  • Brayan Bello RP | BOS

Red Sox's Brayan Bello: No help in loss

Bello (3-2) allowed two runs on six hits and struck out six without walking a batter over seven innings, taking the loss Tuesday versus the Angels.

Bello's lone mistakes were solo home runs by Mickey Moniak and Matt Thaiss. The Red Sox's offense mustered just two hits and four walks in the 4-0 loss, giving Bello no support, which ended his three-game winning streak. This was his longest outing and his second quality start in seven outings. Bello has a 4.08 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 37:12 K:BB over 35.1 innings this season. It's expected he'll remain in the rotation once Garrett Whitlock (elbow) is activated from the injured list, so Bello can be tentatively projected for a home start versus the Reds next week.

  • Kyle Bradish SP | BAL

Orioles' Kyle Bradish: Gives up four in no-decision

Bradish did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings against the Yankees. He struck out three.

Nearly all the damage came late against Bradish, who held the Yankees scoreless until Harrison Bader clubbed a solo homer to lead off the fourth. His troubles continued in the fifth, allowing three runs on four hits before ultimately being pulled following the inning. Despite Tuesday's uneven performance, Bradish has blossomed into a reliable fantasy option in his sophomore year, having allowed more than three runs in two of eight starts while bumping up his swinging strike rate from 10 percent to 11.9 percent.

  • Eury Perez SP | MIA

Marlins' Eury Perez: Struggles in Colorado

Perez (1-1) took the loss Tuesday versus the Rockies, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts in 4.1 innings.

A stop at Coors Field was always going to be a test for the rookie, and he held his own until things got out of hand in the fifth inning. The silver lining from Tuesday is that this was the first time in three starts he hasn't allowed a home run. Perez has a 3.86 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 16:6 K:BB through 14 innings. He'll be closer to sea level for his next start, which is projected to be on the road versus the Angels this weekend.

  • Gerrit Cole SP | NYY

Yankees' Gerrit Cole: Struggles with Orioles

Cole did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks over 5.0 innings in a 6-5 victory over the Orioles. He struck out two.

Cole tied his season high with five runs allowed while also setting a new low in strikeouts. The 32-year-old also gave up a pair of solo home runs, one to Cedric Mullins in the third and another to Gunnar Henderson in the fourth. marking his third time allowing multiple home runs in his last four starts. After finishing last season with the third-highest K/9 (11.5) in MLB, Cole has seen a significant drop in strikeouts in 2023, ranking 22nd with a 9.8 K/9. Regardless, Cole remains one of the league's top arms and has made up for his strikeout struggles in run prevention, owning a 2.53 ERA through 11 starts (67.2 innings).

  • Austin Gomber SP | TEX

Rockies' Austin Gomber: Picks up fourth win

Gomber (4-4) allowed three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out two over 5.2 innings, earning the win Tuesday over the Marlins.

Gomber was solid, though two of the hits he allowed left the yard as home runs by Jorge Soler and Garrett Cooper accounted for all of the runs on his line. This was Gomber's third straight home start, and he's allowed 11 runs over 16.2 innings in that span at Coors Field. He's still undefeated over his last six outings (four wins) after losing his first four starts of the year. The southpaw has a 6.48 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 31:19 K:BB through 50 innings. Gomber is projected for another home start versus the Mets this weekend.

  • Rich Hill SP | KC

Pirates' Rich Hill: Punches out nine in loss

Hill (4-4) took the loss Tuesday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks over 5.1 innings against the Rangers. He struck out nine.

Hill settled down after allowing two runs in the first inning, blanking the Rangers over his next four frames. However, he'd unravel in the sixth, allowing three more runs on three hits and a walk. Overall, Hill's been solid in his age-43 season. He's tallied seven or more strikeouts in five of his 10 starts this year, sporting a 4.27 ERA with a 1.39 WHIP through 52.2 innings.

  • Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX

Rangers' Nathan Eovaldi: Records second complete game

Eovaldi (6-2) earned a complete-game win against the Pirates on Tuesday, allowing one run on six hits and a walk. He struck out five.

It's been an incredible run for Eovaldi. He's pitched eight or more innings in four of his last five outings while tallying seven straight quality starts. The 33-year-old Eovaldi's ERA is down to 2.60 with a 0.97 WHIP and 66:11 K:BB through a league-leading 69.1 innings. The right-hander has established himself as an elite fantasy option in his first season with the Rangers.

  • MacKenzie Gore SP | TEX

Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Shaky against former team

Gore didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the Padres, giving up three runs on seven hits and four walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out five.

The southpaw could have had a much worse night, as San Diego has runners in scoring position in four of the five innings Gore was on the mound, but he was able to escape some of the jams he created. It wasn't the performance the 24-year-old would have liked against the team that drafted him in the first round in 2017, but the Nats got him off the hook for a loss after he exited. Gore's 3.88 ERA on the year disguises a 1.53 WHIP, but his 63:27 K:BB through 51 innings highlights his potential if he can sharpen his control. He next lines up to take the mound this weekend in Kansas City.

  • Taj Bradley SP | MIN

Rays' Taj Bradley: Tagged with first loss

Bradley (3-1) took the loss Tuesday, allowing four runs on nine hits over 4.0 innings against the Blue Jays. He struck out seven.

It certainly could've been worse for Bradley. The rookie right-hander allowed nine hits but managed to hold Toronto to four runs thanks to his seven punchouts. Bradley has flashed high-end potential early in his MLB career, though he's yet to make it past six innings through five starts this year. Bradley's 4.44 ERA is underwhelming, though a 1.15 WHIP and an impressive 34:4 K:BB gives reason for optimism.

  • Yu Darvish SP | SD

Padres' Yu Darvish: Solid in third win

Darvish (3-3) picked up the win Tuesday, giving up three runs on six hits and a walk over six innings in a 7-4 victory over the Nationals. He struck out four.

The veteran right-hander delivered his fourth quality start of the season, with three of them coming in his last four outings. Darvish tossed 67 of 90 pitches for strikes and blanked Washington for four innings before CJ Abrams and Lane Thomas homered back-to-back in the fifth. Darvish will take a 3.67 ERA and 59:17 K:BB through 54 innings into his next start, which is likely to come on the road this weekend in Yankee Stadium.
