on the cusp of competing for a big-league job next spring.

Bryan Woo SP | SEA
Mariners' Bryan Woo: Looks good against Oakland
Woo (2-3) allowed three hits and a walk while striking out five over six shutout innings to earn the win Monday over the Athletics.
Woo earned his fourth quality start of the year, including his second in three outings, with this gem. The right-hander was efficient in throwing 45 of 69 pitches for strikes. He's at a 4.15 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 68:19 K:BB through 65 innings over 13 starts this season. The Mariners may take it easy with Woo down the stretch, though it's unknown if they have the rookie on a pitch count from start-to-start or an innings limit for the season. He's tentatively lined up to make his next start on the road versus the Mets this weekend.

Kyle Harrison SP | MIL
Giants' Kyle Harrison: Strikes out 11 in win
Harrison (1-0) allowed three hits and two walks while striking out 11 over 6.1 scoreless innings to earn the win in Monday's 4-1 victory over the Reds.
Harrison fared respectably in his MLB debut in Philadelphia last Tuesday, but he was dazzling in his home debut against a formidable lineup. He allowed just two runners to get into scoring position on his watch. Harrison has a 16:3 K:BB over 9.2 major-league innings and should be able to stick in a Giants rotation that has only two other full-time starters (Logan Webb and Alex Cobb). The rookie is tentatively projected for a road start in San Diego this weekend.
