  • Dean Kremer SP | MIN

Orioles' Dean Kremer: Adds another victory

Kremer (6-2) earned the win Friday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings against San Francisco. He struck out six.

Kremer had a terrible April, posting a 6.67 ERA, but he has lowered it down to 4.43 with six consecutive starts of at least five innings while allowing three runs or less. With the Orioles' surprising success, Kremer has racked up victories. He is two wins away from his career high of eight. While he is not going to provide elite strikeout numbers, his K/9 has jumped from 6.25 last season to 7.48 in 2023. Kremer is scheduled to face the Brewers in his next start.

  • Logan Webb SP | SF

Giants' Logan Webb: Touched up in loss

Webb (4-6) took the loss Friday, allowing three runs on four hits and one walk over seven innings against Baltimore. He struck out six.

Webb allowed eight home runs in his first 45 innings in 2023. Heading into Friday, he had eliminated the long ball in his previous four starts. Gunnar Henderson's seventh-inning blast snapped Webb's 33-inning stretch without allowing a homer. After winning 15 games and posting a 2.90 ERA in 2022, Webb has actually been better this season. His ERA, WHIP, K/9 and BB/9 are all better in 2023, as the 26-year-old remains a stud at the top of the Giants' rotation.

  • Brad Keller RP | PHI

Royals' Brad Keller: Throws BP session

Keller (shoulder) threw a live BP session Friday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Keller went on the injured list May 19 and resumed mound work a week later. He may need a couple more bullpen or batting practice sessions as he recovers from right shoulder impingement syndrome. It has yet to be determined if he'll require a rehab assignment.

  • Charlie Morton SP | ATL

Braves' Charlie Morton: Takes loss in quality start

Morton (5-6) allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out nine over seven innings to take the loss Friday versus Arizona.

Morton pitched fairly well, but three of the six hits he allowed were doubles, and two of them accounted for all of Arizona's run production. This was Morton's third straight loss, though he's limited opponents to three runs or less in nine of his 11 starts. The 39-year-old is at a 3.62 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 72:26 K:BB through 64.2 innings on the season. Morton will look to break his skid in a home start versus the Mets next week.

  • Aaron Civale RP | CHC

Guardians' Aaron Civale: Returns with scoreless outing

Civale allowed four hits and two walks over five shutout frames during Friday's loss to Minnesota. He struck out four and did not factor in the decision.

Civale returned from the injured list and made his first start since April 7. He worked around danger multiple times but turned in his second scoreless outing of the season. His velocity was up across the board compared to his first two starts, including his fastball which averaged 92.5 mph. Civale will carry a 2.04 ERA into his next outing, which is lined up to come at home against the Red Sox next week.

  • Merrill Kelly SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly: Wins fourth straight start

Kelly (7-3) allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out eight over seven innings to earn the win Friday over Atlanta.

A pair of Eddie Rosario solo home runs accounted for all the damage on Kelly's line. This was the 34-year-old's fourth straight win and his sixth victory in his last seven outings. He's posted five quality starts over that longer span. For the season, Kelly has a strong 2.80 ERA with a 1.08 WHIP and 77:28 K:BB through 70.2 innings (12 starts.) Containing Atlanta's offense is an impressive feat on its own, and Kelly will look to keep rolling next week in a favorable road start against the Nationals.

  • Bailey Ober SP | MIN

Twins' Bailey Ober: Fires six shutout innings

Ober yielded four hits over six scoreless in Friday's win over Cleveland. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision.

Ober allowed just one Guardian to reach scoring position, and he dropped his ERA to 2.33 with his first scoreless appearance since May 5. The 27-year-old righty registered a 4.09 ERA over his previous four starts but he walked just five batters during that span. Ober is projected to start in Tampa Bay next week.

  • Reese Olson SP | DET

Tigers' Reese Olson: No support in debut

Olson (0-1) took the loss Friday versus the White Sox, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk while striking out six over five-plus innings.

Olson traded zeroes with Mike Clevinger for five frames, but the White Sox were able to make some noise against him and reliever Will Vest in the sixth. Despite the end result, it was an encouraging big-league debut for Olson, though the White Sox are far from the toughest opponent in the league. If the right-hander gets another turn in the rotation, he lines up for a road start in Philadelphia next week.

  • Mike Clevinger RP | PIT

White Sox's Mike Clevinger: Strong in return

Clevinger pitched five shutout innings Friday versus the Tigers, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out six in a no-decision.

Clevinger returned from a minimum-length stay on the injured list due to right wrist inflammation, and it sure didn't look like the wrist was bothering him. The right-hander threw 53 of 73 pitches for strikes, and the only thing that kept him from the win was the White Sox's late-arriving offense. Clevinger trimmed his ERA to 4.13 with a 1.39 WHIP and 46:23 K:BB over 52.1 innings through 10 starts. The key now will be to stay healthy, as he's had more than his share of injuries over the years. The 32-year-old is projected for a tough road start versus the Yankees next week.

  • Chase Anderson RP | TEX

Rockies' Chase Anderson: Quality start Friday

Anderson yielded two runs on four hits and a walk over six innings during Friday's win over the Royals. He struck out two and did not factor in the decision.

Anderson was in line for the loss after coughing up a pair of solo home runs, but a late Rockies comeback got him off the hook. In four starts with Colorado, Anderson has compiled a 10:6 K:BB and a 2.08 ERA. He's currently lined up to face the Giants at home next week.
