  • Gavin Williams SP | CLE

    Guardians' Gavin Williams: Guardians-Royals postponed

Williams will not pitch against the Royals on Friday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

Friday's game will be made up Saturday as part of a doubleheader, and Williams will likely take the mound in one of those games. The 25-year-old right-hander has logged a quality start in two of his last three outings and has a 3.54 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 106:58 K:BB across 104.1 innings this season.

  • Giants' Landen Roupp: Optimism for minimum IL stay

Giants manager Bob Melvin said Friday that Roupp has no structural damage in his right elbow and that the team is hoping the hurler will have a minimum-length stay on the injured list, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Roupp landed on the injured list Friday with right elbow inflammation. It appears that imaging has resulted in good news for the right-hander given Melvin's indication that no structural damage was detected. Roupp's placement on the IL was retroactive to Wednesday, and he could end up missing just two starts if he's activated when first eligible.

  • Giants' Landen Roupp: Lands on 15-day IL

The Giants placed Roupp on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Wednesday, due to right elbow inflammation.

Roupp had been pitching well as of late, allowing just four earned runs over his last six starts to lower his ERA to 3.11 and WHIP to 1.43 across 101.1 innings this season. The 26-year-old right-hander will be shut down from throwing and undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury and map out a rehab program. The Giants recalled Tristan Beck from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.

  • Michael King SP | SD

Padres' Michael King: Set to throw sim game Monday

King (shoulder) will throw a simulated game Monday, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

King is expected to return in August, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. The 30-year-old right-hander has been sidelined since May 18 due to a pinched thoracic nerve. King's return will be a big boost to the San Diego rotation. He has a 4-2 record, 2.59 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 64:17 K:BB across 55.2 innings of work and 10 starts this season.

  • Luis Gil SP | NYY

Yankees' Luis Gil: Likely to make another rehab start

Manager Aaron Boone said Friday that there's "probably a good chance" Gil (lat) will make another rehab start before being activated from the injured list, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports.

Gil is feeling good after making his third rehab start Wednesday, when he threw 3.1 innings at Double-A Somerset. Still, the Yankees are considering keeping GIl on assignment for another start. The 26-year-old hasn't pitched in an MLB game this season due to a high-grade lat strain.

  • Kyle Hart SP | SD

Padres' Kyle Hart: Optioned to Triple-A

The Padres optioned Hart to Triple-A El Paso on Friday.

Hart threw 42 pitches in relief the previous two days, and San Diego needs a fresher arm for the bullpen. Ron Marinaccio has been recalled to take Hart's spot. Hart (3-2) has pitched in nine games (six starts) for the Padres this season, registering a 5.29 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB across 32.1 innings of action.

  • Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Completes bullpen

Taillon (calf) threw 47 pitches in a bullpen session Friday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Taillon has begun throwing off a mound, and his stamina is already quite built up. Manager Craig Counsell said July 4 that Taillon would miss at least a month of action, and the pitcher looks to be on track to return around that one-month mark. Given how far he is in the process of being stretched out, Taillon may not require many rehab starts if the Cubs decide to send him on an assignment.

  • Red Sox's Patrick Sandoval: Rehab stalls

Sandoval (elbow) has gone from throwing bullpen sessions to just playing catch and is doubtful to pitch this season, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Sandoval's rehab from internal brace surgery on his left (pitching) elbow has slowed, and it sounds like the 28-year-old won't pitch in a game until 2026. He remains on the 60-day injured list. Sandoval inked a two-year, $18.25 million deal with Boston last winter. He should contend for a spot in the rotation next spring.

  • Brandon Walter RP | HOU

Astros' Brandon Walter: On injured list

The Astros placed Walter on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to July 24, due to left elbow inflammation.

Walter threw seven innings in a start Wednesday, but his arm didn't recover as expected, and he'll require a stint on the injured list. Houston recalled reliever Nick Hernandez from Triple-A Sugar Land in a corresponding move, but it's unclear who will take Walter's spot in the rotation.

  • Josh Grosz SP | COL

Rockies' Josh Grosz: Dealt to Rockies

Grosz and Griffin Herring were traded to the Rockies from the Yankees in exchange for Ryan McMahon on Friday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

The Yankees selected Grosz in the 11th round of the 2023 First-Year Player Draft, and he's spent the 2025 season at High-A Hudson Valley. In 87 innings with Hudson Valley, Grosz owns a 4-8 record, a 4.14 ERA and a 94:35 K:BB.
