Alec Marsh RP | KC
Royals' Alec Marsh: Working behind opener Wednesday
Marsh will serve as the Royals' bulk reliever behind opener James McArthur in Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Marsh will enter the game behind an opener for his second straight turn through the rotation after he turned in quality results his last time out Thursday in Boston. Though he ultimately took the loss to drop to 0-6 on the season, Marsh limited the Red Sox to two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings.

Ben Lively SP | CLE
Reds' Ben Lively: Next rehab start coming Friday
Lively (pectoral) is scheduled to make a second rehab start Friday for Triple-A Louisville, MLB.com reports.
Lively was expected to throw 85 pitches during his first rehab start Sunday but lasted just 32 pitches, allowing six runs in two-thirds of an inning. This is Lively's second stint on the injured list due to a pectoral strain.

Ross Stripling SP | KC
Giants' Ross Stripling: Likely to follow behind opener
Stripling is expected to serve as a bulk reliever behind opening pitcher Ryan Walker in Wednesday's game against the Rays, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
The Giants have been relying on just two full-time starters (Logan Webb and Alex Cobb) of late, but Stripling still appears to be a de facto member of the rotation. Stripling's most recent appearance came out of the bullpen Friday, when he tossed five innings and gave up two runs en route to taking a loss against Texas. Assuming he's called upon to work behind Walker, Stripling will be the Giants pitcher most likely to factor into the decision Wednesday.

Bailey Ober SP | MIN
Twins' Bailey Ober: Adequate in no-decision
Ober did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over five innings against the Tigers. He struck out six.
Ober scattered five hits but issued three walks, which tied a season high. The 28-year-old allowed two runs, both of which came on Miguel Cabrera's 509th career home run in the second inning. After a stellar first half, Ober has struggled in his six starts since the All-Star break, posting a 5.52 ERA and 1.55 WHIP despite an impressive 34:4 K:BB across 31 innings during that span. He is currently lined up to face the Brewers on the road early next week.

Zach Davies SP | WAS
Diamondbacks' Zach Davies: Makes second rehab start
Davies (back) allowed seven runs on 11 hits and one walk while striking out two over three innings for Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.
Davies made his second rehab start in advance of what could be an activation this weekend. The organization seemed intent on having the right-hander up his pitch count regardless of the results. He threw 80 pitches and appears to be stretched out enough to rejoin the club and start Sunday, if the Diamondbacks choose to keep in the rotation. Davies has a 7.38 ERA over 12 starts.

Bryce Elder SP | ATL
Braves' Bryce Elder: Blanks Yanks for ninth win
Elder (9-4) picked up the win in Tuesday's 5-0 victory over the Yankees, scattering one hit and three walks over seven scoreless innings. He struck out three.
What few baserunners Elder allowed got erased by double plays, and only one Yankee even reached second base while the right-hander was on the mound. It was an impressive rebound after the 24-year-old coughed up 12 runs (10 earned) over his prior two outings, but since the beginning of July, Elder still carries a 5.79 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 21:17 K:BB through 42 innings. He'll look to stay on track in his next start, which is likely to come at home early next week against the Mets.

Luis Severino SP | ATH
Yankees' Luis Severino: Struggles continue Tuesday
Severino (2-8) took the loss Tuesday, coughing up five runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks over four innings as the Yankees fell 5-0 to Atlanta. He struck out five.
There were signs of progress for the right-hander, who generated 27 called or swinging strikes among his 83 pitches, but Severino still lost his fourth straight start while getting tagged for at least five runs in his third straight outing. He's managed only one quality start in eight trips to the mound since the beginning of July with a ghastly 11.08 ERA, 2.31 WHIP and 29:15 K:BB through 31.2 innings, making the 29-year-old all but unrosterable in fantasy, but the Yankees' lack of healthy alternatives will likely keep him in the rotation. Severino's next start is likely to come at home early next week against the Nationals.

David Peterson SP | CHC
Mets' David Peterson: Can't find plate Tuesday
Peterson escaped with a no-decision Tuesday in the Mets' 7-4 loss to the Pirates, giving up one run on three hits and six walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out five.
The southpaw put runners in scoring position in each of the first three innings but was able to wriggle off the hook each time, and the only damage off Peterson came via a Liover Peguero solo shot to lead off the top of the second. It was still a rough outing for Peterson, who also plunked a batter and got just 48 of his 91 pitches over the plate. Since rejoining the rotation after the trade deadline, he's posted a 2.61 ERA that is far more lucky than good considering his 1.84 WHIP and 11:11 K:BB through 10.1 innings. Until he improves his control, Peterson will be an extremely volatile fantasy option. He's next set to take the mound this weekend in St. Louis.

Bailey Falter RP | ATL
Pirates' Bailey Falter: Best effort yet as Buc
Falter came away with a no-decision Tuesday in the Pirates' 7-4 win over the Mets, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out five.
The lefty put together his best performance in three starts since joining the Pittsburgh rotation, tossing 52 of 82 pitches for strikes and shutting down the New York offense after Brandon Nimmo led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo shot. Falter's 4.05 ERA with his new team isn't supported by his 1.65 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB through 13.1 innings, making him a risky play in his next outing, which is likely to come at home early next week against the Cardinals.

Yusei Kikuchi SP | LAA
Blue Jays' Yusei Kikuchi: Fourth straight quality start
Kikuchi came away with a no-decision Tuesday in the Blue Jays' 2-1 win over the Phillies, allowing one run on four hits over six innings. He struck out seven without walking a batter.
The southpaw delivered his fourth straight quality start on an efficient 84 pitches (58 strikes), but Zack Wheeler was just as sharp for Philadelphia, leaving the bullpens to decide things. Since the All-Star break, Kikuchi has a stellar 1.29 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 36:8 K:BB through 35 innings. He's next set to take the mound on the road early next week against the Orioles.
